Has anyone ever cut this hard back? It always looks at me funny when I approach it with secateurs in spring, and I can't bring myself to treat it like I do most other grasses. It aways seems to recover really well from winter anyway, bit I'm just interested to know how it would respond to the chop.
Helictotrichon sempervirens
They die to the ground in this climate, and therefore I cut them back completely in spring, with no ill effects.
Thanks for that Altagardener. They're evergreen here but look a bit dishevelled ad particularly with the older clumps, I'm tempted to cut them back. So now I will.
