While I was out of town, my husband very kindly made me 3 very large raised beds for vegetable growing. Only problem is - one side has been painted. He used recycled wood from an old cedar fence which had been painted on one side in the early 1990s. I assume the paint was new at the time and did not contain lead. It was from a client's property so I don't know what paint they used. I've attached pictures. The painted side is facing inwards. Right now, I don't want to plant anything in there because of worries about toxins from the paint leaching into the soil. Is it safe to plant in there or should I ask him to redo the beds? Maybe I could use some barrier over the paint perhaps?
Thanks
Cara
painted raised beds - help!
I've tackered the inside with pond foil. It was just cheap timber, but by that it lasts for allready 12 years now in my wet country. Oh..I see..it is posted in 2016. But maybe a tip if someone is looking for same answers.
