Buggycrazy

I just hope that such people continue to live in blissful ignorance of the fruits of Lisa's labor.

More for us! >:p

Hey Moby! What did you do? Steal my Buggy Bulbs? We ordered the same things! Lol.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Of course I ordered Von Shtupp!
What, are you trying to make a naughty garden too??

I had submitted two different orders to Buggy and an oversight on my part caused the same item to show up on each order. Lisa E-mailed me to ask if that was really my intention. Well, no!, one of my all too frequent "senior moments"!! That she would take time from her very busy schedule to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted - extremely impressive!!! It is so rare these days to find someone who is so attentive to detail and honestly cares about the customer. I can think of no other vendor who would take time out to do something as thoughtful as Lisa did. She has my business for the remainder of my gardening efforts. Superior products - superior service!! Thank you, Lisa!!!

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

Some pretty suggestive names there...Buggy DOES sound like fun!

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

while reading the posts I wanted to add: Lisa is like someone I've known for a long, long time....just immediately in talking with her I feel as I've known her for ever, one of my longtime dear girlfriends....she's for real, she doesn't hurry you and she could care less what anyone thinks of her if they are coming from a negative approach...she gives what she gets!!!!! I love her and I love having a reason to talk with her yearly!!!! Deb PS...no reason, just like the picture....

I think the net result of all this is that people like me, who ordered from Buggy for the first time, will put her on their "go to lists". Making lemonade out of lemons.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I ordered from her last night since I'd always heard how wonderful she is and also to support her. I told her about her DG fans standing up for her as well.

Hyannis, MA(Zone 7a)

This is great! The outpouring of support from everyone says it all!!

BUGGYCRAZY reigns supreme!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

She didn't know me from Adam (or Eve) but still responded when I wrote to her earlier yesterday about having a problem logging on and she still stopped to help me. The fact that I lucked out on the ones I wanted most and having them available was wonderful.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Just you wait.....until you get them. You will be among the admirers ^_^

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

If I didn't feel sure (from all you fans of hers) I doubt I'd have ordered. I like people with principles.

Agawam, MA(Zone 6a)

Pirl, you will be amazed at the quality of her bulbs. Buggy is the best. I've been purchasing her bulbs for the last couple years and each year they seem to get bigger.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm looking forward to their arrival this week. It stunned me to order one day and then get the shipping notice. She is good.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

She's awesome.

Hyannis, MA(Zone 7a)

I have never received a puny sized bulb from her, like I consistently did from a supposedly "great" supplier and hybridizer in Washington state. I don't know about you, but I'd rather get one big bulb, than the 2 or 3 puny ones that will take years to mature. I don't find that acceptable. And you will not get that from Buggycrazy. :--)

I suggested that your link photo be a DG Bloom of the Day.

That was very sweet of you!
I just wanted to show what you get when you buy from Buggycrazy, only the best!!

Hyannis, MA(Zone 7a)

Pixie, Your photo inspired me to place yet another ........ order with Buggy. Yikes, I am planning on a week of planting! LOL, but really!

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Is somebody posting trash about Buggy again? Or is this the same person that did it a year or so ago?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Different

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

My order arrived. I'm speechless - odd for me! I'll be back later with photos! It's a triple OMG in big fat bold letters. Even my (adult) kids were stunned as was my husband!

Thanks to everyone of you for raving about Lisa/Buggy Crazy. You just didn't rave enough!

Hyannis, MA(Zone 7a)

That's great, Pirl. So happy you got your mammoth bulbs and can look forward to a beautiful, Lily-filled summer!!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

What? We didn't rave enough? For shame! Lol.

Dear pirl, I just can't believe it took all of this for you to find her. We rave about Buggy every year. It's as if we forget in one year's time what a magnificent crop of lilies she sends out ;)

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Once you've gotten Buggy's bulbs it kind of spoils you for others. I really do not know how she grows those monsters, but I'm glad she does. :)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Shame on me for not ordering from Lisa sooner! I'll have pictures downloaded before 10 PM.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Waiting...... ;)

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Me too...if it is Eastern Time we have to wait less than we thought ;)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Ack! I can't take the tension. I'll take care of it right now. Sorry for the delay.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

No pressure pirl, just making sure my alarm is set.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Finally!

What a perfect name for this stunning bulb...'Stunning'. It measures just a tad less than FOUR INCHES across!

So now tell me, from all I've read "size does matter when it comes to bulbs", and yet some people dispute it. I'd love to know how you feel about it.

I did leave positive feedback for Buggy Crazy as you might have guessed! There are more bulbs but they'll have to wait until tomorrow to show off so Stunning can have a moment of fame.

I can almost smell that bulb from here.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I really must be getting very old. Big bulbs excite me and so does organizing and cleaning out the garage. What's next? I'm afraid to think of what lies ahead.

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

Yes, size does matter, but within parameters. While the large bulbs such as those of Buggy Crazy's represent mature size for the type that they are (trumpet, oriental, orientpet, etc.) that can even grow larger, such is not the case for all types of lilies. Especially divergent are many of the species lilies, whose size is inherently much smaller, merely because of the type that they are.

A mature Lilium philadelphicum bulb may only be an inch in diameter, with a gigantic one having only (?) an inch and half diameter. Size does matter, but only within each different type

Certainly, species lilies provide the best examples, but even among hybrids there are differences. In general, you may find that orientpets can grow larger bulbs than orientals, or even trumpets.

Think of it this way: among peoples, there are differing sizes too. The Masai are reputed to be the tallest race, and the Hmong are one of the shortest. A very tall Hmong is a very short person if judged by the parameters of the Masai. But that same very tall Hmong is still very tall within his type (race).

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks for your help. I get it.

Back in October I received my order of six bulbs of Lily Nepalense and went to Plant Files to investigate because the size was surprisingly small. Bonitin was a tremendous help to me and assured me they were the correct size for that type of lily. Here's a photo - big difference from the one posted above but also different species.

There really is no room left for lilies (or anything else) because the only place I can put them is in tubs and all my tubs already have stuff in them (not that that has ever stopped me from sticking yet another bulb or two into the mix!). And I have already promised myself some of those early double tulips from Brent and Becky's when they do their annual 50% off sale after T-day; so, definitely -- no new lillies this year.

But I stumbled on this thread.. and couldn't resist checking out Buggy again (it has been 2 years since I ordered from her). BIG MISTAKE!

Next thing I knew, I had 10 plants in my Shopping Bag. Finally whittled it down to 5 dwarfs. I know I can squeeze those in somewhere... can't I?

jo

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Of course you can, dear.

Dallas, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh Moby, you're such a pal.

And that's only $30 with $10 shipping. At that price, I can add a few more. Like maybe another of my very favorite Touching orienpet. I know I can find a tub somewhere. Maybe that earthbox I used last year for a tomato plant at the front fence? I really didn't get enough tomatoes to merit the work and can use some local farmer's markets instead. Or maybe a Trumpet would make better use of that precious real estate - I can put the Touching somewhere else.. And maybe I should take another look at Buggy's other dwarfs. And now that I think about it, I think a bit more yellow would be nice. And...
