This company resorts to a trick to rip the customer off on shipping. The web page showing your shopping cart has the following statement: "Shipping cost will be calculated by our shipping department at the time of shipment.: $0.00"

One would think that a small item like an inline hose filter costing $10.40 could be shipped by USPS for $2-3. How about $14.51! When I received an email from them giving this shipping cost, I immediately called them to cancel the order. They said it had already shipped and to add insult to injury there would be a 25% restocking fee if it were returned.

I spoke to their sales manager, Mike Cunningham, who told me that there was a $6.95 handling fee. And where does that appear? Not on the shopping cart page. It is buried in fine print in a link on a separate column of their home page. Yet the remaining $7.56 to ship a small, lightweight item is still not justified. Why do other major gardening suppliers like A.M. Leonard, Park Seed, Wayside Gardens, Henry Fields, all show shipping costs on their cart page and you don't, I asked. He said their software doesn't link up with UPS. But their statement on shipping claims that they will choose the best method which could include USPS.

Clearly, this firm is attempting to rip off its customers by inflating its shipping charges and concealing the charges from the customer until it is too late to do anything about it.
