Small halictid bees.
Do you recognise the Tower in the background of this Picture.?
It is smack bang in the middle of the Capital City of this particular Country.
I have mentioned the Country at least a couple of times in these Threads.
The Capital City is actually on a small Island on the East side of the Country.
A small Bridge was built over to another Country a few years ago.
Xploring Canada & Beyond
Is it Copenhagen?
Right first time.
What gave it away ?
Was it the PØLSE Van ?
Now what is the Tower ?
The alphabet was a clue that the place was in Scandinavia, and then I got out my old school atlas and looked for a Scandinavian country with a capital city placed as you described. I have no idea what the tower is!
That's a beautiful bridge. I wonder what it cost to build, and how long it took to build it. Did the two countries share the cost?
The Bridge was financed by the world bank.
So Denmark and Sweden did not have to pay too much.
When it was built it was the longest bridge in the World.
A Movie has been made about a murder where the body was dumped exactly ½ way along the Bridge.
So neither the Danish nor the Swedish Police could remove it.
I will google it later and report back.
This is a really good link to the construction and details of the Bridge.

Very interesting!
Kell, the Wikipedia link corrupted the bridge name, and did not work until I changed "A~" into a plain "O". I guess some software has difficulty with the crossed-O character!
The Tower was built with a 210 metre long spiral ramp, no Steps or Elevators at all.
Nearly ½ a kilometre return walk.
The ramp spiralled its way to the top of the observatory and planetarium.
It was King Frederik the seconds (1534-1588) wish to be driven by Horse and Carriage up to the top. (lazy bugger)
The Danes built this Tower correctly, No risk of it falling over or leaning.
King Frederik II (1534-1588 – ruled Denmark and Norway 1559 – 1588).
He was the first Danish King to became interested in astronomy due to the scientific work of Tycho Brahe.
I am relieved to hear that the Danish tower stands firm. Can visitors still be driven to the top by horse and carriage? If King Fred the 2nd's knees were like mine, I don't blame him for not wanting to walk. I hope the ramp was wide enough for anyone walking to get past the king's carriage if they met it half way up. There is a deep well in Orvieto, Italy, with a double spiral ramp so that the water-carriers and their donkeys going down with empty buckets would not get in the way of the ones with full buckets coming up. I did not walk the full spiral - I was afraid my knee joints would lock up and strand me at the bottom of the well.

That St. Patrick's Well looks like a place well worth visiting. Thanks for the link.
Re- the Danish Tower.
There was only room for the King and his carriage.
But there were small recesses in the outer walls so other people could jump into them till the Carriage had passed.
I was born 2 miles from the Tower.
In My days, everyone was born at home, no such thing as going to the Hospital.
The Tower is called 'RUNDETÅRN'. (Round Tower)
When the Russian Czar Peter the Great and his Empress Catherine I visited Copenhagen in 1716.
They drove up to the top of the Round Tower in their Carriage with the Czar on horseback in front.
The event created massive headlines in the Copenhagen newspaper 'Post-Rytter'.
And it was the talk of the town for a long time.
Sorry no pictures from that period of time.
I must have been in Canada at the time. ^_^
When was the last time you visited the Tower? And was your visit reported in the newspaper?
I was last there in 1991 for my dear BIL's Wedding.
My oldest Boy was 11 yo at the time.
I have Pictures of them all cramped into one of those Window recesses.
Many types of attempts have been made to conqueror the top of the Round Tower besides walking.
In 1902 a German tourist challenged his powerful German Beaufort Car.
He drove the first motorized vehicle up and down the spiral ramp.
Beaufort was a German Automobile Manufacturer.
I was using my very first Camera when I took this Picture in 1902. ;o)
1902
Ooops!

I love those gnarly old trunks! ( And I'm not referring to anyone's legs.)
Your kids had great fun, I bet! Do they speak any Danish, having grown up in Ozz?
It looks cold - everyone is wrapped up warmly, and I see no leaves on the trees. Is winter a good time to visit Denmark?
Winter is a great time in Copenhagen.
But we were there for a Wedding.
So we did not have much of a choice.
The view from the top allowed us to see the row of large Windmills in the sea,
Now days you can see the Oresund Bridge to Sweden, which is nearly five miles long!
The bird's eye view also helped us to appreciate the organic layout of the city's streets.
Despite the seemingly haphazard arrangement of the buildings.
There's a certain neatness and cohesiveness to it all that doesn't exist in any Ozzie cities.
Copenhagen is absolutely flat as far as the eye can see. (like Holland)
What a pity the new safety fence wasn't made in the same style as the lovely, ornamental, old fence!
That is exactly what I said to My Family in Denmark.
It's like putting a modern plastic Picture Frame on 'The Mona Lisa'.
Safety (and protection from insurance claims) has outweighed aesthetics in many places, unfortunately.
From the dates and the horrific sculpture, I would guess it's something to do with fascism and World War 2, but I need more clues for the location.
Would that be the Froslev Prison Camp?
