Marking my spot so I don't loose you all!!

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Copying my post I made on the last thread.

Congrats Sandra!!! I know that Cayla and Brandon are over the moon!!!!

My heart just breaks for Judy and Wayne!!!! I was hoping that things would improve for Wayne!!! Still praying for the two of them and also for the many other needs of our group!!!

I have to share my good news with Yall. Jimmy has finished the Academy tomorrow with straight A's and his graduation is Monday. He starts to work Tue. for the police dept. We are so proud that he is one step closer to doing what he has always dreamed of. We're not allowed to post pictures on FB of him, but I will check for gardening forums Monday while at the graduation.

If Yall figure out a way to load pictures please let me know!!! I wonder what the new iPad will do.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

If you are on FB, you know what I have been doing this week. On Monday, I drove over to Tulsa with my daughter and her husband to pick up the newest member of our family. His name is Laddy and he is a Schnauzer about 4 years old. I found him on the internet and applied to adopt him and was accepted as Laddy's new mama. He had been rescued from a "kill" pound. He is such a loving little fella and smart and also obedient. He fits right in here and also gets along with Gideon, my daughter's dog. He was pretty thin when we got him but after only four days he is already beginning to fill out and his coat is getting shinier! Today for the first time, he didn't gobble down a whole bowl of food at one time. He only ate half a bowl and left the rest until about an hour later so I guess he is not feeling so terribly hungry anymore. He has been with us for just 4 days and has already made a place for himself in our home. He is a real sweetheart! :o)

I'm editing this to say that I crossed with Charlotte and Jeri.
I have already talked to Sandra on another thread about Judy and Wayne but just want to say that I will be praying for them and also for Sandra and Jerry.

Jeri: congrats on your new Policeman! I know you are so proud!

Here is Laddy's photo:

Laddy looks like he is happy to be a part of your family!!!! I can see the smile even in his eyes!!! Before long it will be hard to imagine life without him!!!

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

So glad you found Laddy Marilyn!!! I know the two of you will be fast friends!!!

Jeri when my son was here in Nov I asked him to show me how to post a picture and what he brought up doesn't look like what I bring up. He somehow uploaded a picture to an album in his FB without posting it. When he selected the picture he wanted to upload it had a + sign in the upper right hand corner. He clicked on the + sign and had two options - one to upload. I don't get those options???? Can't figure it out.

I know you are proud of Jimmie!!!! You should be!

Ripley, MS

Charlotte, he is using an app for FB I would imagine. I got the app, but didn't like it and it go to the web page for FB. I think he is only able to upload with an app. I have the photobucket app and can upload to there and post a link if I wanted to do it that way.

Cindy, his foot was better, but today they went to get groceries and it turned on him and he could barely walk when they got here. It is looking like the rest is not going to do it, I would imagine he is going to have to have some kind of surgery.
Yes, they are both over the moon, Cayla has had a boy feeling ever since she felt his first move, so she was right, you are right on the count-4 boys and 3 girls. When the two new ones get here. I miss seeing the other two step grands, but they have opted to not see their Dad anymore. We hardly ever got to see the 2 of them, but always counted them in the past. Wendy is 15 now and Benjamine is 14 so they are pretty much able to decide what they want. She asked me not to tell Jerry, so she forgot to call him before he called on supper break, I told him she wanted to tell him something to call her. I know he is going to be over the moon too! When Ashe was born, Heather lived pretty close to us,he would stop every few days to see him on his way home from work, I hope Cayla can get closer to us before he gets here.
We have to leave at 5 am in the morning. I need to be asleep, but just can't sleep on demand I guess.

Judy came home to do some business today and came over here with pizza for supper. She said Wayne is down to 120 pounds. He is still sick at his stomach and does not want to eat anything. She said he just lays up there with his eyes shut most of the time. She is really worried about him. It was nice for us to get a visit, just the two of us. We are going to go visit them Sat, she said she was going back tomorrow afternoon and stay the whole week end.

Jeri. I know you are so proud of your son! I hope it is still what he wants, after he gets to working at the job. That is the ultimate way to make a good living is enjoy what you do for your paycheck! Tell him, I am very proud of him too.

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm still exploring apps. I found a neat one tonight for keeping up with mileage. I have to do for income tax purposes as I'm an independent contractor. Think I'll check out the facebook app. I thought I have it - maybe not??
I must have missed something along the way - what happened to Brandon's foot??

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

Sandra forgot to say I'm glad you got to spend some one on one time with Judy! I'm sure that was good for her!!!!
I'm going to spend Mon with my Judy! She's my BF also. We're going to spend the day talking!!! Just the two of us!

Ripley, MS

That will be fun, Charlotte !

Brandon just got up one morning several weeks ago with his foot all swelled and hurting. He finally got it x-rayed and it is a torn achellies tendon and has a piece of bone attached to the torn part. He has been through steroid treatment and now is trying resting and taking a prescribed anti inflammatory. It was better, now worse again.

I copied this link from my photobucket album, just tap to copy

Ladies - so many of us are having ups and downs I will just say that I am going to say a special prayer tonight for all of us.

For those of us on the ups - very excited!
For those of us on the downs - at least we have eachother. ;)

Goodnight.

Thanks Charlotte & Sandra!!! I'll tell him!!!

Amanda that's the best part of DG. You've got it now!!! Everyone may not be here at the same time and may not have the energy to comment for weeks but this group helps each other through the ride that we call life!!! Some of us know each other in person and then there are some we have never met other than the minds!!!! There is always that uplifting word that is just right for the situation. It's kinda like being 1 of 500 people at church on Sunday and the preacher's sermon is able to talk to every single person on a one on one basis.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Hey Jeri, I know you are proud of Jimmie but still have apprehensions about the dangers of the job. My dad was in law enforcement too so I know those feelings. It is something he really wants to do so you just have to support him and wear out the knees a little more asking for a cloak of protection to be over him. I know you really couldn't be prouder of him than you are right now. I hope you can post a picture that we can see. Maybe you can do a picasa or photobucket with a link here. That's not exactly like putting it on FB for all to see. I can understand why they don't want his picture out there. When I was growing up we had so many restrictions because of my Dads job. The main one that comes to mind is we could not put any bumper stickers on our car because he was supposed to be neutral about everything. No political affiliated signs in our yard or any type signs in our yard really. You don't really think about those things but since he upholds the law he is supposed to be unbiased. Anyway didn't mean to go off in left field here. Congrats to Jimmie and please tell him I appreciate the sacrifices he will be making. It is not a job that is left at the office. Will he be working at the local Central police dept? I hope Jim is doing good too. Give Mary my love. What is the latest with her cancer? Is she still doing Chemo? Did the last hernia repair work. Sorry been out of the loop for awhile and haven't seen you mention them..

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Marilyn I forgot to comment on your new baby. I know you will enjoy him especially if he is already house trained. He is a cutie.

Laceys Spring, AL(Zone 7a)

Jeri, I know you are very proud of Jimmy!! I know the police academy is no cake walk. My DH was a Huntsville policeman for 5 years back in the late 70's-early 80's after getting out of the Army and while he was finishing his degree. I wasn't married to him then, but he was raising his 2 boys and he said it was the best job he ever had. It's still in his blood as he is now volunteering with the county reserve deputy sheriff's office. They have quite an active group. Most are retired like him, but many just do it because they love the work. And the department, with all their budget cut-backs, love having someone with experience riding along with them. I know you worry about him, but you would worry about him no matter what job he was doing. Just know they have each other's back and that it is a life-long fraternity that means so much to those men and women.

Marilyn, I'm so happy for you! You have not only rescued a precious dog, but you have brought more joy into your life already!! Laddy is so cute and we all know he will be loved!

Sandra, prayers for Judy and Wayne in this difficult time for them. Among all the joy and happiness for Cayla, I'm glad you are able to spend time with Judy. How is your hand?

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Sandra my prayers are with you and Jerry today as you get the results!!! I pray that things will be better for both of you. At least getting the meds from his Dr. you will know they are not the fake pills that some get in a research program. It will be the real deal!!! Maybe your Dr. could contact the manufacturer of the meds and get some free.

I am very proud of Jimmy!!! Thanks Cindy & Elaine!!!! He was a bank teller before and I really worried about him then. Now at least he has a gun and can protect himself to a degree. I know the other guys have his back also. The group that he went through class with is the 77th class at the Academy and they have broken all the other class records in each category!!! They have been well trained and as with everything it is in God's hands now!!!! Jimmy is the oldest in the class at 30 and it has really been hard for him to compete with the 20 year olds there but he made it and I am convinced this is God's will for all the doors to open for him to do it at this age!!!! The instructor told him he was the most improved of the class.

Mary is doing great and is cancer free!!! She had her teeth pulled in November and is fighting trying to get use to the dentures. She can't keep them in her mouth. She developed another hernia and is afraid after what happened last year to have the surgery but she is in a great deal of pain and that is our project for this year. She wants to wait until she is used to the teeth first.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Jeri we have something else in common - family in law enforcement. One of my older brothers started on the force and retired in 20 after having spent 5 or more years as the Chief! Small force, and ill health of the former Chief allowed him to rise to the top quickly. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, tough job, but rewarding, and now he is in his 50s with full pension and benefits, working for a state agency that governs casinos in PA.

A bright future for Jimmie awaits. :)

We are back from Memphis with wonderful new, the biopsy showed no cirrhosis . Dr. Leal called the research dept and gave them the results so they are going to get him into the next trial. He said they should get with us around the end of the month. Mather drug company that is running the trial he applied for (Abbott Labs) uses a very expensive blood test that none of the doctors use, it is also a very old test, but still a requisite for the trials. That test showed the possibility of cirrhosis , but the actual piece of liver they took in the biopsy only showed the Hep C virus.
We are so thankful to God that the biopsy was good and thankful to have friends like you who will pray with us. Jerry is napping now and snoring-lol-we got up at 5 am to get to Memphis by 7:45. I am staying awake to answer phone and make sure he gets up in time to get ready for work, then I am going to nap too I think, I have not had much sleep the last several days.
I have already called the Dr's office about my referral appointment, it still hurts, Elaine, but they gave me a 2 week round of toradol, which calmed it down quite a bit, that is gone now and so far it is bearable, but I still have very little use of my hand. I had to leave a voice mail, she will probably call me back about the time I fall asleep. Old folks don't do well without enough sleep, it was after 1:30 this morning before I fell asleep, then woke up a bunch of times to see if it was 5am yet.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Sandra as I texted earlier Hooray!!!! greatest news I have heard in awhile. Wonderful news on Mary too. I am sorry to hear she may have to have more surgery.

Hey I completely hooked up my electronic nightmare today. Surfing the internet on the new tv and listening to my itunes library cranked as loud as I want since the hubby is not here. Everything works great. Typing this on that 40 inch screen. DG photos are wonderful but ebay's not so great. ebay reduces their photos harder than DG does. I haven't tried facebook yet but I'm sure they are beautiful too. I can't believe I did it by myself and it all works. I haven't tried to get the music to come through my surround sound bar since I have really great speakers hooked up to the computer. Really going to enjoy this. Haven't got all the wires hidden yet since I'm not sure this is the final resting place for everything.

You go Cindy, if I ever get a smart tv you may have to hook mine up-lol!

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

I'm not real impressed with the smart tv part. I find it pretty limited. Trying to maneuver around with a plain remote was like trying to use your computer with a joystick instead of a mouse and keyboard.. I guess I might like it if we didn't have the other toys.

Ripley, MS

We need a touch screen smart TV----lol ! Well maybe I would do just as well with one that has apps, but Jerry wanted to do e bay on a 40 inch screen.

Wayne has had another set back today, heart rate increase, vomiting and they have let him get dehydrated.
I asked Judy if she wanted me to come, but she said not right now.

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

Sorry to hear wayne had a setback!!

I have actually figured out how we could fit a new tv in the den but I' m not ready to deal with that anytime soon!!! I can just flip flop two pieces of furniture. Put my tall cabinet in the sunroom where the chest is now and move the chest into the den and set the tv on top of it. It would also take two men to take the old tv out of the cabinet - it is big and heavy!! At least it is a flat screen - maybe in a few years we'll get a new tv!!LOL

Had to finish up my work from today and now I'm putting together a tool kit. We have tools upon tools but I can never find what I need. So I bought me a cheap plastic tool box and I'm putting all the basics in it. I also bought me a new cordless drill. Richard has a really nice one but the batteries want charge anymore. So now i have my own! I'm going to repaint the walls in my booth. Can't decide if I want to start tomorrow or wait until next week. I also have a few little repairs to do to some furniture I have. Nothing major - just little touch up to the finish. But I need to get the walls painted before I can do anything else so I had better get with it!

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

.I'm sure there is a way to use his laptop hardwired to the tv.

Ripley, MS

Charlotte, I hide MY hammer in the top of my closet, and everyone knows if they use it, they better put it back. Jerry leaves his tools everywhere, then can't find them. I understand needing your own toolbox!

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

You wouldn't believe all the tools I have but they don't do me any good if I can't find them. I have several tool boxes of tools that belonged to my dad. A lot of them I don't know what they are. One of these days I need to sort through them all - one of these days!!

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Sandra that certainly doesn't sound good for Wayne!! I know that Judy is beside herself!!!! Please give her my love the next time you talk.

I have a pink tool box and pink tools. I've had it for 20 years I know. No man wants a pink tool. So, I'm safe as far as them taking my tools but they sure do ask to use them b/c they know where they are at when they can't find theirs!!!!

I have a TV in my office and watch it while I'm on the computer. I don't think I would like to combine them. Am I missing something.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Jeri - pink tools - that's HI-larious. :D

Camden, AR(Zone 8a)

Hello everyone! Trying to catch up with a busy bunch!

Jeri, love that you have pink tools! Jessica has wanted a pink tool box and tools for years, but this year for Christmas my sister bought her a cute metal black toolbox with cute huge yellow polka dots on it - then filled it with real tools that she can use. She loved it! My SIL saw a pic Jessi posted on FB of it, and she copied the idea with brown and pink for her GD. So proud of your son! I would be terrified with someone I loved in that job, but as you say it is all out of our hands anyway regardless of what they do for a living! We need great policemen and I know he must be excited to be doing so well in something he has wanted to do for a long time! Congrats to him and you!!

Cindy, you are much more technical minded than I am! I have trouble figuring out my iphone!! There is NO WAY I could hook up all that! I splurged last year for Christmas because we had an old small tv that was 28 or 30" I think...big clunky thing! I got Leigh a 55" samsung at Sam's at a good price. I shopped all over comparing prices, etc. It is HD and I think 240 hz - I picked it up at Sam's on Thursday before Christmas last year, and the boys help me bring it in and move the old tv out while Leigh was at his Lodge meeting and we hooked the new one up! Then Jessi made a huge red bow to put on it! It was close to 15 minutes before he even NOTICED the new tv !!! kinda scary.... but we have really enjoyed having a larger tv and I can actually see what is going on from the kitchen while I am fixing supper! I got it for 2 yrs interest free so I am still making payments on it. I calculated it out and made sure that I was paying more than I needed to each month so there was no chance they could lump on all that interest at the end, and I think I only have 4 more pymts to go. Would have preferred to pay cash, but with the kids it seems I can never accumulate enough for a nice purchase, so I just opted for the interest free.

Sandra - PRAISE GOD for the great news on Jerry!!! I am so happy for your both! See, I told you those extra prayer days would come in handy!!! and congratulations on the boy! I am sure he will be spoiled! How far is Cayla living from you currently?? Would be great to have her close so you can really spoil that baby! Didn't know about Brandon's foot - does he know how he did something like that?? Seems like it is a pretty major injury! Hope your hand is better soon! Sorry to hear about Wayne getting worse - sure does not sound good at all. I am glad that Judy has you to lean on during this difficult time!

Marilyn, so glad you were able to rescue Laddy! I know he couldn't have found a better home..... he will think he is in paradise. I know you will enjoy him so much, and to think that you kept him from suffering a premature death is a wonderful thought! I so wish people would be more responsible with their pet breeding and ownership..... so many people just get tired of dealing with them and give them away or drop them out somewhere. It really hurts my heart! My babies are like family! but then, I guess others don't take care of their kids either....and that is a whole nother can of worms!

Good to catch up with everyone! Jessica did not make the finalist on the interview that we had in november .... and we have gotten a couple of no's on scholarships we did not receive. Still waiting on some yeses! Don't know if I have told you, but she made the semi finalists in the coca cola scholars. They narrowed 84,000 applications down to 2200, but we have to make the final 250 to get a scholarship! We are completing a bunch more paperwork, submitting letters of recommendation, etc now, and hopefully will have some luck with that one! Please say a prayer for us! She is getting very discouraged because I have asked her to apply at some other colleges as backup! It really isn't "fair" because she is the one who has always wanted to go to OBU - now, I am not sure if we will be able to get her thru there..... but I fully believe that God has a plan, and that IF that is where she is supposed to be He will help us work it out. We have a LONG road to hoe on scholarship submittals over the next few months, but hopefully some of them will pan out.

I am actually at home this weekend which is a rare thing - but I have a horrible sinus infection and I don't need to give it to Alex so we are staying home. Need to get off this computer and get my Christmas decorations put away !!!! So behind!!!!

Hope everyone has a blessed weekend!

Genna

Ripley, MS

Genna, try to do something you are not familiar with this week end REST a little

Brandon fixed up a bathroom they were not using when Cayla moved in with him for her, he jumped off the back porch with some of the flooring he had torn out of the bathroom, but he did not know he hurt himself at the time, a few days later the foot started swelling and hurting, that is the only thing he could think of he might have done to it. They are about 40 mi.nutes from me now--she is hoping they can move before the baby gets here, at least a little closer.

Camden, AR(Zone 8a)

Thanks Sandra, I have been moving at a snail's pace today and haven't accomplished near what I need to - but I just am dragging from this sinus whatever that i have! I cough and sneeze like crazy and feel like a water hose is running down the back of my throat - just feel horrible. Jessica and I managed to get the ornaments and lights off the main tree, and everything boxed up from that. Now, I just need to get the tree itself down - but I am taking a break (and possibly a nap) first. ^_^ I stayed home from work with this on Thursday and slept almost the ENTIRE day! I do not remember the last time I came close to sleeping a full day - but I was only awake about 3 -4 hrs the entire day. I did feel better yesterday, and I had to be back at work because we were having a retirement luncheon for one of my co-workers ....but I am sure dragging today. Have a million things I need to be doing but just not very motivated :)

Leigh and Kyle are outside working on a loft that he is building for Kyle's dorm room. They are going to put a loft over their twin beds and put a couch on top...... started out the couch was going to be on bottom, but because of the way their room is laid out and the height the tv is at - this will work better. They are building this big 8 X 7' structure that is about 4 or 5ft tall......going to be interesting to see if it will all fit in the dorm when he is done! jessi is leaving with friends in a couple of hours to go to a movie, so I think I may try to grab a quick nap and get back to Christmas stuff afterward. I LOVE Christmas, but I HATE having to pack everything back up and lug it back up to my storage loft above my garage! Guess I am getting lazy in my old age..........

It is an overcast day here but nice outside. Wish I felt like going out to do some weeding but that isn't an option!

Hope that Cayla and Brandon are successful in locating closer to you...... what does he do for a living?

Ripley, MS

he is laid off right now, I told him he needs to get that foot fixed so he can start job hunting. He was laid off from a factory in Ripley, I am not sure what they make.

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

Genna all the rooms at my GS's college are made with the beds raised off the floor so they can use the space underneath for other things.
Hopefully Jessie will get one of the scholarships! It's been a long time but I don't remember my son having to spend a lot of time of filling out applications. His dad's company (Standex) gave scholarships to employees children every year. He was selected as the top recipient for the whole US the year he graduated but the best I remember his teachers and counselors helped him with the process. That was probably back in the good old days! LOL Then after college he went to work for General Dynamics in Fort Worth and they paid 100% of his masters in electrical engineering at SMU. He had to pay a small percentage of the tuition every semester and then when he completed the semester successfully they reimbursed him for the amount he had paid.

Got my booth painted today and it looks a lot better. Going back tomorrow and try to get it all put back together and hang a pair of drapes. I also have some furniture I need to get ready to take down. I'm having more fun with the booth plus making some money!! One of my old customers came in today. She used to come into my shop at least once a week and we got to be friends. It was fun seeing her again and visiting. Then another lady bought a couple of tables from me and several other small things. She was also an old customer of mine and was actually buying for resale as she and her sister have a store. She said she will be sure to check my stuff out regularly now that she knows I have a booth there.

Also had some sad news today. My step-daughter's FIL passed away today. It was not a surprise. He had stage 4 lung cancer. Her husband had gone up to see him yesterday so he was there when he died. So glad he was.

Ripley, MS

At least they will remember he made it through the holidays and not have that as a sad memory. He had been sick a long time.

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes Sandra I was so thankful he made it through Christmas !! They actually had their family get together the week before Christmas and hw actually felt pretty good that weekend and they all had a nice visit. The whole family was together.

Camden, AR(Zone 8a)

So sorry to hear about her father passing away, but I am thankful they all got to spend some quality time together over the holidays. As time passes, they will really cherish those last memories spent together. Prayers for his family during this difficult time. Losing a loved one is never easy....

Yeah, a lot of the kids have lofts in their dorm rooms..... and originally they were going to put the beds on top - but I think they will really like this set up, at least once they have a small couch or some chairs or something to sit in ! ^_^ Their room doesn't have chairs in it, and since they didn't have room for chairs they hadn't bought any. We have been looking for a small used couch that was in decent shape but haven't located one yet. It is the same as always - when I am not looking I see plenty in the shopper's guide ( a local free ad paper) but when I am looking it is NEVER in there! Eventually we will find something reasonably, maybe until then they can get some giant bean bags or some of those folding type chairs with the cushy seats on them that a lot of the kids have in their rooms..... I am just praying that Kyle's measurements were spot on - because this thing HAS to fit in a specific space! :)

Well, we have already spent several hours filling out and researching applications for scholarships and we have a LONG way to go. When I was in school, I filled out a lot of applications that a friend went to the library and found for me! He helped me finance my college for which I am forever grateful. But, of course the internet makes the search a lot faster these days - but also probably greatly increases the number of applications! Can you imagine having to read 84,000 applications?? I wouldn't even want to think about having to do that!! Leigh's company, AT & T, has a scholarship program but it is extremely limited in the number that they give out. I applied for Alex all 4 yrs of his college and he never got it. Kyle had a much higher gpa and act and he didn't get it either ! Leigh says he thinks it is exclusively for managers kids ..... although it is NOT supposed to be, it might be the way it turns out. We will definitely have a pretty good idea with Jessica having a 4.0+ and having a 30 on her ACT..... plus all my kids have a lot of activities and community service hours. jessica has over 2000. We'll see. IF she makes the cut on the cola cola scholars to the 250 finalists, she is guaranteed a scholarship of at least 10K. All 250 will have to travel to Atlanta for interviews. 200 will be chosen for a 10K scholarship and 50 will be chosen for 20K. I don't really expect her to be chosen because of the questions that are asked on this follow up paperwork, like "will you be the first in your family to get a college degree", " are your parents divorced" etc..... but she has some pretty good credentials so I am hoping for the best! But I know that from 2200 to 250 is a BIG cut too! My company doesn't offer anything either on the state or national level........ I have a friend who works for a company here in town, and her company supplies a 10,000 scholarship per year renewal scholarship if their kids maintain a 3.25 in high school!! EVERY kid who meets the criteria gets the scholarship and it is renewable as long as they keep their gpa up! I considered trying to hire on there just for the 80K in scholarship money!!

Had so looked forward to the 4 of us all going to church this morning, but I have not been able to stop coughing since I got up, so I decided against trying to sit thru a church service. I don't want to give this stuff to anyone else, but I knew Kyle would be gone next weekend and I really wanted us to all go to church together once more before he heads back to school. So, I guess I will continue work on cleaning up my Christmas stuff in between the coughing bouts!

Hope everyone has a great day!
Genna

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

Genna I hope Jessie makes the cut in Co-cola scholarship. You never know what they are looking for when awarding scholarships. My son had some really good teachers and counselors that liked him a lot and went beyond what was necessary to help him. Best I remember they got a lot of written personal recommendations. He also was very active in school and had lots of activities. Unfortunately I don't think there are many teachers out there anymore that are willing to go the extra mile

My good friends grandson just got his nomination to West Point. It's still not guaranteed that he will get to go. He had a football injury last year and had to have surgery on his shoulder. He has to prove that it is 100% back to normal. His mother is not at all happy about the possibility of him going to New York. But will accept what he want to do.

We went to church this morning via the live pod cast. Have you been to the doctor for your sinus. sounds like you might need to go.

I will just say that I "ditto" what the others have said in regards to Judy, Wayne, Sandra, Jerry, Cayla and Brandon and also Jessi getting a scholarship and Jeri's son's graduation and new job!! I've already sent posts to Sandra on a couple of other spots about Jerry but will just say that I am doing the happy dance that Jerry got accepted into the research program and they will be paying for his medication!

Cindy, sounds like you have yourself all fixed up with the new electronics!! Congrats, girl!

Charlotte, you are busy as a bee, as usual!! LOL Sorry to hear about your step-daughter's FIL, though.

In addition, to going to get Laddy in Tulsa on Monday, I spent two days this week "undecorating" the house from the Christmas decorations and was glad to get that chore completed! I also spent most of yesterday scheduling posts to go out for my DD's website for the next two weeks. She does posts on Twitter and FB about her health and wellness lifestyle program. The posts can be scheduled ahead of time via HootSuite and they have a "batch scheduling" program but it hasn't been working so I have had to do it manually. I help out my DD by doing the scheduling for her. I enjoy doing it but it does take a lot of time and concentration. I'm glad to have it done for the next two weeks!!

Here's another photo of my new fur-baby. I took this with my Iphone yesterday. I had just gotten up and dressed and sat in my chair to enjoy my first cup of coffee for the day. Laddy jumped in my lap and wanted to cuddle. :o)
He has adapted very well to our household and is getting along fine now with Gideon. It's great that he is already house-trained, too! Yay!! He is such a loving and obedient little fella.

Marilyn it hasn't taken long at all for Laddy to settle in!!! Samantha was not used to another dog being around and she was really jealous of Charlie for 6 or 7 months. They are fast friends now but she would just jump on him for no reason when he was a tiny thing!! I say she traumatized poor Charlie was why he was so shy for a while. He has come out of that too!! I bet it is nice not having to go through the house training part!!

Laddy is just thankful to have found someone to love him! Good for both of you!

Charlotte, our school has several good teachers who are willing to write nice recommendation letters, and we got a new counselor 2 .5 yrs ago now that has helped tremendously! Our previous one didn't really do anything to try to help the kids with scholarships. The problem with Jessica's class is that there are three girls tied (at one point there were 5) tied for valedictorian. So, even though the counselor is helping all the students, they have so many ranked at the same or near the same that she is staying busy writing letters, etc. trying to help all of them....and I am thankful she is willing to do so! And, how ironic is it that ALL THREE GIRLS that are tied want to attend the same university?? One of the girls got a 32 on her ACT so her education there is paid in full..... the other girl has a 31 and Jessica has a 30. The worst part is that we can't send 7th semester transcripts with all these applications that are due currently because our school did NOT take finals before the Christmas break!! SO, they have finals this week and it will be late next week before grades are done, and probably at least the next before transcripts are ready. .... crazy! They started school a full week earlier this year so I thought they would at least do semester tests before the break.....

My BIL went to Westpoint.... I know it is extremely competitive to get in. But, I would be concerned with mine going off that far too...... My first boss where I work now had a daughter that was accepted into West Point and the Air Force Academy, but she had also attended the math and science school in HS the last two years of high school. I tried to get Kyle to go to the math and science school, but he didn't want to give up his sports. He had also expressed a brief interest in the air force academy but decided he didn't want to go that route. I am glad he is closer to home than that, but mainly thankful he doesn't have that military committment at the end to fulfill!

I have not been to the doctor with this sinus stuff..... seems like everyone around here has it and everyone seems to have a hard time shaking it - even if they go to the doctor. You have to sit for hours here in the clinic to see a dr and the waiting rooms are tiny with about 30 sick people crammed in them, and I hate it.... so I don't go to the walk in clinic here until it is an absolute necessity!! To get an appt to see a dr takes weeks so by then you are better......or much worse! ^_^

We got Kyle's loft moved into his dorm room yesterday afternoon, and it looks good. Everything fit well, and it is very sturdy. He was super excited at how well it worked out! So, at least we accomplished something this weekend! .....still don't have all those Christmas decorations put away though...... :(

Have a great day everyone~!
