Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chatting with friends old and new..

We moved another 200 puzzles into my garage yesterday and I have 3 appointments to let people see them. One will be a virtual tour kind of thing. She wants 30 puzzles shipped to Seattle. THAT will be fun! I have already sorted out about 50 puzzles that meet her stated preferences. I sent her a couple of pictures of what I thought she was looking for & the response was very positive.

My neighbor is going to take my BIG air compressor in exchange for taking part of my porch deck apart and getting the septic tank pumping arranged. He'll create a trap door in the porch floor to make this process easier in the future. He also wants to buy my laser miter saw. I have leads on selling my 2 Hickory sheds. It's a "bit crazy here" right now.

Tonight, I help at church teaching teenage girls how to make the reusable shopping bags. I have worked with these girls before. Oh my... I don't know how you do it Betty! At least you are working with the same kids, so you HOPE they improve! These girls only get a sewing project once or twice a year and have no other experience.

You are all in my thoughts & prayers. I hope the relative quiet here reflects busy lifes but that things are "ok".

Hi everyone,

I am finally back on line again. Bell Canada and I had some words. I think I am going to go with the Bell Fibe as the cables are underground. There are no major building sites across tghe lake and have been there all summer. I think they might have something to do with the interruption in service. I am not the only 1 on the lane experiencing difficulties.

Betty 1/2 of my 3 bush cords arrived yesterday with the rest coming tonight. They would have stacked it for me but I actually like moving blocks of wood around. I'll start with a couple of hours this afternoon after I have some sleep. Sandman missed me last night.

Went to the grocery store and managed to spend over $135.00 with only 1 package of reduced hamburg. I stocked up on paper goods and laundry soap. Yep just like the squirrels I am getting ready for winter.

Karen how are you and Walt doing?

Deb what is your little gal's name? Poor thing. I get the boys Tartar Busters. They love them plus their teeth look amazing and I don't brush them. The vet tech was shocked to learn Chaos was 9 and his teeth were sparkling.

BBL

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Tarter Busters, huh? I will have to tell Marie.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Not doing well. Still having unrelenting pain 24/7. PT is not helping so far. I was told before I started that there was only a 50% chance of it helping. I don't know how long I'm supposed to keep trying, but will be asking next session. Then what? I just learn to live in pain?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

YIKES, that does NOT sound like a good option Karen. Here's hoping they come up with some options.

The sewing class went better than I expected. We finish the bags next week.

SIL Sharon & I spent about 6 hours in the garage. she sorted and cleaned the drills & hand tool area. Sorted out and racked everything. She did GREAT job! I worked on getting all the puzzles displayed and ready for sale. She also sorted thru all the screw drivers and pliers & cutters. Pared it down to the minimum I needed. We'll rehome all the spare.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good to see you posting Dianne. Sorry to hear about your internet problems.
Pat, sounds like you and Marie are staying busy, getting things sorted.
Karen, sorry to hear therapy isn't helping much.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone, it’s just the perfect fall day, leaves are started to fall and some turning.

I wanted to ask Pat,do you have to count each box to make sure correct #’s are in the box?

Oh Lordy Dianne, even had they done 1/2 the wood it would have been such a help but understand on a nice day how rewarding it must be

I may press send at any minute as I am out in the lobby of superstore, upstairs waiting for dr. Appointment at 1:00..got here 15 minutes early, I’m the only one waiting so if he takes me at t8me scheduled I can do a few errand and get home for Mason who after school is suppose to help with clean8mg and organizing back shed, it sure does need it.

Deb, did you get the dog tooth repaired or did it have to come out? Sharon was suppose to do the 2nd breeding this morning and leave for home afterwards..you dog breeders sure are committed to your breeding.

Lindakay, how is your sister today? Bet you dread when you get a phone call or text..

Karen, sorry therapy isn’t working, easier said than done living with such pain.. how is hubby doing. I start therapy next week, think it’s a list cause but will at least try. How are you filling your days?

Yesterday was a busy day, John dropped off my new glasses, 2nd pair says delivery tomorrow, i will wait til next week to get them as Darlene is having eye surgery today and I don’t want to bother her.

Mary and hubby Jim who I have never met called and asked if they could come over with some fabric and a sewing machine. OMG

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now I am into doctor’s room waiting for him to come in

The OMG was there has to be $500+ fabric, lots of nice Christmas fabric as well I had never seen..the kids will love it.the machine is a computerized husqvarna easy sew but can’t find a user guide under that name nor can I find a model #.

People are so very kind.

My brother and SIL Kim brought some fabric, nice, some Xmas, most for pillows and other..i cut the brown piece of fur into a bear, will do it for Grayson for Christmas and embroider his name on foot pad. Sewing it by hand but ran out of thread so hopefully Walmart will have some strong thread so I can continue sewing…I would say I am 1/2 done the hand sewing pieces.

Mom’s results were good, finally got her to agree to have Mike and Kim drive to the city to be with her.

Yesterday was cutting my grass, more chopping up

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Architect had to cancel, down sick, disappointing. No, we don't count the pieces, we know they were all there when Phil did them, into box they go in ziploc bag.

Jackpot Betty!

He said I had the “silent killer” hypertension, at dangerous point.
Sending me to a specialist if specialist will accept me as it’s hard to get specialist..so it’s wait and see.

Said the nuclear testing in Innisfil by heart doCtor should have caught the 170-180 and down to 110..i think it was up to him to check results but who am I

He have me another type of blood pressure, says it does something different than my high blood pressure pills, hopes it helps a bit

Even with new glasses my vision is blurry and headache

Just have to watch myself

Had a young teenager c9me and clean back shed, best $50. I’ve spent..so tidy, for now lol

I have way too much seasonal decoration.

Bath running, going to relax and jammies

Every week the hospice nurses come out, the up her pain meds as well as her Ativan. They have added Metamucil because she has stopped going potty. That means the cancer has created a total blockage, and nothing can be done. It's just a matter of time till she won't be able to eat anymore and her body continues to shut down. So dad this is such a long process.
Betty, that blood pressure is nothing to joke about. Hope you see the specialist soon.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda my heart aches for you and your sister. Continued prayers for peace and comfort.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Linda - you continue to be in my prayers, you & your sister.
Betty - I'm glad you're the kind of person who keeps us in the loop.. We worry about you & you know you have prayer warriors here for you.
Long day today - potluck at noon, followed by our senior's meeting, then helping out at our community centre's Bingo
Between the meeting & Bingo Randy came over & installed my up/down blind in the living room. I love 'em. Dianne sold the blind for $20! Said she got them & they were the wrong size. I have an overhang above my window & the narrow window seat from when it was a bow window, so it being 10" wider than my window wasn't a problem.
I think I must have pulled or torn a muscle in my side/back around the upper rib cage, cuz for the past month I've been having some stabbing pains, but you can't x-ray muscle so I'm trying not tto lift anymore than 10 lbs. I'm sure the lifting I did last week of the bricks & concrete irritated it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thank you all very much for the thoughts and prayers.
Got a call last night. Kathy can hardly walk so hospice ordered her a hospital bed to be delivered today. The laxatives aren't working very well. Nurse said it won't be long before she has a total blockage from the cancer. And we all know if that happens it won't be long before her body will shut down. I start my 6 weeks of therapy on my knee Oct 2. Praying I can get most of it done before I fly back to Michigan.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all..

Hugs Lindakay, my heart goes out to you, such a difficult time. I also am hoping you get through therapy so you can fly home. That being said that is a long time for her to be in such pain for another month, am sure she is ready to give up fighting. Do you do video calls?

5” on each side of the window Susan would hardly show, are they sheer tone? The new blinds take on the appearance of light curtains.
Maybe you will win the $20 you paid for them..

Can’t have a better day weather wise than we have today.

I should have been outside taking the day in but instead i played around in the house.
Serviced the husqvarna, Lordy talk about 1st time I’ve cleaned so much lint out of a machine, but it makes a nice stitch and is so quiet..i also had a clear work surface attachment that fits almost perfect, a keeper.

Been a quiet day, should have been working outside but vision and headache still with me so I made up kids for Sunday fall workshop, other than that not much.

Tub is running with lavender Epson salt, a good soaking might help.

I’m at a stage like the rest of you, want to do so much but do nothing big sigh.

Please post a photo of the finished craft. I love to see what the kids do.
I love the fall weather. So beautiful.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I wasn't playing Bingo, I was selling the tickets & sheets. I'm not one to play Bingo.
The white blinds show nothing through them. Around about sunset I raise them up so I can see the top of the sky. Not that I face the sunset. I face North.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Great bargain on the blinds Susan, good job!

Linda, I hope you can get your therapy well underway before returning. Continued prayers for you & your sister.

Betty, both of my machines are husqvarna, they are NOT known for being quiet, but they sure do work well. I LOVE mine. Marie just ordered the upgrade to an Epic 3, trading in her Epic 2. I'm happy with my Epic 1. I also have an Opal, that's what I use for classes.

Today, I reconnected with old friends, made new ones, and learned that genuine conversations are the best way to strengthen bonds and expand our horizons.

Welcome leronzaflowers..best opening to a day and something I believe this group does.

Pat, once I took the husqvarna downstairs and boys did sewing on it, was louder than I thought. I’ve now 3 husqvarnas, that is what my embroidery machine is, rest are Janome.

Regardless what you do Susan you keep busy.

I am so glad that these 3 days of fall weather happened on the Coldwater Fall weekend…. Kids are all so excited. Because some of my sewing kids are in brownies, guides, scouts etc I am only expecting a couple which gives me the afternoon off

Forgot to presssend.. will continue with my post

Mason andEvan had been to the smash up derby last night and both so tired… Mason went home after an hour of sewing, said his allergies were terrible.

Decided I would clean my freezer and put a roast on in slow cooker with veggies.

Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks, doing an inventory, I’ve fixing for cherry, blueberry, apple, lemon meringue, pumpkin and cocoanut cream, would like to do a chocolate pie and that is it.

Think I am done for the day, eyes get heavier and heavier, looks like the boys passed on their tiredness, nap time.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, sounds like you had a busy day too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Leronzaflowers, welcome! We hope you will become a regular here.

Betty, a nap sounds like an excellent suggestion!

The yard sale went well. By the end I was literally giving people the box of whatever they were looking at. Now I don't have chemicals to dispose of etc. I had a coworker come thru my house and she is buying several of the things I will need gone before my move, including my 2nd refrigerator, some of my nightstands, mixer etc. She'll have friends load it and I will deliver it to her house a week from Monday. I just wish she had also bought the king bed! LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you had a good turn out Pat.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dropping in with a hi, was lovely out but was just thinking of getting a blanket to throw over myself here in couch because evening is moving in and am feeling a chill.

Vanessa will be here for her sewing in fifteen minutes, am so tempted to call and cancel but doubt I will.

Kudos to you Pat, you will have to move in with Marie sooner than you think naps nothing will be left in your home. Once you are organized I am thinking you could look for part time employment in the sales field.

How is your therapy going Lindakay? Prayers for your sister.

Don’t think I mentioned, had the kids yesterday for fall project, came upstairs and inside my front door was a brown paper bag. Tom and Shannon from restaurant n3xt door had brought me supper, called Sharon and she joined me..i am sure i typed this out yesterday, maybe forgot to send?

Kids enjoyed their pumpkin muffins

How lovely, Betty, that you not only got dinner brought/bought for you, but that you were able to sit down for dinner with Sharon :)

I'm busy doing paperwork. I think I have everything set for AGLC (Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission - that's now been renamed to include Cannibis, somehow), and for Alberta Registries. Now, to see if I sent everything I need to, to Revenue Canada. Have I mentioned recently that I hate paperwork?
Next is to do my Divorce paperwork. I still haven't done it, but at least I have someone who will serve Bob with the paperwork.
I think because I've cleared out some stuff from my place, with more promised out and feeling that the place is more MINE, that my brain is becoming clearer. So, it's two down, and two to go. Feeling productive.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love those muffins Betty. Glad you had dinner with Sharon. How is your mom doing?
I don't start therapy until 2 Oct.

Verona, ON

Good morning everyone. It is overcast and humid. I worked on the wood for about an hour early this morning and I was soaked with sweat.

My chimney was cleaned this morning. I have the brushes to do the job so after Frank borrowed them he offered to do mine.

Pat I am glad you had a good turn out for your sale. Years ago we had a theft on the lane but no one knew - it was a cottager's. Anyway 1 of the cottagers who lived in Ktown came up and saw a lovely table on the side of the lane. He thought that 2 kids on the lane were selling lemonade. Turns out his place was broken in to and that was his table.

I did some throwing of blocks of wood this morning for about an hour. I stopped but will go out later in the day and do some more.

Betty how are you feeling this morning ? You be kind to yourself, ya hear.

Karen I am so glad Walt is home with you.

Susan you are like a whirlwind getting everything done.

LK how is that pup doing? How big is she now?

Deb have you handed off the last pup?

Be kind to yourself today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, think it’s 65 °f this morning, on the couch here watching limbs/leaves, wind blowing the week ones to the ground, strong ones hanging on doing happy dance.

Susan, does the divorce lawyer not have the papers handed to Bob.
Guess government didn’t want to create a new department and just threw it in with Gaming & Liquor Commission.

Lindakay mom is doing better than her 4 kids. Sharon is having a few people over Sunday to celebrate mom’s 92nd that was last week. I thought she would come for the week but she wants to be home for thursday, she bought tickets for a friends phychic gathering so likely she will be up Friday or Saturday. If i recall she will have to be back home Tuesday or Wednesday as she has a few tests.

I do not know what I did to my back but each time I take a breath pain throughout back, you know the kind if you have a bad cold the ache you get when you breath, similar.

Getting tired of this not being up to par, so this means on my back til 4 when Giorgia comes and 6 when Lily’s mom comes for a stained glass class, the to cancel, I’ll see how this afternoon goes by.

Laying her thinking what i could do? I go tomorrow for my 1st therapy then to Penetang to drop off my laptop, needs to be cleaned off then. Class at 4:30

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, i saw the pictures and your dog is just growing and so velvety looking. I just want to stroke her back and ears!

Dianne, good deal on the chimney cleaning!!! Loan tools, get YOURs cleaned!

Susan, I hate paperwork as well but when it GETS done I have such a feeling of accomplishment! then I wonder why I put it off so long! LOL

Karen, I pray for you, to ease the pain & make life more enjoyable again.

Betty our weather went from 100 in one week to 70, then dropping to 46 at night. I can't get warm. I have turned on the heat & I am wearing a t-shirt under a long-sleeved waffle knit shirt.

Deb, I apologize if you already said, how many pups are you keeping? I thought I remembered you were keeping one?

I did something impulsive last night. Told my nephew Chris I wanted to buy the truck. Marie gave it to Chris (her son) for her grandson Brandon. Chris had a sweet deal come up for a car that better served their needs so decided to sell the truck. I have never enjoyed driving Ben's Dakota truck. It just does not have the visibility I desire. Between the high backs, extended cab (therefore more center posts in the doors), and the metal grill to protect the back window, I just never felt comfortable driving it. Soooo.... now to get my truck ready for sale & collect my "new pickup". This pickup has been in the family for YEARS. Guess it's my turn!!

I have made the hard decision to leave this site when my membership expires. This is not a financial matter so please do not gift me a membership. I have personal reasons. I will miss most of you, but this is best for me. I will still be here for a couple weeks.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well Karen, that is very sad new for all of us. But I will still keep me in my prayers. I so enjoyed the adventure of your move into the big house and then your move to TN. Prayer through each illness and move. You will be missed and I wish you butterflies in the morning, rainbows in the afternoon and beautiful sunsets at evening. Sharon

I have been really busy with nothing. I have no appointments this week so I will do some cutting back of summer blooms that are out of control. Also need to plant spring flowers but summer flowers are still blooming.

My granddaughter and her two children are here from Arizona for a week. They are just adorable. And they play so well together. Face time and I phone videos are priceless.

Betty, I am pleased your mother will be there for her 92nd birthday. My cousin is 93 this year. She has two sisters that are 92 and 90. Then younger sister is 86. My mother's oldest brother's daughters. This brother was born in England.

Diane, so pleased you are getting your wood done. Just a little each day will get it done. We are still in the low 90s, high 80s. But my yellow oxalis are coming up and they only come up during the winter.

Susan, get moving on that divorce. Sooner you are rid of him, the better. So pleased you are getting everything in your home the way you want it.

Pat, good deal on the truck. Nothing worse than a truck or car that has bad side views or back. Very difficult way to drive. And you can always use a truck.

It is time for me to walk Miss Emma and settle in for the evening.

Betty, back pain can come from pleurisy in the lungs.

Hugs to you all.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, I am sad to see you go. I wish you nothing but the best in life.

Just wanted to comment that this particular thread does not require a paid membership. I let mine lapse a month ago and that is how I found this thread that I was still able to access.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Way to go Teacup754! If you don't mind me asking, what threads did you frequent when you had a paid membership? I think our sewing one required a paid membership, but nowadays, those of us that used to post there just share our stuff on this thread. Not everyone on this thread is into quilting or sewing but several of us are.

It was a thread that was a merger between two older long running group threads called “coffee and How was your day HWYD”
Like this one it is friendly group talking about what was going on in their lives each day. I think I recognize some of the same names, but not all.
