Nice shots Nanny, Hack and Buttoneer!
Buttoneer, Yes that is a Brown Thrasher.
Happy New Year Everyone!
My hubby saw something this morning he couldn't identify, I went to see if I could see what it was, but it flew too quick(like they do quite often)! He said it looked like a blue bunting, but it don't usually come this far north, what could it have been, there are too many sparrows for the bluebirds, could it have been a blue bunting that somehow got lost and found our suet feeder?
Thankyou every one for all the great bird photos.
I do have 35 or more Goldfinches at the net-sock type , Nyjer, feeders. They eat a lot.
And 50 to 60 Calif. Quail, plus the always here HO SP. and HO finches. A song sparrow or two, and various other sparrows. Was really neat to see the litt Saw-Whet owl a couple of times. And of course the Sharp Shinned Hawks know where the feeders are.
thanks again everyone for taking the time to send photos along. Zero here this morning.
Donna
That towhee sure stands out against the snow.
Great shots of the brown creeper Burd and Nanny.
Hack, love the pine warbler especially. You really have bright ones.
Buttoneer, love the thrasher!
bsharf, love those roseate spoonbills. Nice shots all.
Went with friend yesterday who wanted to get to 400 birds in Texas for the year! He only needed 6 more and he got there. I got 9 new lifers! It was a horrible day, cloudy, foggy, rainy. Hey Resin, we saw Purple Finches! ID'd by 6 other big birders too, so not just crazy me. There were half a dozen and we got a good look at them.
Here was the other excitement for the day, a Prairie Warbler.
Here was another new one -- Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow.
Nice one! Remember to add it to BirdFiles we don't have a pic of one yet there! http://davesgarden.com/guides/birdfiles/go/464/
And congrats on the 9 lifers!
Resin

Okay, Burd, what did you do to make your shutter speeds so fast with the flash firing? I know there must be a way - you did it. I'm limited to 1/250 as my max.
