Korean Feather Reed Grass

Averill Park, NY(Zone 5b)

a/k/a Calamagrostis brachytricha, Achnatherum brachytricha. Hi. I wonder if someone's had this in their garden for a while? I'm trying to figure out how much space to leave around it. I've seen recommended spacing of 18", 24", and 36". I want to plan for its eventual growth, because I want to put a Pennisetum orientale 'Karley Rose' on either side of it and don't want to be digging up grass in three years. Any advice would be appreciated!

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

If you want it to stay separate, I would give it 3 feet. In the fall on a mature plant (the clump never really stops growing) the "feathers" will spread even farther.
