Please share pics of your summer pretties
Summer flowers
love the 'passionate rainbow' gaura, but mine didn't come back this spring. I think they like to put down deep roots and I was trying to get it to be containerized. (1)
My glossy abelia bushes are blooming away. They bloom for me in just a few hours of morning sun. Sure do attract butterflies! They will bloom now til first frost. They stay evergreen here most winters. (2)
I'm also trying some large containers of 'Sun Impatiens' in two different colors. They top out at 2'x2' and so far are not bothered by Impatiens necrotic spot disease, (3 and 4) They sure are thirsty.
coleup, do you use any type of water saving crystals/gels?
Love the snaps
very nice, all!
Beautiful colors,
Greenthumb, Just love that Snappie, They are a favorite of Rics
VERY nice!!
Love the colors of the sun impatiens, Coleup
Chantelle---
Your Lily looks like one of the Chinese Trumpet Lily "Regale". They grow 4-5' tall? yes?
Yes! Their scent will permiate your whole house.
These are the Lilies I so fell in love with when I went to Latvia--in 2008.
I have the "Alba"--but it is not doing a whole lot. Moved them last year--may just be catching up.
#1-My white Regale Lily
#2--the ones in a vase when we were in Latvia. SOOOO extremely fragrant!
Holly, not only are the Snaps showy long-bloomers, they are reliably perennial for us.

Beautiful Gita!! I'll have to check my written notes...I'd wanted the "Regale" but I didn't think I actually ever got any...hmmm...the mystery continues
Chantel, Yes my glossy abelia is fragrant in moderation . like light honey.
Jen , I am not a fan of water crystals as they throw off one of my tests of when a plant/pot needs water. I found that MG with crystals was not a good mix for my many large pots of coleus and definitely not free draining as others I grow prefer...so, 'not worth it' to me.
As to the Sunpatiens being thirsty: they like all impatiens will droop and let you know they need a drink, but bounce back pretty well. The ones I'm growing this year were a special purchase item from Sams Club, 3 plants to a 12" hanging basket. I intended to separate the three and repot into containers but the roots totally filled the entire basket! Root bound there is little to hold any moisture and I don't want to use my large decorative containers just for Sunpatiens , so they will just have to make do with twice a dat 8counts of watering for now.
So sad that we may loose impatiens to Necrotic Spot and coleus to Downey Mildew and roses to Rose Rosette Disease Sigh
coleup---
What you call "Sun Impatiens"--are they not called "New Guinea Impatiens"?
They like sun--but NOT the hot afternoon sun.
Very good plants--nice colors--grow to nice clumps--and are always thirsty.
Pop back from a wilted state in a matter of minutes.
I always plant some in the bed by the shed. They get various stages of sun as it passes over my trees.
BTW--our HD (and others too--maybe??) still have the 4" deep pots of "Proven Winners" annuals for $2.50.
Reg. price is $4.98. That is where you can get the New Guinea Imps. and also all the Million Bells petunias.
Angelonias---eic. Many other nicer annuals as well.
We also still have all the 6" (white pots--4 plants in each) sale of 4/$10. Reg. price--$3.33.
I pull the plants apart and plant them as individual plants. Comes to 60cents per plant.
I think they just got overstocked on the 6" annuals. People are not going for them as much as hoped.
I got a lot of nice Zinnias. LOVE Zinnias!!!
OK! I took a few pictures today of my "Summer Flowers. Nothing spectacular! Too hot! Things are wilting too fast.
--Big pot on rotting Birch Stump
--Carpet Rose
--Heliopsis and Lantana
Jen---
I hope by "Summer Flowers" you did nor mean just annuals????
I just realized that i am posting a lot of plants that are perennial as well. Sorry--if I goofed!
However--all these are in bloom right now--and it IS summer---many of the pictures taken today.
--first of many blooms from a huge Amaryllis bulb Susan at work gifted me. More bloom buds coming.
planted it in my veggie bed--as I had some space left--unclaimed...
--A rust Mum in bloom. Do you believe it????
--Not in bloom yet--but soon. The wonderful, bronze/gold/maroon leaves on the K.K. Hibiscus.....
It is HUGE by now! Waiting for the dazzling show--any week now......
That is all, Folks. Thanks for looking......Gita
Greenthumb, I just love that 'Amethyst' Oregano
Looking good!
I meant flowers that are blooming now.
I didn't want to call it June flowers since June is almost over
Pat wanted me to post a photo of our Crocosmia 'Lucifer', so I'm adding in also:
Agastache 'Pink Pop'
'Amethyst Falls' Oregano
Agastache 'Honeybee Blue'
Grecian Foxglove
Edited to correct to Oregano cultivar to 'Amethyst Falls'
Second edit: How on earth did my edit end up as a new entry with a quote box.

Sally - so you can share your beauties with us!!! Not to mention...gotta grow em to sniff em!!
So many beautiful flowers!! Love them all. Must see what I can find on my camera :-).
juhur7: Lovely pictures! Is your Yarrow Coronation Gold long-lived? My sense is that is a short-lived perennial, but wanted confirmation.
Chantell.... Oh, yeah you're right !
I tried to post a few pics but they bounced off!!....oh well...don't have time right now to try again. Hopefully in a day or so =)
Happy Gardening!!! like all the blooms esp. the fragrant lilies
Wind, maybe the pictures were too big in size. You may need to compress them if you want to post more than one at a time.
