Jim and Debi of Nearly Native Nursery are very kind and helpful. Their property is just beautiful. If you live in the Atlanta area you must stop by one day and see them and the wonderful habitat they have created. They provide personal service and top quality native plants.

I am beginning to plant native (drought tolerant) plants/bushes in my yard and found Jim and Deb Rodgers of Nearly Native Nursery on the internet. Their knowledge, friendly personalities, and customer service have made me a customer for life!

I ordered several palm and Yucca plants from this nursery last month. Jim took the time to talk to me on the phone and take the order. The plants arrived the next week in great shape. These plants were packaged with great care. I will order from this nursery in the future growing seasons.

After many many months of searching in the internet, I finally located Nearly Native Nursery that offers me a chance at acquiring the Silene polypetela. I emailed the company and received a quick response back saying they have the plants. I also had the chance to speak to Jim personally with regard to planting instructions. He was very informative and helpful. The company is also very responsible - when the delivery date drew near, they contacted me to inquire if they could hold the plants 2-3 weeks longer because of the unforseen cold spell they had recently and that it would be best if they let the plants regain their vigor before shipping them. Three weeks later, I received an email saying the plants are ready for shipment. They all made it - good job packing. I will certainly return to this nursery looking for other native plants.

Nearly Native Nursery is a great fun place to shop for plants. Jim & Debi have many varieties and are very knowledgeable and creative with suggestions for creating a beautiful landscape.

I found Nearly Native when looking for a supplier of native plants with Loblolly Bay trees. The plants that I received were healthy, well packaged and reasonably priced with no mark up for the fact that they are native, rare etc. The owners were kind and helpful where any issue of plant availability or difficulties with payment options occurred. I could not have been more lovingly cared for if they were my relatives. Their plants are well loved and carefully packaged to arrive at their new homes in great shape.

I found Nearly Native Nursery when searching to find a source of seed or bulbs of a very hard to find plant, Lilium catesbaei. This plant has a reputation of being difficult, and I could not find anyone else who even offers it. I got the plants I was looking for and the plants were well packed for shipping and arrived in great shape. I could not be happier. Jim and Debi were extremely helpful in all regards and answered all my questions, and provided general information on other native lilies of the south which was much appreciated. Communication was great.

I visit family in Fayetteville Ga which ALWAYS includes a stop at the Nearly Native Nursery. Jim & Debi are knowledgable & show true Southern hospitality. They are never too busy to answer questions, give advice & listen to your gardening experiences. The plant was sent as promised and arrived in good shape even tho the package was damaged. I believe the way it was packaged at the nursery enabled the plant to arive without damage, I was impressed.

Excellent service over the phone with locating plants. Nursery offered an incredible selection of so many native species, all in excellent condition and very robustly growing. I went to the nursery to get native azaleas, hydrangeas, and Calycanthus, but was surprised to find Franklinia, a tree I've been interesting in growing for some time. Jim and all the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with information about the plants. This nursery offers a valuable resource, as a source of so many great native species, that I haven't found anywhere else.

I have visited Nearly Native Nursery two times--once in the fall (2007) and again in May (2008). Both times, Jim & Debi were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the native plant specimens that they offer for sale.
Nearly Native Nursery has a large offering of southeastern native plants and all plants that I purchased were healthy & have transplanted well.

I drove to Nearly Native Nursery yesterday and had a great experience shopping on site. Both Jim and Debi were extremely helpful. Jim provided very good advice on planting palms, even advising against buying one plant that might not succeed in the Atlanta area. All of the plants available for purchase were well-developed and thoroughly marked with planting information. The palms in particular had markers showing the date of propagation. They also had a well-constructed demonstration garden, making Nearly Native a place well worth visiting if you live in the area. This is one mom and pop operation where the owners are intensely focused on customer satisfaction and their attention to detail is spot on.

Was looking for Lindera benzoin and found it online at Nearly Native Nursery. Gave them a call and ordered three plants. They were very congenial and very helpful. The plants arrived in great condition from Georgia to Ohio in just two days.

I am developing a wildlife habitat as part of a Conservation Reserve Program. Nearly Native Nursery has a valuable on-line catalog to help in the selection of trees and shrubs that are important for food and habitation sources for wildlife. I enjoyed reading the catalog as much as I did in the selection of plants.
My plants arrived in great condition for the packing was excellent.

I have been trying to find a Franklinia tree in Arkansas for a couple of years now.....I had one in Pennsylvania several decades ago and loved it. No nursery locally knew of the tree nor would they order me one, so I went on line and called a few nurseries in the southeast US. Several were not that knowledgable about the tree and some of the nurseries I called were quite informed. Jim Rodgers at Nearly Native took all the time I wanted and needed to answer all my questions about the tree and to get a good feel for the location (shade/sun/soil/drainage/etc) where I anticipated planting my purchase. We discussed, at length the problems of growning the tree in the heat of the south. Finally, we discussed the shape of the tree that I wanted (many Franklinia are multi trunked) and Jim assured me that he would pick the creame of the crop single trunked 4-5 ft. tree he could find.

I felt reasured and placed the order on a Friday night. The order was filled and shipped on the following Tuesday, Monday being a holiday, and I received it on Friday. I immediately unpacked the container, not an easy chore because of the great care taken to keep the tree from being damaged in shipping. Because the weather here was still in the high 30's at night I waited a week to plant the new tree. Now, two weeks later it is shooting leaves and I am smiling at the number 13 Franklinia tree registered in the state of Arkansas.

The only concern I had regarding my order was the final price charged on my card was $9.00 more that what was quoted when I ordered the tree. After looking at the enclosed bill I found there was a $9.00 surcharge added by UPS for the oversized shipping container. Since I work for UPS I knew this to be their/our custom.

One of the many great things about this company is their website. They have an "advanced search" option that allows users to select their soil, light, pH and water conditions and search for plants that meet some or all of those criteria. Users can also narrow searches by type: evergreen versus deciduous, or vine, tree, shrub, etc.
Another great thing is the nursery itself. Every time I go, Jim and his wife have made some great improvement(s). They work tirelessly, not only in providing a growing inventory of (mostly) native plants, including endangered and extinct-in-the-wild plants, but in ensuring the health and robustness of their specimens.
After dealing with these guys, it's become extremely difficult to consider using any other nursery!

I was very pleased with the service from Nearly Native Nursery - I wrote an email inquiring about an item that was listed as sold out until the fall, and they actually went and checked for me, and found that they were able to send a couple very small plants, which they did at a quite reasonable price! I have looked at plants on this website for 2 years. I finally placed an order in December and received the order February 29th.(The weather was terrible so I wanted a later delivery). The plants were MORE than I could have anticipated...the packing kept them safe (I couldn't have done what they did...a fortune in clear sticky tape) The sizes were generous and the plants were vigorous and ready to bloom ( the native azaleas and rhodedendrons) I got them in the ground and the roots were full. If the a plant fails; it's on me not them. I will DEFINITELY order from NNN this fall. If you like native plants (and you should) order from these folks.

When I called to place the order, the owner of the company answered. He talked to me for over 20 minutes about my choices, as well as some plants i was considering for the future. If you want someone passionate about natives and Southeastern Gardenning, this is your guy.

when my plants came (two days later) they were very securely wrapped and moist. They were listed as 1 gallon sized and all had extensive root systems and were 2.5 - 3 ft tall and well branched.

I will definitely order again, or better yet drive down for a visit in person.

I found the company's website about a year ago, and have been using it as a research tool to investigate native plants to use in re-landscaping my yard. I planned my vacation this November to be able to visit the nursery and view the plants in person. On the day of my visit, the temperature dropped below 50 and the wind was whipping across the landscape. Never the less, Jim spent several hours showing me his prize plants, and explained their needs, and how his offerings differed from the more commonly-available specimens of their species. He and his wife were so helpful and obviously cared that I found the right plants for me. I wasn't sure if I wanted the Chinquapin Oak or the Chinkapin shrub, and Jim was honest and advised me to avoid the oak due to the disease problem the species is suffering and of which I was unaware. I've got business cards for the nursery, and plan to hand them out to my friends at our next FL Native Plant Society meeting. Jim is incredibly knowledgeable about his plants, and I think he can tell some of the professors here in Gainesville a few things about them. I strongly recommend this company to anyone considering mail order or pick up of the varieties they sell.

As part of a research medicinal plant garden, I needed to procure 2 kg. of Franklinia tree leaves. They went out of their way to select the leafiest trees, sent a digital photo to make sure we thought we could harvest enough leaves, did a beautiful job of packaging the trees (we bought 5) and called to check up on the order. The items were shipped promptly to the correct address. I could tell they were personally invested in this plant and in this sale. We gave out their business card at our recent Mississippi Native Plant Society annual meeting!

I have known Jim and Debi, owners of Nearly Native Nursery forever. And I honestly have never met anyone who knows more about plant species than these 2. And they give the absolute best customer service. They care about you and they want to educate you about plants. They know their stuff but they don't overwhelm you or try to get you out the door. They take their time with you and try to help you find the best plants for your needs. You won't be disappointed at Nearly Native Nursery!

I recently visited their new nursery site and bought several plants. All plants were in excellent condition and the staff were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Jim even gave me a free Nearly Native T-shirt!! I had priviously purchased plants from them online; I will definitely buy from them again. This is a classy operation.
