Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Kelly, glad to send to you, but do you think they will make it in your zone?

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

They should be ok with some afternoon shade. After all they are a Texas native and most of Texas gets pretty hot☺ Thanks!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well okay then. Just wanted you to know that this was not the curassavica variety.

I wasn't concerned with the heat, but I was concerned about the winter dormancy. I see plant files lists them to zone 10! They do like it dry.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

They should do well here then - lol. I'll be sure and let you know how they do!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Maybe I should come check on them, say, January or February of next year? ;)

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I goggled Asclepias and found a WHOLE BUNCH of these plants. Now I have to find some of the others. I found them at Seneca Hills Perennials in their native plant files. They have alot of plants I'd like for my native plant area. A little pricey but Oh Well.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Marti,

Yes, there are lots of this family. They are good butterfly nectar plants but also Monarch host plants. Sometimes this type is hard to transplant because of a tap root and can be a slow grower. Mine was HUGE this year and flowered really nicely, hence all the seeds! I also like the Swamp milkweed. Lots taller and pinkish/purple flowers. a real hit too.

Spring, sorry to hear about your freeze. I heard over on the butterfly forum that they had zero flowers left!!

Middleton, TN(Zone 7a)
