Weather Watching Summer 2013

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

sure is ! AC is off.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

OMG! SUNSHINE, LOW HUMIDITY AND MY FOOT FEELS REALLY MUCH BETTER.
LIFE IS GOOD.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Glad your foot feels so much better! It's sunny and dry here too. Hallelujah!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Great news, JB!!!

Another gorgeous one out there!!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

hooray for JB

what awesome weather

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Glad you're able to move a bit better JB. It's a glorious day here already.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

perfect 1st day of summer

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Amen to that!!! Got a few more things planted from the swap.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

The humidity is back, but happy daze the pool is clean or close enough. Dips in it are as refreshing as Catbirds' avocado dip. LOL

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

what a day- didn't notice humidity here, our AC still off.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

During the day humidity was only about 37% if I remember correctly what Jeff said when he checked.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Its cooled off nicely so another night of windows open!

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Sunshine, humidity is beginning to return. Hobbled out and washed pots yesterday and the day before. Just about a hundred more to go. I soak them in pine sole over night and then rinse them in a day or so and let them sun dry. I started to soak the first batch on the day I hurt my foot, so those suckers soaked for over a week. LOL. Good clean pots for sure. That kills all the bugs an they smell so good. Foot is still hurting but not as much. More at night after a day of using it. This weather is just too nice to be still inside. I use my golf cart to check the farm and then I do not have to try and walk on the uneven surface. That is what really hurts.
Have a great day gang and thanks so much for the support. It means a lot to me. I mind being lonely more than anything. I am used to getting off the farm at least twice a week. Have not been off since June 10th ....grumble grumble. Hugs. Jb

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

JB, how nice to have a golf cart to trundle around in! Sounds like you're healing, even if not as quickly as you'd like.

I see that the weather is slated to become warmer, but this past week has been a delight. Sunny, dry, pleasant temperatures!

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

Ihope all of us will have clear evening of Super Moon light. Tonite is the brigtest full moon til next year .30% brighter!

Good for celebrating anniversaries I'd say. Congratulations Happy!

"By the light
Of the silvery moon
I want to spoon
To my honey I’ll croon love’s tune
Honeymoon
Keep a shining in June
Your silv’ry beams
Will bring loves dreams
We’ll be cuddling soon
By the silvery moon"

How sweet. It is bright. It is a gorgeous night out.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

OK, I saw the moon last night and I did not think it seemed all that much bigger......????????
Today is sunny, hot and going to be humid. I think I will take a day off. I am lazy today. Storms possible this P.M.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

We woke to overcast and just finishing a period of light rain. Have to sort laundry . Blech.

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

JB I think it was brightest, not biggest.

I enjoyed how the moon and clouds played together early early this am

Light rain here too but not enough for no watering. Warmer tomorrow.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Light rain here also, not enough, but good for the grass. Hopefully it will continue. Cooled things off a bit unless the sun reappears to make it a steamer. I guess I'll start a place for Holly's' new water container. I just love this time of year, such rapid growth and flowering.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Coleup-- thank you so much -- we loved the lyrics (I had never read them before) and especially loved the video -- what a hoot!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Sun's back and getting steamy! Ugggggh!

Just another heat break, I try to break 15-20 mins. every hour and drink at least a pint.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

almost an inch of rain today, 2 storms but rest of day was nice and breezy so didn't feel that hot

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Lots of rain while we were driving up from DD's house in Audubon, NJ (very near to Jan), but we found that none of it had reached our gardens when we returned home. Need to take my Margarita around with my while I water!!

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I can not believe the amount of rain we had last night. I do not have to water the outside yard containers. Thank God. I am still not walking that much and I have grown weaker....or maybe lazier.........not sure at this point.

Sun is shining brightly and it is hotter than you know where. Humidity is high and I am off to take my first drive since June 10th. Wish me luck. I am going to the Chiropractor and hopefully he can help my vertigo today. It was so bad yesterday I could not function. I have not been to see him in over a month and I can certainly tell the difference.

Storms coming after 3 p.m. today, so more rain is coming I am sure also. No problem except things are growing so fast I am afraid they will be harmed eventually. Hmmmm that was a dumb thought.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

When the air cooled down last night the humidity went up (simple physics) to 93% in our house. So yeah we did turn the AC on.

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

JB glad you are getting out today. Hope the vertigo gets dialed way back and you can actually rest ! Glad God's doing the watering for a while!

Here the humidity is up and even afternoon thunder storms provide little relief.

Now is when I should stop weather watching as forecasts just set me up for dread unnessessarily!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

JB so glad you have a Chiropractor who does the Epley Maneuver. They are hard to find, even though it's easy to preform, and very effective in treating certain kinds of vertigo. Holly has the same thing but has not suffered the effects for quite some time. Mine on the other hand was caused by a virus and inhand with other ear problems left some permanent damage. PT taught me adaptive exercises that help a lot. If Holly gets it again I may try doing the maneuver myself, there are step by step videos on how it is done on You Tube .

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Ric and JB: My daughter was thought to have BPPV too -- but the Epley Maneuver was done somewhat differently than on the YouTube video -- I didn't realize that twists on it have developed, but of course, that makes sense.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I have returned. Wow, do I feel better.............but I do not know the Epley Maneuver. Please give me the UTube video link. He does mine with a little "popper"....up and down my spine, my lower back and my neck and I stand with my eyes closed and he works on me until I am completely balanced. It works like a charm and he has done it for years for me. I love this guy. He is also going to begin working on my foot with some ultra sound etc. I hope now that I can drive, I can get this extra stuff under control and feel normal (???) again.

Boy it is hot out there today. I am not sure I will be doing much work outside. I watered the greenhouse and checked some plants but otherwise it was just too oppressive. No need to get crazy. I will google the UTube video myself and see if I can find it until I hear from you all. Thanks for telling me about it. I had a specialist give me exercised one time, but they did not help me at all. My vertigo is a result of an inner ear problem I had since I was a child. I first had problems when I was a young mother and it got worse as I got older. Yesterday I took dramamine it was so bad.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

JB -- whether or not the Epley maneuver would work for you depends on what type of vertigo you have -- it is intended for BPPV (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) -- you should check with a vertigo specialist. There are a bunch of YouTube videos regarding the Epley Maneuver -- here is one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QikUTAmeE0M is one. I have no idea if these are reputable versions or if it is safe to do on your own.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Just had hail, lightening, rain and wind. Wires down up the road on Jacobstown Rd. and Arneytown Rd., water everywhere, still lightening and thunder to the North around Bordentown , Allentown, Cream Ridge area and heading that way. So far it is staying to the North.
This place is a mess, I had an entire flower wagon full of clean pots and did not get out in time to put them in the barn when it arrived. Pots went flying and the wagon was moved several yards. LOL. Oh well, now someone will have extra clean pots.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Wow, it's still sunny here to the south of you! Did the pots break?

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

No, they are all plastic and they flew like birds....lol Rob is still finding them in among the baby trees.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

We had barely a drop, although from the radar it appears big storms were both just south and just north of us. I want rain on a nice schedule -- every 3 days -- so I don't have to water this summer!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

We had a big of ominous, overcast skies--and a drop or two---not enough to need wipers on.

The rest of the evening, so far, is all sunny and hot--but the humidity seems to have dropped a bit.

I went shopping and dropped in on my daughter to sit out the I-95 rush hour.
I do not want to be heading N. of 95 during this time...It is bumper-to-bumper crawling traffic all the way to my exit.

We sat--and chatted--and drank some wine....much better....................:o]

donner-
I took some cuttings for you from Aina's Montauk Daisy. Will pot them up to root....

JB what he does sounds like his version of an Epley Maneuver, I know some therapist use a percussive instrument when doing this. My Doc. uses one of those on my neck to more carefully make adjustments on my damaged cervical disc. The Epley Maneuver is a very safe treatment that is simply designed to trap loose particles in the semicircular canals and direct them into a natural depression, it has like a 90% success rate in cases of BBPV.
We had a couple of high clouds pass, but not a drop of rain, although just south across the river they had bad storms with damaging hail and deluges.

Sunny and Hot how. More storms coming this P.M. but they say not as severe. I am off to pick up my hearing aids (they took them to reprogram them 3 weeks ago). Seems they were not programed correctly. Duh...I have told them for two years they are not working but they knew better. New lady came on board and told me they are not working correctly. Do you ever get the urge to KILL....when that crap happens. Then I hurt my foot and could not get back to get them. Today is the day. HUH is becoming a bit tiring to everyone, even me. Have a GOOD DAY. Look what survived the wind, rain and Hail yesterday and is blooming today. I was sure it was a goner after that wind was like it was and the hail damaged some leaves on the field shrubs.

Those storms were crazy yesterday, usually goes around us but these went over us, shaking the house even set off 1 of the kids toys...
.60" of rain
hopefully we get them early or much later tonight because kids have swim lessons at 6pm

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

JB -- waaaay off topic, but my FIL died leaving a pair of very expensive hearing aids. There's no way for someone else to be able to use them, is there?
