Comments regarding My Pet Chicken

I ordered 10 asst. silkies and 5 mille fleur but ordered them for the wrong date, i called and had to change the date and change my order to 15 asst. featherfooted bantams which I didnt have a problem with since i was getting great customer service and dealing with very friendly people. I did lose 5 of the chicks, 3 came dead and 2 died within the next two days. I left a message last night and was called this morning and had the losses credited to my card. I would have this review as positive just because of the great customer service I recieved but the shipping is what didnt sit right. After paying $30 ish for shipping express mail, it was disapointing watching them arrive in Fargo at 10 am and sit there untill 1 am the next day. With my order from murray mcmurray they were sent priority mail and arrived in the same amount of time. So my main complaint is with the postal service rather than My Pet Chicken. Great Customer service tho. I do believe some of the blame is on myself for ordering 15 bantams when it is still rather early in the year. Will update in the future.

I ordered 15 chicks from mypetchicken they sent 16. I am sad to say only 15 made it alive. I was refunded for the 1 bird that didnt make it with no questions asked. I only ordered 15 though so I still have the correct number of birds, but I ordered 5 specific breeds and the one that was d.o.a. was in that mix. I also ordered 5 assorted rare breeds and 5 assorted brown egg layers. I think i have at least 10 different types of hens now. It has been three weeks and all 15 are so full of energy they are already trying to fly the inside coop!!!! I am in the process of making another order for 25 more chick/hens. I will have over 30 breeds come July. Shipping was flat rate. I placed my order on a Monday and it was received at my post office Wednsday morning. I had my birds at home in the brooder by 9:30 am, and i was told the birds would not arrive until thursday/friday. I was really happy with how fast they actually shipped. MyPetChicken is the best as far as what my research and experience has proven. Best variety. Best customer service. Best website for chickens ever. no matter what you need.

24 Assorted Orpington Hatching Eggs sent 3 weeks after my original ship date. I received shipping email AFTER I had already received my eggs. All Blue/Splash were true infertiles (did a breakout analysis of clear eggs), all Lavender were rotten with already forming embryos. The air cells were rather large, indicating they weren't fresh (only took 24 hours once shipped). Only 5 Buff Orpingtons hatched -one with abnormal toes, one with deformed wings, and all abnormally huge. I'm not kidding. There really were this many issues. There were obvious infertility and other genetic issues. I emailed the company twice with no response. I do know how to hatch eggs and am very knowledgable on fertility, egg structure, etc, as I have hatched many shipped eggs, so this is not a review based out of ignorance. It has nothing to do with the PO, but has everything to do with sending out a defective product from a breeder/hatchery with flock management issues.

Ordered 2 Black Copper Marans May 2012 with an assortment of other breeds. They both died one within a day the other 2 days later. All the other breeds survived to adulthood. I think it was a weak batch. I have received 2 other chicks in the past with deformities that were not as noticeable until they were feathering out. I spoke to them about the 2 copper m's that died and they only offered to replace one, but not the shipping.

ordered 15 day old chicks...and was very impressed! Chicks were mailed in a box with a "nest" built in the bottom to keep them warm. Chicks were healthy (and mypetchicken sent info on what to do if they had not been.) No problems at all, and when this batch grows up and stops laying eggs....we will be ordering from them again!

I highly recommend MPC! I ordered 8 assorted chicks from them about a month ago with a hatch date of Sept. 4th. They shipped out of the hatchery at 4:00 p.m. on the 4th and were in my hands in CA just after noon the next day. Not even 24 hours! They were all healthy and active and took to eating and drinking immediately. They are now a month old and are thriving. This company's customer service is outstanding, they are extremely friendly and very helpful.

Chicks are easy to raise but do have a few important requirements. MPC's web site has a wealth of info on this topic and much more. They make it easy for even first time chicken owners to get started and be successful raising a flock.

My 9 assorted 1-day old chicks we delivered in perfect condition within 24 hours of my shipment notice and are beautiful.

My four black copper maran chicks arrrived about 24 hours after they were shipped. They were very lively and healthy and are doing great!

I ordered 5 female chicks with a hatch date of May 14, 2012. They arrived amazingly healthy, happy and beautiful May 15, 2012. I was impressed with the quality of packing, and the chicks themselves were exactly what I wanted and they've exceeded my expectations. The Wyandottes are exceptionally beautiful, and the two EE's are wonderful. I have yet to discover a "fault" in any of the birds I received, and at 3.5 months they are big, healthy pullets. I could not be more satisfied with this company.

I ordered six Buff Orpington chicks for delivery on July 24, and all arrived in good shape - healthy, active. However, I decided to wait until they were a month old to post a review, thinking I could provide more accurate comments then. I'm happy to report that all the girls are still doing great.

The customer support folks at My Pet Chicken provided prompt, helpful replies to my queries, and the quality of the chicks was first-rate. I look forward to ordering from My Pet Chicken again.

Ordered a mix of rare/exotic chicks back in April. I was told that July 30 was my ship date, and it was. I received my babies-and I think the breeds are all correct on Aug. 1. They are all healthy, cheeping and thriving. I also purchased some supplies ( the cardboard brooder box, chick starter, feeder and waterer) and am glad I did. They are all set up in my garage and doing well. Loads of helpful info on their website as well. Would highly recommend them.

I ordered chickens from mypetchicken.com. I recieved all 8 today. They are all healthy and they all eat and drink.I can't tell yet if they are the right gender but I believe they are the right breeds. They answered all the questions I had. Great place to order chickens!

I am SO VERY HAPPY with the Barred Rock Chicks I ordered thru MyPetChicken.com and shipped from Meyer Hatchery in Ohio. I called the office with a question and the staff was great-very informative and reassuring. The ordering of only a small number of day-old chicks (5) was a breeze. My chicks came one day old at my local post office and I WAS THRILLED that the chicks were all healthy and active. I was impressed by the packaging of the chicks-warm and secure. I've been following recommendations from MyPetChicken.com Care Guide and the chicks are doing great in my brooder box in my utility room. They are 3-weeks old today and they have more-than-doubled their size and they are very active and appear to be on the right track to be good, no Great hens and rooster. Cheers to MyPetChicken.com and Meyer Hatchery (who I later found had hatched and shipped the chicks) Their shipping experience and methods were Super! And they correctly sexed my chicks, which was very important to me. I recommend you patronize this business.

We got our 2nd shipment of chicks this morning. The Postmaster called us around 5-5:30 this morning. Last time, the call came in the afternoon from a different post office even though we live in the same place. (be prepared to go to another post office than you are used to)

Like the first time, all were in great health. We are enjoying every moment with both of our flocks.

Our experience with My Pet Chicken has been positive. I made contact with them via email for more information concerning my delivery of chicks. They were very helpful with the customer service that was provided. 18 chicks arrived at our local Post Office alive and peeping very loudly. One seemed to be very sluggish from the long journey. I made contact through email-took the appropriate steps given-our little chick is now one of this most lively little critters of them all. I would definately purchase from them in the future. They are highly recommended to anyone who asks where we got our feathery babies from.

The chicks arrived on the second day. They were in good shape and began eating and drinking with very little coaxing. The chicks are calm and friendly and extremely cute. We followed all the directions posted on My Pet Chicken website. We are very pleased with the chicks and the company.

A friend recommended this company and my experience with My Pet Chicken was great! The website is informative and user-friendly. I was able to order six chicks--five different breeds.

They arrived when expected in a cosy nest box with a warming pack, all in excellent condition. After six days, they are drinking, eating cheeping, and growing quickly!

I just LOVE this company! Everyone is very nice and extremely customer-oriented, which is unusual these days. They answered my emails and calls promptly.

I rec'd my 7 chicks yesterday-they were all warm and fuzzy and chirping up a storm! My local post office couldn't get over the great packaging-we got to hear some horror stories about other company's shipping chicks... We are new to chickens and wanted a few different breeds-the fact that we could have just a few of each shipped was wonderful. We couldn't order 25 as most others have for a minimum order.

The chicks are running around, eating & drinking and seem very happy. We have another 3 coming in a few weeks, which will bring our total to 10. And we're seriously thinking about building a bigger chicken "barn" so we can order more-the whole experience was so much fun and we're now addicted! (The chicken care booklet download-that is FREE download-is great for us first-timers too.)

We ordered 10 day-old chicks and even though they arrived the day after shipping and we picked them up at the post office before noon, three were D.O.A. and another clearly-weak chick died within 48 hours. We then lost another (No. 5) 4 days after arrival. Because the 5th (making 50% dead) died outside their 48-hour window, we are getting no refund on our shipping ($37) and if we reorder with My Pet Chicken it will push our total to over $150 in an attempt to receive 10 healthy chicks.

The people at My Pet Chicken are pleasant and extremely helpful. The chickens I have received have been healthy. I highly recommend them!

I just LOVE MyPetChicken! I just received my third order from them and all 12 chickies arrived exactly on time and healthy and I live in Florida. My first year, I ordered 8, the second year 16. I do prefer the smaller order as it comes Express. I lost one out of the largest shipment (which came Priority - two days in transit) and the company refunded the amount without question immediately. Their customer service is above and beyond. I now have 10 different breeds in my flock and I get at least 8 different colors of eggs. I particularly like the sky blue and lime green eggs! MyPetChicken has such a wonderful selection of layers!

I ordered the 'brown egg layer assortment' and a light Brahma rooster, seven chicks in late October. Three weeks later, all are thriving. It has been very fun trying to guess the breeds! I am very pleased with those selected for me.

My Brahma was a special request. This breed was not listed as available, but the request was accommodated, kindly via a telephone conversation.

Email has always been promptly answered.

I will most definitely order again from My Pet Chicken.

I just received happy, healthy chicks Tuesday from MPC. They are all eating and drinking....too cute. This was my second time ordering from them. This is the best company for ordering chicks. They were shipped Monday and I received Tuesday morning @ 10:30. Customer service oriented and very sweet.

This is my third delivery of chicks from MPC. They called at 2:00 on Monday...they had to substitute a chick and called to ask which one I would like...and my chickens arrived at 10:00 am Tuesday. Man that was quick!! All of the chicks are healthy, happy and active!

I picked this website and hatchery because they offered so much great information. Their site was easy to navigate. I felt very comfortable ordering here. I ordered 18 chicks of various breeds. They arrived from CT to Colorado and we didn't lose one single chick. They were healthy, active and so darn cute. If you just keep track of their vents getting gunked up if you know what I mean, you will have no problems. We were so happy, we ordered 12 more chicks and they too arrived safe and sound. We haven't lost one chick. They are growing like crazy and just as friendly as can be. I would buy again and again from mypetchicken.com. What a super, fantastic business and service they provide to the public.

New chicken owner here. Bought the Alexandria coop and it's great. well designed, great customer support and frankly, I don't know how they put such a superior product together and ship it for such a great price. I live in Los Angeles, and I really think it would have cost me more to just buy the lumber and hardware retail.

I had a few questions, which they took the time to answer (which was a while because I've never had chickens before). During my chat with them, I asked what the color name was in case I wanted to touch up the coop, and I suggested they double latch the door in the future. A week later, a package of touch up paint and an extra latch just shows up in the mail. Where else do you get customer service like that????? I'm very impressed and grateful that I felt I had a lifeline for any questions or problems I might run into. So far, all six chicks are happy and safe in their new home!

My Pet Chicken is one of the best companies I've ever dealt with. I bought six baby chicks this summer (six different breeds) and they all arrived in great shape. They are now seven weeks old and they are the friendliest chickens I've ever owned (and beautiful). I also bought a chicken coop from My Pet Chicken and am thrilled with it. It is very well made and predator proof. I made several calls to My Pet Chicken with questions about chicken care and coops and each person I talked to was very knowledgeable and helpful. There isn't anything this company could have done better. I love my coop, I love my chickens and I love My Pet Chicken. Five stars for sure!

Rather than get my chicks at the grain store, this year I got them from My Pet Chicken and it was a great experience.
Was able to order the breed, and the sex that I wanted. Only got 1 rooster which was what I ordered. The shipping was incredibly fast, the babies were packed very well with cushioning and even a little heat pack. They were all very healthy and have all grown into beautiful birds. We are waiting for our first eggs, shouldn't be long now.

We Love them. And couldn't be happier with the service from My Pet Chicken. Their site has a wealth of information for every chicken owner.

I chose MyPetChicken because I could order as few as 1 of a type from a good variety, and have them sexed so I don't end up with lots of roosters! All communications with MPC have been quick and clear and helpful. No problem when I canceled one order and made a new one. Chicks arrived in 1 day (all the way to Hawaii!), all in good shape. They are now 11 days old...clean, healthy, funny, happy...we all love them! Thank you!!!!!

my girls are now just starting to lay eggs, and my pet chicken has been there from day one. being new to back yard chickens , they answer all my questions, and did i have a lot, i will always go back to my pet chicken in the future for more chicks. one more thing it a race to the coop to retrive the eggs, i wish i did it years ago. thanks

We've begun assembling the coop and are very impressed with the quality of the materials and the cleverness of the design. The coop will fit beautifully under our second floor elevated sunroom. Our next challenge is to incorporate a small pond for the ducks!

Thank you for your prompt and courteous responses to my emails. I would definitely recommend your products to animal lovers who want to have attractive and well-built housing for their feathered friends. My chihuahuas are eying it up, too but I think they will be observers and visitors not inhabitants!

I ordered baby chicks for the first time with My Pet Chicken, I always just bought them from our near by feed store, and was I surprised when I picked them up at our post office. They were very clean. healthy, beautiful baby chicks. I've had them for two days now and the are doing wonderful. I will definitly order from MPC from now on.

I received my four chicks right on time. After all of the very useful information provided by mypetchicken.com, we were well prepared. The chicks were in perfect condition, with four nice fluffy butts (no pasty butt), very energetic, and immediately took to their new home. I'm so grateful to have had such a positive experience my first time buying chicks online. I will definitely do it again!

In June we ordered 8 chicks of 4 different breeds, to be delivered in August. The chicks arrived exactly how and when promised, and all healthy and beautiful - the postmistress even commented that she hadn't seen such a good-looking group, and they get a lot of chick shipments in our zip area. This is the second time I've ordered hatchery chicks, and my first order from My Pet Chicken. It was a bit of an impulse buy, as the company was offering a half-price, no shipping charge deal on 25 large breed female chicks with a minimum of 5 different breeds to come. How could I not jump on that?
The website is easy to navigate, and has a lot of information. I picked August 1st as my delivery week, and the chicks arrived on the 3rd, all active, healthy and alert. I even received one extra chick, which not all companies will do.
I got a nice assortment, although the yellow ones are unidentifiable at this age - they could be several different breeds. I did receive 4 Dominiques for sure, which pleases me greatly. That is a less-common breed and one I really like. I might have gotten some Welsummers too, but I'm not positive - this is a fun way to get new chickens.
I've had them for 3 days now, and they are thriving. I'm very pleased with their health. If I ever need to get mail-order chicks again, My Pet Chicken will be at the top of the list.

I ordered my three little peepers to have some backyard layers. They are doing great! They all started eating and drinking right after I showed them their food and water. My Pet Chicken has provided lots of information to make sure I know how to care for the little chicks. I'm looking forward to their delicious eggs in a few months, and I'll enjoy their company while I work in the garden.

We ordered six hatching eggs, seven arrived in perfect condition with excellent instructions, and under our broody hen, six of the seven hatched! We were surprised and delighted, since the hatch rate is predicted to be only about 50%. All six are now healthy happy three-week-old chicks (five girls and a boy!) and our hen is thankfully running around outside again, taking care of them. We're looking forward to our next round of hatching, next spring! And will definitely get our eggs from My Pet Chicken.

Our first order from MyPetChicken was for a chicken coop plan. We needed to build a release cage for a rescue squirrel and decided that it should be usable after the 2 weeks. We spent a couple weeks investigating plans and the coop plans at MPC were the best. The instructions were easy to follow and the squirrel loved it for the week she spent in it. She is free roaming in the back yard for 2 months now.

We got our 6 EE chicks a little over a week ago from MPC. All arrived safe and caused quite the stir in my office. I anticipate several of them will be ordering from MPC soon, including the mail carrier. One chick wasn't interested in eating or even being fed and water with an eye dropper. so died 5 days after we got her. Sad, but the other 5 are thriving and growing like weeds!
