Does Dick Wright still have a Nursery in California? Can you go there and buy Echeverias?
Why are Echeveria hybrids so hard to find?

No, he doesn't. He's quite elderly now - over 80 years old. He had a major fire many years ago and never opened up again. Take a look here for some background and info on what's going on in the Echeveria hybrid world lately: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/852057/

Ebay has some nice listngs every week or so. I know a number of thistlesifter's hybrids have been sold there and lately there's been some pretty unusual stuff coming out of Japan. These items often go for quite a bit, but if you pay attention, once in a while you can get a real bargain.

but is still selling echeverias and aloes hybrids world wide
