Guess nobody told him squirrels don't eat safflower seed..

Thumbnail by nanny_56

Eating all that dry seed makes a squirrel awfully thirsty.....

I may have to throw a bone out there for them! Buddy had such bad teeth he couldn't chew on bones.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

It's funny to have a window open and hear the gnawing.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

That's one way to keep those choppers sharp. ;) I didn't know, they chewed bones, but it makes sense.

YAY Shortail!! Can't believe he is still around.....mine don't seem to live long here. Too many predators I guess.

Melbourne, FL

When the squirrel attempted to come down for her bone today my cat was nearby and went after her....so I decided to anchor the bone into my wire fencing....six feet up.

The gray one came back yesterday, but couldn't get a shot of him.

Sandusky, OH

GP, for the life of me, I can't figure out how that bone from my yard got to your place!! ;)

Melbourne, FL

My dog loves bones, so there are always a few in the yard.

Those teeth must be some sharp!!! GP.
Nanny, how can he ever drink with it's mouth full, lol. Yes for you have double trouble. Did you bring out the corn yet? I have a nephew who grows corn for his cows, and he told me, I can come get some for the birds.
Burd good shot of the trouble make.

I think this one was smelling a rat.;)

Nope...have not put any corn out yet. I need to replace my cob holder. The one I had a neighbor made for me but it is falling apart now.

This one was working so hard to bury a nut....

and all done now!!

Does anybody know how they manage to put a big ol' black walnut in the bottom of a planter but NOTt have dirt thrown all around??? I am always baffled when I empty my pots in the fall and find all the nuts buried in the bottom! lol

Never had that happen to me yet, so can't answer you. ;)
I now have, 3 squirrels running around. 2 Red, and 1 gray. OH trouble for me this year.

If there was such a thing as an Olympics for critters, the squirrels would certainly be gold medal favorites.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Nanny, I think it is because they have those tiny, precise paws. and then you see they like to push stuff back on top of it so you don't know it's there. My yard sprouted a bunch of peanuts this year. The neighbor has a hickory tree so I have those things coming up everywhere too.
