Could you help me identify this bamboo?

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

The bamboo experts here at Daves may have more
luck with this one. I posted it on the identification board,
but bamboo is a world of it's own, so...

I would appreciate any and all suggestions as to what
this bamboo could be.

Thanks!

A type of Phyllostachys.

Hi Metro,

Definitely a Phyllo, but I can't figure out which one. Ah, the quest continues.

Try some of these links. The first two have a "species selector" that let you filter and sort by many different criteria.

Narrow it down to Phyllostachys, height and diameter, maybe cold tolerance.
There are some descriptions that would narrow it further. Then look for links with pictures.

Corey, thank you so much!

It looks like it MIGHT be Phyllostachys rubromarginata... My rubro tends to get the exact same darkening along the internodes as the one you have in the picture... I've been growing it here in PA for the past 5 years, but it's getting a bit too much shade and has been really slow as a result, despite little to no cold damage during the winter here.

Hello Hikaro,

Thank you so much for your suggestion. Unfortunately, we have two small areas of Rubro, and it isn't the same.
Very similar, though.

Many thanks for trying.

:-)
