Happy birthday, Betty!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you Deb

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hoping you have a very happy birthday Betty.

Well, doncha know it can never just be simple.
I talked to Gastro before EGD and he said I looked pale. I told him that when I saw Primary two weeks ago he said blood test was at 8.something and asked me if I wanted him to call the gastro....Those exact words. I told him I was having the procedure in two weeks. Later in the visit we had words over another matter and he said it might be better if I saw another Dr. SO, Gastro calls former primary to ask him about the test and he says he never did it. What?????. So gastro says he cannot do EGD until they do new labs to make sure I could have it.
He goes ahead and does next in line while waiting. I'm at 7.1 now so good to go. Gastro called Oncologist to have him arrange infusion...they will call me.

I have by the way already talked to office about changing my primary and it is arranged. I was already unhappy with him as I felt he was not listening to me. Or actually not hearing me. But after this...I'm just livid.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg that is not good news Karen so how long now will it take to get the infusion?

Fine is hard to understand your medical system..here all is paid for, we have a doctor and if needed they send us to a specialist….

What a blooming mixup..with your blood being at 7.1 do you think they will call you right away? Can’t imagine why they wouldn’t send you directly to the hospital for infusion…

Bet you are just fuming

Thanks for birthday wishes

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I will give it a couple days but my oncologist is usually pretty good at my care.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Still a long wait.

Gang just left, tummies full
Sharon left early as she was fighting a bad headache, looked terrible

Flowers, gift cards, chocolates galore, $$$, US $$$
Mega calls

Wonderful day

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Happy Birthday and it sounds wonderful!!

My sister-in-Law Sharon & I went to Prosser to find a lemon print fabric for table clothes she wanted to make for ladies' tea party at her church. Didn't find it but went on to Joanns. There she found a white background, lemons with royal blue geometric design. She bought royal blue fabric for napkins. The plates are yellow Fiesta over a Royal blue plate. Should be really pretty.

At Prosser I found the fabric for the pieced blocks that will alternate with my embroidery blocks. The black fabric is the backing.

♫♪Happy Birthday, Betty ♪♫
Gad you had a good birthday visit with your family!

I finished the apron, and Una's happy with it. I'm thinking of making one for myself :)
I'm looking forward to March 17th - that's the day we have our Silver Willow Senior Centre's AGM where the current president is stepping down, and she, & the treasurer are both going to nominate me to be the next president. That would be awesome & I'm up for it :)

btw - the donation of the $400 will go towards the lumber or the rack we're putting in the coat closet area. Our president was scaling down the request because she didn't think they would want to give $250 (she suggested $100), and lumber is costly nowadays. We'll need every penny of the $400 they gave us for the shelving and some totes to replace the cardboard boxes that got wet in the back storage. It's all good :)
Now, we're looking for a "matching" grant from the County to replace some of our small appliancesin the senior centre. Looking at a Bunn coffeemaker that has the warming element on the top for the 2nd pot. Those things are expensive! So, a $300 grant, with us matching it, will pay for the $500+ coffeemaker & the supplies for it.

Morning, 5F degrees and sun shinning…wind is up and blowing ground snow around, looks pretty. Of course i am laying on the couch sun warming me up, pretending i am on a southern beach.

Karen, any news Re infusion… do you find you are getting weaker?

Susan sounds like you are excited about taking on the position..how man people in your group..think clubhouse will look gook with all improvements..

Ouch for sure on buying lumber, i want to build a garden unit in the spring..should start buying a few pieces of board each week, have a place in mind to set it up…am sure veggies will be very expensive this summer.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Is the garden unit pictured what you want to build? The same as "raised beds" kind of thing? I am ashamed of myself that I don't grow any vegetables. I just don't.

Off to see the dentist. I honestly think I would rather have a pelvic exam than have a DDS work on my teeth.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes Pat, would take less space i think..miss walking out and grabbing tomatoes, yellow beans, cucumber and carrots. Greg asked me why I didn’t take one of my gardens and make veggie garden, nope, not doing that lol

With having dentures since i was about 18 i really don’t know what going to a dentist is but i can imagine not fun.

Decided i would go with Sharon to city in the morning just incase she needs me to drive

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy belated birthday Betty.
I got a new phone Monday, and had to remember password for everything I log into.
No matter what I tried, it wouldn't let me login. I finally figured it out 30 minutes ago for DG.
I now keep notes for everything.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you, didn’t you just get a new. Phone not so long ago?

had same problem when Kyle was here last night i decided i wanted everything that is on this iPad on the other one..2 minute fix but 15 minutes to try different passwords lol

Was a long day yesterday and i am going with Sharon to the city tomorrow so i thought I’d have my bath and crawl into bed…somebody doesn’t want to move from my side of the bed, i grabbed the foot rest for under the covers at my feet, as soon as he saw the foot res he moved..he likes cuddling into it.

Got to live our furries

It's been 2 years since my last phone. Every 2 years I trade my old one in for the upgrade. Batteries don't last too much longer than that. They can only be charged so many times. Phones today are sealed inside the phone. You can't buy a new battery and replace it.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

YAY!!! 1st. phone call...Can I go to outpatient for a blood draw to type & match me for an infusion tomorrow morning? Why yes I can.
2nd. call..... Can I go to Oncologist office next Tuesday morning for iron infusion? Why yes I can.

So if anyone needs me next week to hold up their car while they change tires, I will be available.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Another reason for a great day. Payton's friend Sebastian, almost another grandson, Is taking a photography course. Jessica gave him a forgotten roll of film to try developing. To my great delight. this photo was on it. Such a wonderful memory for me. This is me and Emmet Kelly Jr. We were in Frankenmuth, MI. in 2003. Payton had fallen asleep in the stroller so I said I would sit outside the gift store with him while his parents browsed. As I was sitting there this man walked up to me and asked if I was Karen. I said yes while giving him the fish eye. He then sat beside me and said he was Emmet Kelly Jr. and gave me a signed photo. I nearly fainted, he has been my favorite since I was a child. I have a cabinet full of his figurines most are signed. We talked for about half an hour. His grandfather was the original Emmet Kelly Jr. but all go by the same name. Just a few months prior his dad had retired and they had a pass the nose ceremony. That's the photo he gave me. His son was at that time in training. I was as giddy as a schoolgirl meeting him.

Awesome photo. How did he know your name?
Glad to hear you are getting your treatment soon.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My granddaughter told him and where I was.

Verona, ON

Karen what a treasure that photo is.......

Tossed and turned all night and finally got up around 2 am. I think I will sweep and wash the floors. I have to do that at least twice a day as the TH tracks in so much sandy dirt from their yard. The floor really needs me to get down and wash it by hand. Betty a dump truck couldn't come in as it is the carport and no room to have its box raised.

What's everybody up to today ? I might just strike out for Kingston this morning.

Stay safe and well. To quote Whoopi "wash your hands"

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon,

Great memories found, where was the roll of film hidden..
Finally, the infusion, still seems far away for me but you seem on an up so that is great.

Dianne did you get to Kingston, was a beautiful ride day..
To bad about getting sand, another 2-3 weeks and hopefully will all be behind us.
32F when i got home..bet you are dreading the mud, do you have a mud room of sorts you can wipe down the TH?

Lindakay, 2 years isn’t very long is it to have a phone..they are almost throwaways..is it much different than your other one?

Just got back from the city, went with Sharon just incase her headache started again..she was also getting confused..the other day she went to bank to get $350, the teller counted it 3 times and she couldn’t understand it amounted to .. the evening of my gathering she was shaking so much that I did not think she would be able to eat.

Today she had a bit of trouble finding words but not too bad. Appointment was 10:10 but they didn’t take her till 11 then the doctor decided to do a physical..was 11:30 when she got out.
. She is pre diabetic
. Sending her to a neurologist
. CT scan
. Heart doctor

So hopefully more answers to come, she ended up driving both ways

Met a friend of hers at Swiss Chalet, lordy the hot chicken meal was so huge that 1/2 came home with me..Debbie her friend was saying Monday was her birthday so waitress brought her a birthday slice of chocolate cake in a box to take home, i laughed and said i didn’t get cake on Wednesday for my birthday so she brought me one for home.

We stopped where Sharon bought her 21” longarm, she needed a few things..i bought glide quilting thread and needles. Stopped in Barrie at Lens Mills, nothing I wanted nor Sharon but I did pick up some light white felt to make embroidery machine bunnies.p, not to find which memory stick it’s on .. had my bath trying to decide if I have energy to start something or call it a day… am sure it’s the latter.

Drats, tv service keeps going off, says they have a problem and switch to another channel but every channel is doing same

Maybe later I will have hot chocolate and a piece of chocolate cake.

What is everyone else up to?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, what a sweet surprise. I am so glad the film was not ruined.

I made vegetable chili this morning and will be working in the flower beds. I substitute chopped celery and onion for all but 2 cans of kidney beans, The vegetables greatly reduce the carbohydrates and calories. I make it up and then freeze it in disposable cups. It makes a good quick meal for me.

My gums are still bruised from all the work yesterday and I wasn't sure I could even eat the chili this morning. I stuck with just Premier Protein drink yesterday.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry you are still hurting Pat, soups and jello for you for a few days

How i envy you working in the gardens. Big sigh, maybe next month

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My phone is the new Samsung s22 ultra that just came out. Pretty much the same as old one. It has 5 camera lenses, supposed to take better photos. I haven't tried it yet. Supposedly the battery is stronger and supposed to last longer. We will see.
Sorry to hear you are still sore Pat. Praying it gets better soon.
3 of my quilting friends and myself met at chilis for lunch today. We enjoyed the time together.
Betty, sending prayers for Sharon, that she gets testing and results quickly.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Are they assessing Sharon for a stroke? Her symptoms point that as a possible cause. I am glad to hear they are doing extensive testing for the cause.

Linda, nice you could meet up with friends. My SIL Sharon came for a bit today & we worked outside, and I fed her chili.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you had a nice visit Pat.

I think we are finally done with our cool nights. Heaters have been turned off for a few days now.
Almost time to turn on the AC.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning -3 here this morning, heavy rain and extreme high winds starting tonight..best i refresh myself on how to start the generator.

No Pat, not so much a stroke but Sharon since childhood has at times been unable to feed herself, hands shake so bad..but, could very well have been.

Bet Lindakay it doesn’t hurt your feelings to put those heaters away and see nice weather..time to work on you lifted beds and work on roses right?

I am jumping mad, just fuming

The other day i said to Marie that it was odd i could smell pee on back patio, other years i had left an opening under the deck and animal would warm themselves but come spring it would smell so last year i added a piece to the door, nothing could get in , well maybe a little mouse.

This morning i opened door for Ziggy to go out and the cat that looks identical to Ziggy was hiding under the settee, after going at it i was able to put Ziggy in the house and worked at setting the cat out…he had pee’d on the two chairs, settee and god know where else, what a smell out there… I’ve washed the cushions/floor down in hopes it helps. I will enjoy my coffee then go out and wee which screen he cut open.

I believe he belongs to next door, am sure if i ask if it’s his cat he will say no so i will word it differently, make a joke how i never know if it’s Ziggy..once i get him in conversation then i will tell him how unhappy I am.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, time to work on the gardens.

I would be so mad too.
Try putting baking soda on the spots, after you was them. Let it sit for awhile to absorb any odors left.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will try that..had kids this morning, just ate..laid on couch and that is a no no!
Want to go to town but couch is so comfy.. know rain and high winds are coming so should give myself a push

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sorry you're still sore, Pat. Hope you're better soon.
Betty - could it be the early onset of Parkinson's?

Today is my "nothing" day. No requirements on me but what *I* want to do.
There are about 18 registered members of Silver Willow, but people come who aren't registered. It's only $10 per year. That $10 allows you to come to free dinners, where guests cost $15 (like our summer picnic, and Christmas dinner).
I have some ideas of outings to go to, and I think one of the first things I'll do is a survey, and another is a Membership Drive. We need to get current members excited about our Centre, and draw new ones in. We have a few that have been staying away because of Covid concerns, but now that shouldn't be an issue, since AB has relaxed things.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, you would think that membership of just $10 non-members would join up! If nothing else, it would save them $5 for the difference in cost of dinner. I hope your membership drive is successful.

My gums are still sore, soups and protein drinks for now. They'll heal.

Cats can be such an issue!!! there are times when I feel bad about keeping Stanley as exclusively an INDOOR cat, but then I remember all the ways he can get into trouble, cause trouble or get hurt.

I am meeting up with 2 of Ben's daughters tomorrow at 12.30 in Yakima. I do hope they are at least relatively on time. Historically, they could cancel or reschedule, or be hours late. I'll hope for the best. We will get food to go and go to a park. Rebecca is bringing their beautiful King Charles Spaniel. Lady had been in a breeding program but didn't produce the right markings for show quality pups. The breeder eliminated her from the program and Rebecca & Scott bought her. .

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Our membership is a calendar year, so by the time Christmas comes, it's less than a month but I get that they see "year membership" and that must be it. I plan on having outings, and hopefully the survey will convince people that we don't do just 2 meals per year plus cribbage on Wednesdays. We need to do more for our senior community.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Seniors do need something Susan and i think you have the energy to do it.
Reasonable membership so hope now Covid is relaxing they might come out.

One of the things i did as recreation coordinator and in charge of programs for seniors was see the need for meals at a low cost..when we first started we gathered as a group, maybe 10 and went thru all the flyers and planned cheap meals..a couple went out and bought what we needed that was on sale that week, we figured out the cost, each person would commit to how many meals they wanted, i.e. a single person would order might order 5, 1 for each supper Monday thruFriday, some would order 2 which would feed them and their mate..the next week we all got together for the day and cooked a good 1/2day, each person was responsible to bring their meal containers..usually a senior could eat 5 good meals for $2.00 a meal..that was a long time ago but you get idea. We had spaghetti, chicken pot pie, potatoes and veggies, odd time if turkey was on sale it would include a turkey dinner..buying in bulk and no waste was very effective.

Made it to town,so glad i didn’t wait until tomorrow, weather announcer announcing warnings. Got gas, $1.75 a litre, will have to figure out what a gallon is, the beef section was closed, empty..guess people are taking the warnings seriously and stocking up. My freezer is full so that is ok. Most of what I bought went in cupboards..
Did buy one of those “flawless” for myself..Marie said it worked very well, tried it and yes it did..maybe now i will incorporate it with my morning routine and not have hair all over my chin.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat,do hope they are on time. Sharon does the same, iftheyarenotshowdipigsshe let’s them go at a more reasonable price.

Forgot today i bought a bunch of sunflower seed..here is hoping i can grow them.

Also bought Pepsi rather than coke, coca cola said they would continue sending their product to Russia so even though I’m not fond of Pepsi Pepsi it is.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Haven’t hear..

always on my desk under the phone .. maybe she didn’t want to leave it there because realtor might come in with clients

Doesn’t matter, i was expecting it to happen .. big sigh

Victoria Harbour, ON

Start them young lol

Love that photo.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I used to put my nephew up on my horse bareback when I lead him back to the pasture. It used to scare my Mom 1/2 to death. That is a beautiful picture!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, 32F , sun is trying its best to come out but wind warning with power loss still being called.

Pat, can understand why your mom would be be worried..lol
have a photo of my boys on horses when they were about 2, there was a photographer who came around with a pony and took photos, doubtful that is done anymore.

What are you all doing today? Hope it’s something more interesting than I
