Thought For The Day #10
This month keep thy body and head from cold:
let thy Kitchen be thine Apothecary, warm clothing thy Nurse,
merry company thy Keepers, and good hospitality thine Exercise.
—Neve's Almanack, 1633
Wow Sherman, you're good, that's it! I guess I shouldn't have given the hint...to obvious...obviously!
I thought of Punky right off the but but for some reason I didn't have the 'pwa' to get all of it. Heh heh heh
One I saw took me 3 days before I got it. I saw it the parking lot of a company that deals with carbon science and engineering.
"QCARND"
I won't make you guess. Quality Control And Research N Development.

LOL!
She had to use pnkypwa because pnkypwr was taken.
It was pretty easy I guess!
sherman99 ~ I guess He did not know we would be on the computer instead of doing our housework...LOL!!
(Never saw any "Punky Brewster"....)
Evelyn, iPunky was a silly little robot girl...cute but silly!
Oh! OK.... ^_^
"A good example has twice the value of good advice."
A person with a clenched fist can't shake hands.
There is nothing more important in life than the outcome of a ball game - and nothing more trivial the following day.
It is better to sleep on things beforehand than to lie awake about them afterward.
May your life be like a snowflake - let it leave a spot, but not a stain.
Evelyn, you are on a roll. Particularly like the ones regarding the fist and the snowflake.
I just stumbled on this one on a hilarious thread over in Seed Traders (the one about "You know you are a seed saver when. . .)
"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe." Marcus Cole, Ranger to Franklin, A Late Delivery from Avalon, from the Babylon 5 series.
I can't tell you how many times my son has pronounced, "But that's not FAIR!" Guess that's what I get for naming him Justin, which means "justice." He's always on the lookout for anything that might be unjust, especially where his older brother is concerned. LOL

Ah,
The best part of my day. Spending a moment catching up on my favorite thread, well one of them since it's really hard to pick just one. :-)
I loved reading all quotes, so many, and the chat is always nice to read too. Speaking of which, I did think of Punky Brewster because I have nieces, but I also had boy children, and I didn't get the PWA, part either, so I guess I was only half stumped. : - )
Lynda, thank you for starting the new thread, : - )
I guess I've been working too hard, and didn't realize how long it was getting. : - |

I want to know too. Because I'm not keeping up, and I've even been playing hooky. LOL!

I cannot keep up either, so I will just continue to march to my own drum.
WARNING
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
This is an "oldie but goody"....
Yes I did some intense Nannaing for a few days while parents were out of town for. The alert, alive, growing and giving part was mostly having to get up at 6:30 AM to get Dillian ready and take him to school. Now getting up at 6:30AM is not my idea of a marvelous opportunity, however all the rest of the time with just he and I was most precious.

Heard on TV last night. I don't know who it was. I was in the other room.

Good one to remember when I'm constantly washing dishes. Thanks for the eye opener.
sherman99 ~ I like that fact I have dishes to wash. Thanks! ( And the food as well!!)

Happy Birthday, Karen !
Don't know if this is true, but someone told me Golda Mier reportedly once said, "Don't be so humble. You're not that great ! "
