Daily Walks - 3

This is different. Lantana, and strawberry blooming together. Note the dirt still covering those strawberry leaves.

We even have some berries? I'm not thrilled with how they've grown in between the conduit and the baseboard of the gh, but DH and the kids love strawberries, so it's worth it. So do slugs, and roly poly bugs. Time to start protecting my crops from voracious insects again.

My pineapple plant is still hanging in there. I think it'll grow happier outside. Since it has a new pup in that pot, I'll be transplanting it after it finishes fruiting. : - )

Wow, look at the ground orchid bloom. You can see the foliage in this photo.

I just love these red pentas.

How about a pretty pink blooms on this Jade Plant?

A fuchsia berry. They are edible. The birds like them too!

The Quasar fuchsia is having a grand time blooming. : - )

I liked the way that Mrs. J.D. Fredericks fuchsia is putting on new leaves. I like the tracery of red in it's veins and in the centers of the newest leaves. Pretty isn't it?

I think this is my other Quasar that is getting ready to bloom. Can't read my own writing on the tag.

More fuchsia's, many with green berries starting to form, even though it is still blooming.

Oh boy, Beach photos!
On arriving on Feb. 7th. I took this photo from our balcony. Nice car!

The rocky beach.

The pier in Oceanside, CA.

Rocks, rocks every where!

It's hard to tell unless you know what you are looking for, but the San Luis Rey River is running parallel to the beach all the way out past the end of the pier. This takes away some of the sand, but it also replaces it over time. Or it used to before people started building breakwaters and all.

A treasure from the sea.

Underwater rocks.

A new piece of gneiss on the beach. Most of the surrounding rocks are rounded, the gneiss is angular still. Over time the action of the water, the sand and other rocks will round this one out too.

The water must have come up pretty high. That playground is so undermined that they won't let any one use it, and have it taped off! I wonder what happened to the fire rings?

A piece of conglomerate rock. Lots of pebbles locked in that sandstone.

I think I just found one of the fire rings. Wow, what a mess! Concrete and rebar can't stand up to the waves.

I just had to bring this rock home. It has our first initial on it, and it's underlined! LOL!

Some kids had built a sand fort using sand and drift wood among other things. They look like they are having some fun. : - )

The life guard station under the pier. Notice how high the beach is wet? I don't care if it's low tide, it was scary, but DH said we'd be fine crossing under the pier. I have my doubts.

DH's going for it, and I might as well take photos. That's his shoulder in the photo.

In between the waves I took this photo looking back the way we just came from. I notice the sand and the rocks are wet where I am standing. Best start gimping faster!

This is a negative low tide, but you wouldn't know it just by looking!

There were a whole bunch of sea gulls on the beach on the other side of the pier.

I just liked the mossy green rock in this photo. I've never seen it sticking out on the beach like this before.

See that break water way down at the end of the houses? That's where the San Luis Rey comes into the ocean. I think we actually walked all the way down there that day too!

Some seaweed washed up on the beach.

I got a lot of photos of this guy. He was having a good time looking for food.

Talk about burying your head in the sand! LOL! He was a cutie.
