I did not know that Ip. purpurea could do little flags!

In response to, "the one I chose this year."
This one reminds me of some Oddball Hybrid morning glory seeds I bought from Wuv'n Acres. I don't have any blooms yet but I wonder if they will resemble the ones in your photo. The leaves look very similar as well.

Here's the link to the photo on their website:

Dany - Love your Sazanami! One of my all time favorites! I like the one you and Steph picked! Did it come from Kyushu?

I've had a couple of flags on some of my I. purpurea blooms too. Perhaps the missing link from full flower shape to hige shaped blooms? LOL!

Is the photo with the 3 different blooms from the same vine or different vines of the same cultivar?

szarvas, Hungary

Steph, the notes are the same but the final symphony has more vibrato! LOL
In this photo what is striking is the cross.
Becky this cultivar comes from : http://cgi.ebay.com/10-japanese-morning-glory-seeds-hama-ginga-/330557670781?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf6c5c57d I think !!!

I'm glad he is not too 'Murasaki (purple)' and many more blue - a cultivar very cool!

I already had one there last year - may be a three color!

Maybe in a 3D program of second life gardener it would be easier to create hybrids unforgettable?

Congrats Dany! You got one of my Silver Shadows seeds that I had crossed! It is Silver Shadows (mother vine) crossed with either Mauve Splash or Sazanami. Looks like possibly Mauve Splash, but I can't be sure. Which one do you and others think it is?

I was hoping someone got a cross and grew it out to share photos! Thanks for posting pictures! :-) It is just as beautiful as I was hoping. Later blooms may give more of a clue as to who the father truly is. :-) So cool!!! ♥

I really like this one, too! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=8697081

3D program of second life gardener - LOL! If only we could absolutely create blooms like that!

Have you seen this new copy machine. It's for real believe it or not! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZboxMsSz5Aw

Gorgeous blooms Dany. Very impressive.

Becky, looks like a cross with Mauve Splash to me too. Its beautiful.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Two things I noticed about the cross ... The white border gene from the SS became more pronounced on the cross and the gray color from SS seems completely gone though the pink throat is showing up on the cross. Just goes to show that you can be very surprised with what a cross will produce. I wonder what the F2 seeds will produce? Maybe gray color? Sure makes one wonder, doesn't it?

Becky, it will be interesting to see what future generations do. Its a beautiful cross.
