Sally- Your weeded and preened gardenbeds are looking very spiffy. Nice view.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Diann, I hope your cats continue to do OK and stay reasonably healthy - wow, 17 - that's amazing - and they still seem to be in pretty good shape for that age.

Billyporter, your beds are amazing - so neat and so well executed. You really did a nice job with placement of plants and it looks like a work of art - great job!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I second that.
The color blends are wonderful.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

I'll third that! Very nice placement of plants.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

beautiful!

BP- Do I see the beginnings of a new bed in the upper right corner of that pix?

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Thank you everyone!

It is a new bed, for the neighbors, giggle. They just put in a small garden the other day. This is my south property line, with a path to walk behind it :o)

Ge, I enjoyed your slideshow! I keep thinking about using Picassa, but read that it has a few problems. It sure is a good way to show a lot of plants at once! I love Siberian Iris and have a few of those flowers.

Here is the Half Moon bed. It's three beds in one, basically.

Very lovely. :)

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Donna, is deutzia the one with the wonderful scent? It's very pretty! I have one Ambigua Foxglove left. I love foxglove, but cannot seem to get them going, or reseeding, Aarrrggg!

I'm behind here, there and everywhere. I tried working on pictures this morning and got half done. The sun comes and goes. We got 7/10'' rain and we also have many mosquitos. Aarrggg! I somehow got sinus infection, Aarrggg! Do we have a trend here, LOL! Where did my perfect June go?

I have to suit up and go see how the rain perked my astilbes up. I would have had to water them if it hadn't.

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh yes, BP. Deutzia is lovely. But I have to cage it in the winter or the rabbit nibbling robs me of all bloom - finally did it last year and am seeing flowers for the first time.

I ave probably grown 20 digitalis mertonensis from seed. I get foliage, and then it doesn't bloom. I'll get one to bloom, and it won't come back. But Pam's grandiflora bloomed last year and this - and it's spreading! You can't tell, but to it's right is a two year old mertonensis, which has not bloomed, and is a quarter of the size. I'm about to read it the riot act.

The mosquitos are keeping me out of the yard too. We got quite a bit of rain over the last two days. I have all these gorgeous roses and peonies and every time I go out I ollect a minimum of three bites! Want to get pics!!!!!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Danged rabbits eating bushes! It's happened to me, and danged mosquitos bugging us! I put on pants and sleeves and went out for a while. I got tired of trying to protect my eyes and ears. I came in.

I guess there are just some flowers we aren't going to have.

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

I just went out to take pics and got 3 more skitto bites. But I'll be posting!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Donna, yesterday our mosquitos have seemed to come to the end of their three day life. Or, all the weeding has let the wren and toad hop around more efficiently. It is just about done raining here. Yep, it's stopped. I was suprised to get rain so soon. I hope we have another beautiful day. I mowed yesterday and felt pretty good. I'm all caught up on work for a day. I need a me day.

'Cept, I have a cat who is blocking the computer screen and is looking for a way to get the wrong kind of attention. He won't just sit. He has to ''spray'' me and prance around before he will sit down.

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

Hey BP,
Spent Friday and Saturday at the American Peony Society Convention in Janesville Wisconsin. Poured like crazy. But we were all out in the Klehm peony fields anyway, and the show was, well, showstopping. But Friday and Saturday it just poured. I was driving home last night and there were times I could barely see through the pour.

Now going out, armoured against skitos. Hope it's unnecessary!

From the competition. Wow!

Yum! Do you know the name of that pink peony at the bottom of the pic?

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

Insome cases I was able to get the names, some not. I realize it is cruel to tease you like this, but they were so gorgeous I had to share.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

It's OK, still love ya... :)

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

It may very well be 'Cheese Country' from Klehm's Songsparrow. The petaloids opened up nicely in that show peony.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Donna, what gorgeous peonies!! Oh my!

Yeah, I luv ya too!

I have all these old peonies and I never think I should buy a new one. I have no good place to put the few I do have. I need another yard!!!

We were at a tiny cemetary yesterday and they had peonies and daylilies planted beside many graves. How refreshing to see that! Now they won't even let the artifical stay for long. I regret not taking a picture of them. Only a couple had raggedy blooms hanging on.

I guess you can see a couple in this picture.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Oh my gosh, they are like scoops of ice cream! I will look for a way to get a new peony!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I think the above peony I mentioned will stand to be corrected. It is 'LOIS E. KLEHM'. They are similar, but Lois has the three layered sundae look.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

They sure are gorgeous! I can't imagine how many peonies are really out there after having the same reds, whites and pinks, over the years.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

The threads are goofy today. This was in my threads to read, but not activated by anyone..

How is everyone?

I was soooo upset to not see the fern peony I so carefully dug up from Mom's and brought home to carefully replant! It's not there at all!! No big root, nothing! I had a fence around it and a marker. It had to be there!! I dug all around the spot.

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi BP! Nice to see you out here. Maybe the thread was activated by mind control.

We have had very strange weather here. It went up to 84 degrees about 3 weeks ago. Then we got six inches of snow. Now rain. Poor little plants are very confused.

I've had the same experience you have had with lactifloras a couple of years ago. I put in a Tourangelle and a Paul M. Wild that disappeared. I dug everywhere. Nothing ! Dog in a one foot diameter. Nothing!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

billyporter: I only have 1 problem with Picasa. Its not possible (at least I havnt figured out how) to drag and drop images in a collage. It isnt posseible to resize an image in a collage or anywhere else.
There is a new feature picnic something like that.
If you want to resize or filter anyting you have to "open in an editor" mine is photoshop.
Making albums and collages is easy. Picasa is free give it a try.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Hi Donna! Hmmm, my mind must be weak. I was actually thinking of the peony thread :o) I should have hunted it up and posted my fern peony there. I still might. I have no lily story yet.

Our weather is finally a typical April I think. It hasn't warmed up a lot, we've had rain, and I'm hoping, the last hard freeeze!

I should have been able to find the root. It was large. I gave the peony to Mom years ago and was sure anticipating dividing it this year. I was amazed to find nothing!

Ge, I haven't made up my mind about Picasa yet. I Googled it for opinions and problems, so I'm a bit wary. I know there are always those who just hate a program, so I do take it with a grain of salt. I don't change pictures much so Photoshop is more than I need. DH is better with that.

My SIL does have photoshop and offered it to us, so I have the option.

I guess I do have a lily story since I just took a picture. I have a no ID, that is tentatively named "Royal Sunset." I planted it three times the bulbs size. I noticed this Spring, the bulbs were to the surface and a rabbit chewed on one. This is how they look. They're still growing! Pretend you don't see any dandelion leaves :o)

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

This is last year's picture of the blooms.

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

What dandelion leaves? LOL

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

A closer look at your lilies... can't quite place them, they remind me more of Colosseo. Though the pics look like they were taken at the same place. :)

Thumbnail by Moby
Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I dug holes for lilies yesterday. Thunder now. Might not get to plant until Wed.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Donna, you don't have those either? LOL!

Moby, that is sooo close! I think I have the real name now! Laughing, great photo takers think alike :o)

Ge, what have you bought this time? Getting the holes dug is the most of the battle. I used to dig ahead of time and bring the dirt in to keep it dry Then I could plant as soon as they came. It didn't work for doing tulips as I would have had many buckets of dirt :o)

It started raining lightly off and on yesterday and still doing the same thing today. I'd like to get a picture of the peach tree. It's loaded with blossoms and only a couple, just popped open. It's going to be glorious!
