"Have been playing with the video on the Canon...and I found out I can take a still shot while video taping...LOL!"

Nanny, I'm camera shopping. What do you have? You have some mighty nice shots...

All advice welcomed...

Happy New Year everyone! Nice warm day here, in the seventies, however, hardly saw the sun, so my pics did not turn out very good. This Mockingbird was drinking from the house guttering.

This Blue Jay was doing the same.

Nice shots everyone!!

Quote from TheHackster :

Okay, Burd, what did you do to make your shutter speeds so fast with the flash firing? I know there must be a way - you did it. I'm limited to 1/250 as my max.

Hack

Hack, the sun was shining at the time...I was in AV mode...so my shutter speed was higher because of more light...otherwise I would've been around 1/200.
Only a Downy WP shot today.

Nice ones GP, GG, VaRose and Burd! I'm with Nanny...I could go for some of that Florida sun and warmth!

I saw this American Kestrel perched on the back yard dead tree and was able to get several shots through the open window. DH was not pleased with the warm air leaving and the cold air coming in!! LOL!

Thanks to everyone for your nice comments on the GH Owl!!

I have been watching and waiting for the Fox Sparrows to arrive and I finally got a shot of one.

Beautiful Kestrel Rose. I am seeing so many when I am driving...just hate I have no photo yet!

I am waiting for the Fox Sparrows too! I did see a Lincoln's Sparrow again yesterday while walking Gus. Just have not had time to really get out walking, plus the weather has not cooperated.

Happy New Year to everyone! Thanks Burd for a new thread. Mallards greetings: ^_^

I love all the posts but I favored the Wren that has a great Christmas present from Wild Rose. Those Brown Creepers are seen everywhere, but here, please send me some.

I got some New Year bird, even though is was heavy overcast and rain. I snapped looking out my laundry room (door opens to the outside).

Here's the cloudy sky.

But the birds were active.

Here's a Blue Jay feeding on the platform. I wish I could think of some way to cover the feeders to keep the seeds and birds drier - without spend a lot.

Later it fly up here and just sat in the rain - poor thing.

A male Downy Woodpecker didn't let the rain deter him. I fired the 580 flash on this one.

I think the upper bird is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet (if not, let me know). The one on bottom is a female Downy Wp.

Here's my last one tonight.

A Tufted Titmouse and a Caroline Wren at the suet. This suet had a lot of takers today.

Sure am hoping it is sunnier today. Pelletory, I hear the Pileateds every day, calling to one another, but they only venture near me occasionally. I am always thrilled to get a chance to see them. Birding has been disappointing here again this winter, probably because of the early freezes we had.
