As you walk around the settlement, you encounter these endearing little marsupials everywhere.
Critters Big and Small Vol.7
mini-hoppers!! Margaret! LOL Now that is something new! Thanks
LOL, Rian.
What interesting and very cute critters!!
CUTE...sheep burn! Don't say no where it has to be wild critters....and didn't you start this anyway? lol
oh man, those are CUTE!
Oh yeah I did, didn`t I ? lol I wanted others to know it`s ok to add which ever critters they have.
Margaret, I think I would love one of those for a pet. They look like a mix of teddy bear and kangaroo. They are so cute. And very interesting article about them too.
Kim, yes that is accepted as a critter. :))
I miss these little guys, hope they show up this winter.
me too...at your house that is!
LOL with you Nan, those "Mini-hoppers" are really, really cute. Thanks Margaret for sharing their cuteness with us. Awww, the sheep is a wonderful sight, in which I don't usually get to see around here either. Your 'snow bird' Burn, what are those cute little guys? I hope they will return to visit with your during the winter.
It's a Redpoll Kim. They were here all the other years, except for last year .
They come in great numbers for their favorite food which is Nyger seeds but will also eat sunflower seeds.
Thanks Burn, I am getting ready to go visit a nearby lake, there we've a big area (surrounding the lake for Wild Life preserve), it's lake Mitchell, I hope to bring back some nice photos of wildlife to share. Later.
Now that eye shot is a little creepy! lol
Great shot - you must put the eye in front of a window - remind you of something?
yep, nanny.
Little, can't say that is does. What did it remind you of?
Hack
Jurrasic park - spelling - anyway, it is not that easy to get so close, that skink I showed earlier did not allow me to get closer.
Ahhh, I see what you mean. Weren't they hiding in a restaurant, or something, when the thing gazed in the door window, showing just its eye?
Hack
Something like that yes!
Margaret, Neat little animals, glad you sent pictures.
Hack, Liked the eye, and very good closeup
Wish I could go outside and take some snow pictures. there is probably a total of ten or more inches of snow in undisturbed areas. I did take a couple of snow pictures and will send one along.
My youngest son and wife are coming Mon. from the coast is the weather doesn't get too bad to get over the passes. And also if weather isn't too bad he will take me to Spokane to see the hip joint specialist's assistant to set up a time for the hip joint surgery if that is possible. I have had both hip joints replaced twice. First time I guess my body rejected the glue. Both were redone, one in 1994 and the other 1995.
From Xrays that were finally done a couple of weeks ago, after much pain on my part and indecision on the four different Dr.s part, I think they now believe the left leg hip joint cup has fractured. The closest Dr. that does that kind of surgery is in Spokane, 3 1/2 hours away. I am not looking forward to more surgery.
Wishing all of you a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Donna
rutholive, you're on my prayer list. I hope all goes well for you.
Hack
Beautiful snow picture! You are on my prayer list, too. Hope that you are "up and dancing" by spring!
After dark Thursday evening I looked out the front window to see 5 does. I just thought that was so cool, wishing only that I could have gotten a photo of them.
Then a Fedex truck came by and broke the magical spell... :(
Oh Donna, I'm so sorry to hear you have to go through yet another surgery. Wishing things will go well for you, and they can fix it good. Hoping to hear from you soon. I'll be thinking of you.
Love your snowy shot.
Hack that is a great close up of the anole, love all the details of the eye. I find squirrel don't scare easy. They will stay on the feeder when I'm outside, as if they are daring me to come close. Sometimes I have to shake the feeder to scare it. I almost was able to hand feed a red squirrel a peanut one day but he phone rang.
Nanny, that must of been a magical moment for sure. Wish you could have gotten a picture of it too. ;)
My son took this picture of these horses, last week.
We have a llama farm not to far from us and I just love seeing them!!
How cool!
Riverland did you ask on the ID forum for the birds. I don't get bluebirds close by, and can't tell if it's one or not. Nice deer, and your little phoebe is adorable. I've never seen Goldfinch eat peanut butter neat shot.
Little, I was always intrigue by that flower, It's beautiful, but if it smell like rotting meat, I don't think I'd want it in my house.:) First time I've ever seen a picture of it, was here on DG. Looks like it will have a good feed, when those larvae emerge.
This Starling felt he needed a bath.
Burn luckily it's not a potent overwhelming smell - you need to be close.
Riverland ...is not an Eastern Blue Bird.....not sure what it is for sure.
I will send resin a d-mail - I'm sure he will know the birds riverland.
Yes I think we decided the sparrow was a white-crowned sparrow and the other was possibly a Slate colored dark eyed Junco.
I thought I was posting to Midsouth forum where duckmother helps us ID our birds.
I always read over here because it is so enjoyable to see others embracing what wildlife they have in their area.
Thank you nanny, little, and burn for your help and interest. Burn I love the bath shot. I live on water so I have never tried providing a place to bathe for the birds. I think I am going to so I won't miss out on some good shots. That little gold finch was actually after the sunflower seed hearts that I had mixed in the peanut butter. He probably wouldn't have touched it if that treat was not there.
Thank all of you for posting your pictures because I truly love looking at them.
This Belted Kingfisher likes to scan the water from this pipe. He is so easily spooked even though he is about 75 yards from me.
