Sports Talk!! Part 9 Summer Games

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

big game monday with that other team from texas

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - some KO in the fight last night!

Thomaston, CT

I watched the 1st quarter of the Giants game....it was a blowout, glad I didn't watch more.....Uconn is having exams right now, so I'm bored.....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cannot believe the Jets are actually still in playoff contention! They're horrible.

Break up the Knicks!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

browns won yesterday, 30-7.

Thomaston, CT

Good for the Browns....yep, the Knicks are starting out well, hope it lasts...

New Boston, NH

That other team from Texas got clobbered

Thomaston, CT

Yep!

Thomaston, CT

I've never seen anything like that before! Athletic ref......

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Yeah, that ref's got some hops.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So pissed that the Mets are intent on trading Dickey.

Thomaston, CT

Looks like they did.....some interesting players in the trade, but they need pitching above all....can't they see that?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Is it a done deal??

Thomaston, CT

Almost...Dickey has to agree to a 2 year extension.....

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

With Dickey on their roster, the Jays look like a team built to run the table in the AL East.

The Red Sox are giving Stephen Drew (who is as injury prone as his brother was) $9.5 million plus $500K in performance milestones to play for them this year. The A's declined to pick up his $10 million option for this year . . . and I'm once again wishing that Billy Beane was the Red Sox GM.

I just have to keep telling myself that it's not my money these guys are spending.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i liked his brother was alway clutch in the playoffs and big games - yes i wish he could have stayed healthy - red sox must have serious concerns about SS if they will pay him this much although it is only one year and a bridge to Bogaerts yet another minor league phenom

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

I thought JD Drew was a good enough ball player to be a respected part of the team. The thing that drove me crazy about him is that it seemed like he didn't care about the game. There were times when he would strike out in key moments of an important game and there would be zero emotion on his face. By contrast, a guy like Youkilis would have been slamming his bat against the ground and cursing up a storm. Okay, so maybe that's not the most mature response, but I want to see a little fire in the belly from these guys. I want them to care about the outcome of the game more than I do.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great Twitter line from someone after last night's Jets disaster. He said that if the Mayans were right, what a shame it would be for the final NFL game to have been that Jets game. OUCH!

Thomaston, CT

Clever response! Jets didn't have it this year....

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

TV announcer said that Jets were fighting for last place.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I hope so - better draft pick!

New Boston, NH

When things go bad they usually go REAL bad

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Suzy Favor Hamilton middle distant runner and former 3 time US Olympian admitted that she was an escort in Vegas - makes one wonder is that is her born middle name - ba-da-dum....................

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, her real name is Flavor.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

it still works................

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

'Is that a baton, or are you just happy...'

Thomaston, CT

A girl has to have a career.....

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

or two...........

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Natural for track star to get race-y!

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

You should be a stand up comedian.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

This date in 1908, Jack Johnson won the heavyweight title. True unsung hero, he does not get nearly the credit/attention for being the first real black pioneer athlete.

Thomaston, CT

No, rarely hear the name......I'm looking forward to Uconn girls against Stanford on Sat. 1 v. 2....

Thomaston, CT

Woohoo! Uconn women rock! Stanford was too easy....I worry about Baylor, however......

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thought of you when i was ready the sunday sports page this morning - they crushed them and ended the unbeaten streak

Thomaston, CT

It was a great victory, but Stanford may be a little overrated this year......

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No one chosen for the baseball Hall of Fame this year! Glad they passed over the steroid boys. Think Biggio should have made it.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Morris, Raines should have made it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yeah, Jack has only one more year left.

Thomaston, CT

Bagwell's at the top of my list.....
