Ornamental Alliums

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

In November 2014 we planted
flowering alliums.

Our winter has been somewhat rainy,
but not overly much.

It has been cold, not excessively tho.

Some of the allliuns have emerged.
It this premature ?

We are in North Central Texas near Dallas

I suspect they are right on schedule. Onions and garlic, both Alliums, are normally planted in the fall in your zone and just about this time, they start to grow. About June, or whenever it gets hot, they will bloom and go dormant.

By the way, Allium are in the Amaryllis family which includes daffodils, amaryllis and onions (and many other mostly bulby plants) - no relationship to cactus or succulents. 8^)

Evidently I clicked in the wrong forum

Its okay. We love ID'ing any plant any time. That's what we do. My concern was that you might not get an answer in this forum. Happily, I was able to give you one.
