I ordered a gallon sized 'Dwight D. Eisenhower' on the 20th of May, very excited to find a decent-sized plant of this uncommon variety. When my plant arrived, I was very disappointed to discover that I had been sent a one twig wonder whose tiny rootball--which looked as though it had been rooted in the same bag it was mailed in--fit into a 4" pot with room to spare and was only about 6" tall.

I emailed them on May 30, explaining my dismay, and they wrote back, "...we are very sorry that this has taken place, and we would definetly like to make it up to you asap. Is there anything else you are interested in which we could send you free of charge to make up for these circumstances. Please let me know and i will ship them quickly. Thank you,". The next day, I asked if I could have 'Flower City', and day after that they sent a message that they would check their inventory and get back to me.

That was the last I heard from them, in spite of polite emails on June 11 and 17, plus a phone message on the 18th. I have disputed the charges on my card, as I never did receive the gallon 'Dwight D. Eisenhower' I paid for. The tiny twig I did get was potted up the next day and continues to look wilted and poorly to this date. I would not use or recommend this supplier, based on this unhappy experience.

Within several hours of this review being posted, I at last received an email from this company, "what would you like a plant replacement or a refund of the cost, sorry that we took so long as we are very busy.". I mailed back, "...Thank you for getting back to me. The offer of a bonus plant like 'Flower City' was very nice, but, since the little 'Dwight D. Eisenhower' is looking so very unhealthy at this point, I would really just like a sturdy, gallon sized 'Dwight D. Eisenhower', like I had ordered. If you want what's left of the poor little one, I can certainly mail it to you: I have no interest in taking advantage of you. Please let me know if this is possible. Thank you for your time." After a bit of phone tag, a younger employee called me and informed me that there weren't any 'D.D.E.' of a decent size available, would I like a different one to replace it or a refund? Since I have limited garden space, I opted for a refund.

Today, I received a call from the owner. He informed me that he "doesn't do refunds", that the tiny twig he sent me was somehow really lived in a gallon sized pot before shipping, and that he really didn't owe me anything, but would make a *special* exception and mail me a replacement, maybe this fall, maybe next year. As I had located a plant from another nursery by this time, I declined this offer.

He also assured me that almost no one in the retail business has any kind of guarantee on their plants, which, apart from being untrue, is rather beside the point. I ordered one thing and received something other, something lesser, while he kept my full payment. I was offered a refund, then told no, they will not give my money back, and in a patronizing manner as well. This has been my worst ever mail order experience.
