Hi I am hoping to plant snap peas if the seeds ever arrive. Can anyone recommend a good brand of inoculant? I have never worked with it before but I have read it is important to get it from a good supplier to ensure freshness. Thanks very much.
Recommendations for inoculant brands
All seed inoculant that I've ever seen has an expiration date. The brand of Rhizobia is inconsequential. It should last a year and, if stored in the fridge, be less potent but okay next year. Once you introduce Rhizobia into the soil, and continue to grow peas and related legumes on or nearby, they will live happily ever after. It's really not critical, just an aid. In fact, Rhizobia are naturally occurring soil bacteria so just growing legumes, whether you use an inoculant or not, will increase your soil count after one year.
