beautiful blooms! I love that purple one.
Thanks Debra, thats Aogakiyama.
Beautiful blooms Jackie!
Thanks Helena,
Beautiful blooms Jackie! Glad you are hand pollinating those blooms!
Thanks Helena.
Jackie, those are very pretty.
I think you picked the best three to pollinate. Gorgeous blooms from those.
I really do not know how to pollinate, I think. I can't see why I wouldn't get crosses with all the pollinators I have outside. I bet I do.. saving two seeds from every i nil and tricolor I harvest, then I I am going to figure out the rest. *SIGH*
Thanks Debra I think there might be instructions on how to pollinate in the sticky at the top of our forum. Also you can google parts of a flower. My method is just hit or miss. You can see the white pollen at the tips of the anthers.
I get some of the pollen on the tip of my brush and whisk it around a little deeper in the throat
of the bloom. It works most of the time, with a few exceptions
The lovely Plum Surprise hasn;t made a single seed no matter what pollen I put on it. Maybe its sterile?
I don't see any honey bees outside to do the pollinating for me, thanks to Monsanto.
Early in the spring, I only saw a few bees where I used to have hundreds.
Jackie, if you were to plant some gaura and some eupatorium your bees will return, I promise, and all mine were just from wild flower seeds I threw down before snow time and then I threw some down in early spring on top of the snow. I'll send you a few seeds of those two bee plants.
they are kind of tall and weedy, but when they bloom, the bees flock to it.
Thanks Linda
Debra, thanks but don't worry about sending them right now. I don't know when or if I'd ever
get them planted.
Lovely blooms Helena. The speckled is a beauty and I like your Pink Star too.
Beautiful purps Helena. The 2nd one is Purpurea's version of Flying Saucers.
Its gorgeous.
oh I agree! Love your speckled, and that l'st purp is so interesting, I just love the striped blooms, never a same exact bloom..
this is a repeat , sorry but it just won't stop///
I LOVE the yellow leaves on my Pandy right now.. so pretty!
oange noah is keeping the dried up sunflower arch in one piece now.. Just a few blooms left on the sunflowers, everywhere I cut back there is a new growth with some flowers.. The Butterflys are still stopping by, but I haven't seen my Hummer since last weekend..
Jackie, seriously , all I do is throw the seeds where ever I want them ( or hope) to grow, no digging or raking involved at my house.. :D
Gorgeous pink bloom Debra and I love your orange Noah's.
Good shot of the butterfly on your sunflowers.
My pretty unknown, every bloom is different
Azuremores, maybe a 2nd day bloom with the blue streak
diff color on this Aog
Plum Velvet still blooming, gathered enough sds of this one to share. :-)
This is Pink tie dye,its made only ugly blooms this season, Each one deformed. You know how ugly it's been if this is the nicest bloom its made. Wish I knew which pkt so I could discard it
Thanks Jackie and Debra.
Beautiful pink bloom Debra, nice orange Noah and butterfly too.
Beautiful blooms Jackie. Of coarse I favor Aog and Plum Velvet!
Morning everyone.
I love all your blooms.
Thanks Helena and Linda.
Thanks Debra. Lovely blooms you're still getting,
Is the 1st one a small bloom? beautiful variegated lvs.
The yellow eye on # 2 tells me its a tri-color
Gorgeous purps
Good Morning,, Jackie that first pic is the last planting of outside seeds I did in the bean patch and the blooms are all big, I thought the seeds from you, too.
Debra, wonder if its a pink George Strait. I can't remember if George Strait has the
varieg leaves. Its very pretty whatever it is.
Love the Rose Helena, unusual color. Lovely purp too
Helena, those are beautiful. I love the soft colors! and your rose is really nice. I bet it smells good.
Debra, your blooms are pretty as always.
It was cool out this am, how about where you all were this am? Sure love your pastels, Helena, easy on the eyes.
I too love the soft pastel colors of your blooms this morning Helena, very pretty,
Cool here too about 50 overnite.
DH took so long getting my greenhouse ready for the winter
that I've still got all my work to do, carrying 250 plus plants back to the g house.
Still trying to pot some up to larger pots b4 I lose em.
It was 63 this morning. Still getting up in the high 90's here.
Linda, the temps here are unbelievable. 53 last nite but still managed to get up to 93 today.
it will be 94 here tomorrow. I;m not going to complain because this will be the last of the extra warm temps. I still haven't forgot about how cold I was all winter.
Helena, those are beautiful.
very pretty, Helena. I am so glad we are still getting blooms. I took some pics this am, will post tonight. Mostly repeats tho. ALso GOOD NEWS:
It WAS endometreosis on Joes' sister, Betsy. She is going home today and will be all clear of anything wrong with her in that area. I think she should SUE that first doctor!
Wow! I know she has to be relieved. I would tell her to call a lawyer right away.
All your blooms are gorgeous Helena but that 1st one is incredibly lovely,
I;m so glad its still blooming for you and us,
