Spring Plant Swap 2014 Food PotLuck Discussion
I will bring Chinese dumplings.
Yay donner! A get together wouldn't be the same without those wonderful dumplings!
Agreed! Happy dance for Donner's dumplings.
I'll bring the Special K bars. Not sure what Greenthumb plans yet. Assuming his sister attends, she could bring the guacamole dip.
Guess we won't have any vampires at the swap, my sister's guacamole is more like a green garlic dip. Beware!
LOL about the garlic dip. We will risk it :o).
I'll bring a nice big salad of some sort or another.
Darcy and I will bring chili and rice. We would need to make the rice when we got there though, is that ok?
That sounds good, and yes, it will be fine to make the rice when you get here.
I will plan to bring a dessert of some kind.
Aspen, would you also note that the chili will be Gluten Free?
We have to drive at least two hours to get to your house so the chili will be in the crock pot and the rice in a box.
Thanks!!
Hot potato salad and a dessert of some kind.
Hmm. I don't know what I'll bring. Maybe I'll wait to see what holes there are - aspenhill, please let me know if you spot a hole that needs filling. I'll definitely bring some wine....
Happy I think the wine was a definite hole. ;-)
I think I'm the hole when it comes to wine. That didn't sound right, but you know what I mean. I hope.
You are playing the very important role of plugging the wine hole! :-D
LOL!
Aspen, would you also note that the chili will be Gluten Free?
Thanks!!
Jeff, I usually bring some Great Harvest breads, would you like one of their Gluten Free versions if they are baking one that week?
I will bring my Macaroni/Ham/and Cheese casserole- with yummy crunchy topping.
This went so fast at Jan's--that the end of the chow line never got any.
I will also bring a bottle of wine (I like sweet something wine)
And--of course--my home made Garlic/Dill pickles.
That should do....Coleup???? Do you approve?
Gita
Pickles are good enough for me!
ABSOLUTELY Gita!
I was at the end of the chow line at Jan's so I am pleased as punch to have a second chance on this. All your others have been sooooo good. And what swap would be complete without your peerless pickles.
Thanks Coleup but I just checked out their website and they say there's a 'high risk' of contamination with their regular wheat breads since they mill their own grains in house. Seems like a pretty cool place though, thank you very much for thinking of me :)
I just don't have a gluten intolerance like many, I actually have Celiacs Disease so I have to be careful.
I'll bring fruit salad and Sangria.
Think I'll do a dessert & maybe bring some fruit punch.
I think I'd like to switch what I'm bringing from dessert to a veggie tray and a bottle of wine. Thanks!
Well I will make some kind of brownies and something else too.
Yay Cat!!!
We need some more decadent deserts here....for a sweet finish.
G.
I'm thinking of pulled pork if there's a place to plug in my large crock pot. Please let me know.
Roses - no problem plugging in a crock pot.
My husband and I are doing this crazy/stupid diet called Whole30 this month, so we are really restricted on what we will be eating. We'll pack our own picnic to bring. Everything sounds really tempting, though!
(Also, please don't try to get us to break the rules "just once". A big reason I'm doing the diet is to test my own willpower. Thanks for understanding!)
Wow, that sounds like a pretty tough diet Typ. How's that going for you?
We just started it "officially" today, but I've been weaning myself off of things like Coca-cola for a week or so. I feel alright but I'm expecting to feel pretty miserable this week. I'm so surprised that I was able to get my husband to do this with me.
My goal is to see if an elimination diet will reduce my chronic joint inflammation, help me have more energy, improve my complexion, etc. if I lose a few pounds along the way I won't be upset either ;) It's just that I'm too young to medicate all the time for joint pain. If a food group is causing it, and if I can eliminate it, then I'll do it. I think it's that dastardly gluten but I thought it would be 'fun' to just get rid of everything at once.
Yeah there are tons of people who feel better when they aren't eating gluten. Well good luck with your diet and I won't try to get you to cheat :)
Brewed iced tea is my specialty, and I'll try to find another culinary hole to plug foodwise.
Sally, your tea is my favorite!
I'll wait and see what we need.
Ummmm if I promise to show up on time...is soda still needed? If not I'll think of something else...LOL
..and I will make Sun tea too...
Chantell, if you want to bring the soda, I'd be glad to have you do it instead of me :)
blast from the past, because I am just not too busy at all apparently...
