This is Switch Cane, Arundinaria gigantea tecta, that is native to the coastal plain from Maryland to Florida to Texas & Oklahoma. It gets to about 6 feet high and does spread by underground stems like most temperate bamboo species. I took these photos in Chesapeake, VA in mid-February 2017. |
