I have purchased 25 gallon Haviland Nursery Cans from this company on several occasions. Each time my total cost for 10 pots delivered was under $ 94.00. They do not give a shipping cost when you place your order. This is plainly explained before you purchase. They send you an email with the shipping cost and total price for your approval before they ship or charge your credit card. If you don't approve of the shipping cost the order is canceled. I did a lot of internet research before I made my purchase. They offer the best prices on large tree pots with the best shipping price I have found anywhere. I will purchase from this company again and again and again.

I've ordered twice from J R Johnson and both times were very good experiences. My orders were for hard-to-find garden chemicals for my irises.... and I am very happy that J R Johnson is continuing to offer them. Their prices are reasonable for the chemicals, and I did not find the shipping to be excessive for my order at all. The items were well-packaged and arrived in a timely manner. I will definitely reorder garden chemicals from them in the future. Ev =)

This company resorts to a trick to rip the customer off on shipping. The web page showing your shopping cart has the following statement: "Shipping cost will be calculated by our shipping department at the time of shipment.: $0.00" One would think that a small item like an inline hose filter costing $10.40 could be shipped by USPS for $2-3. How about $14.51! When I received an email from them giving this shipping cost, I immediately called them to cancel the order. They said it had already shipped and to add insult to injury there would be a 25% restocking fee if it were returned. I spoke to their sales manager, Mike Cunningham, who told me that there was a $6.95 handling fee. And where does that appear? Not on the shopping cart page. It is buried in fine print in a link on a separate column of their home page. Yet the remaining $7.56 to ship a small, lightweight item is still not justified. Why do other major gardening suppliers like A.M. Leonard, Park Seed, Wayside Gardens, Henry Fields, all show shipping costs on their cart page and you don't, I asked. He said their software doesn't link up with UPS. But their statement on shipping claims that they will choose the best method which could include USPS. Clearly, this firm is attempting to rip off its customers by inflating its shipping charges and concealing the charges from the customer until it is too late to do anything about it.
