I'm happy to say after 20 years of working towards that goal, we've eliminated the lawn. Garden beds, shrub borders, and paths rule here.

We have over two acres of hammock-style woods (very tall slash pines, live oaks, palms) with less than a third of it being lawn. Cutting this amount is cathartic.

Two quintessential nostalgic summer indicators: the sound of prop planes overhead and the aroma of fresh cut grass on the breeze.

After we sold the livestock the Spousal Unit and I cleaned up lots of junk and seeded down the areas with grass seed. We have 2 riding mowers; with both of us mowing it takes 2 hours. I know it's lots to mow but it looks so nice around here now. I call it The Estate when it's freshly mowed. LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Me, myself and I, takes me2 1/2 hrs to cut then 1/2 day for trimming then it’s on to the many gardens to pick weeds!

It takes my husband around 4 hrs of nonstop mowing and the weed eating takes a good while as well. My husband hates mowing but does he t anyway 😜
