Morning Glories 2013 #13

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

will Grandpa Otts reseed itself zone 6?

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Debra--

Most of my house is crammed full of stuff....

The shop is pretty big. This is the end I keep all my garden stuff in.

I have a BIG table in the middle where I do all my potting and such.
My Two Clivias also spend the winter on this table under the shop
lights during the day.
It is full of many other things too, Gotta have someplace to keep all
the not-usable stuff...AAAHHHHH...never mind.....:o(
G.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Grandpa Ott will reseeds itself until the cows come home!

I grew one in 2007--and the seeds are still coming up.
It WAS beautiful! Climbed almost to my 2nd store windows.

Can't comment on zone 6 though. Doesn't seem that much colder.
Just one zone away...

Well border 6 and 7,mine only grew 3 to 4ft,well no cows here but horses for sure!!!

Mesilla Park, NM

Some blue dawn in a pot.. I saw a hum bird moth on these guys and carpenter bees love these send only one of the Brugs, cypress gardens, they seemed to ignore the other Brugs flowers. I'm working in this area this morning, everything is still outdoors.

Nice purpurea Gita. The purpureas will reseed in zone 5/6 that I know of, the slid purpureas are all over the place in zone 4 and 5. Other cold species mgs are usually very invasive and will strangle your other plants. Very difficult to get rid of theses guys..

That one is really pretty with it's dark stripes. I hope we all see bloom pics all winter.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

debra--

I don't grow MG's--as I have very limited space--but I love all yours!
The only place I could grow one is at one corner of my shed.
There is a big pot there--a potentially good spot.

Do you have seeds from any of your pretties? If yes--I will have to choose one...
They can be sent in a reg envelope foe one stamp...

Windy and cold here this morning. A cool new look to my purpurea.

Thanks Helena, pretty bloom. I love the split petal blooms we get in the cooler temps.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Deb, I sent the wrong pic. That was my no Mai. Here's your lovely pink unknown

I have a few i nils Gita, those are the bigger prettier ones that are not quite as agressive as the i purpurea. I would love to see you grow some of my seeds out. Would not be able to ID them , tho, I am horrible at names of all these blooms.

I like: Blue with white stripes, and pink and white stripe, and lavender with purple star, for ID names LOL

Getting ready to hit the sack, I work in a few hours, didn't have to be to work till one Friday, so I slept until 11:45.. still made it to work by 1 pm.

Helena, that is a cool look to that bloom, is it getting chillier there? We had 51 mph at 65 degrees today.

Jackie, your no mais are always a treat to see. And that NOID is pretty, too. Sat and sorted another big tray of dried seed heads tonight in my lazyboy while watching tv with Joe after work, now those are done and my Living room is trashed.

these are from October of 2012, my sister was here, we had a good week that year. I miss her a ton right now..

Debra--

I am not a "names" person either.
Now--"Nils" seems a variety of MG--vs, Purpurea. Correct?
I could use a "beyyer behaved" one by my shed--as it does not have
a lot of space to climb.

I like #4 the best. I like strong colors....
I will be happy to get a few seeds of that one from you.
Will reimburse you for postage.

Thanks, Gita

Patootie--

I believe your Ivy is called "Algerian ivy". Usually sold for outdoor planting--
BIG leaves...long runners/stems..

Yes?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Gita, this one is Hedera canariensis Gloire de Marengo.

I saw some purps out back while we were cleaning, they are growing on the compost pile..
Danys #8 and PB are beautiful, always a pleasure to see your blooms, Jackie.
Helena that purple star and that satiny looking Pink are really special too.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Debra. I am enjoying these while they bloom.

Pretty blooms Jackie, your neat ivy leaves and Turk caps seedlings look great. I'm waiting for mine to germinate too.

Only mg to open today, close up makes it appear to be a lot larger bloom than it really is.

Nice blooms Helena and Jackie! Zone envy setting in :)
Love your light and dark blue one from 2012 Debra
Welcome to the forum Shauna, lovely color on your bloom. Did you plant it?

Tampa, FL(Zone 9b)

I had some seeds I was given that I planted, and never seemed to have any luck getting then to grow. Finally got 1 tiny vine...maybe 10 inches long that produced a bloom.

I have decent luck with just about anything else I try to grow, MG's have been my kryptonite. LOL

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Shauna---
I LOVE that blue MG of yours! the gentle waves of the petals--
and the hint of white here and there.....

Lovely! Gita

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Shauna, give us an idea on how your planting them, maybe we can give you some tips. They really aren't hard. I have lots of extra seeds if you want some.
