I'm looking to trade for clumping bamboo that is hardy in zone 8b. The bigger, the better (would love timber bamboo). I have an extra Alocasia macrorrhizos to trade for and other stuff. Here's a pic: http://davesgarden.com/community/trading/image.php?user=imanerd&pid=59662

Clumping Bamboo Zone 8b - Trade
Would anyone suggest a clumping bamboo for Zone 8, maritime pacific North West? It's cool all summer, and rians 8-9 months per year, but summer is dry (Mediterainian climate).
I'm hoping to harvest some stake and poles for the garden and trellises ... 1/2" or 3/4" real diameter would be great, but I'm growing Fargesia rufa which claims 1/2" diameter, but I'm getting more like 1/8" after 4 years of growth.
So I'm probably looking for a somewhat hardy clumper (10 F average minimum temperature, 0 F occasionaly min temp) with a 1- 1.5" diameter under ideal condidtions.
So far, F. robusta is my best guess (claiming 3/4" to 1" diameter).
it's tedious lashing together culms that are like stiff grass, to get a stake or pea support.
