I've ordered 21 plants from this company this month and sent them half a dozen emails concerning my order (NONE of which received a reply). I paid for the first half of the plants last week and told them to hold until the 23rd, stating there would be more added onto the order.

I won my other plants and they sent me an invoice today asking me for a shipping price that didnt combine the orders. I sent them an angry reply but God knows they won't read that either.

They complain about their high volume of emails but don't even own a phone for customer service support. I don't know if I'll even receive any plants at all, so far they seem like a scamming company.

I am going to try this ONE more time here where maybe I can get a response.. No one replied to my last e-mails to the Sandi or in Ebay regarding this order.

I asked, and Sandi agreed, to ship after Monday May 12 since I was out of town on business, and I couldn't (wasn't allowed to) pick the order up even though I live just a little over an hour away and was in Greenwood SC the week after my auctions closed. Instead the order was shipped Thursday May 8, and these tiny plants sat in a box for FIVE days on my porch in the sun.

Both the little (and pricey at $18 each including shipping for a one shoot two inch plug) Gold Heart dicentras are not recovering nor is the clematis; whether they make it only time will tell. Two of the three brunnera are gone and no it's not time for them to "go dormant"!. Everything else is in my "nursery" receiving TLC and will have to stay there for some time before they can be planted in the garden.

I have really gotten some great plants from Ebay and some people seem to have the knack for packaging and shipping plants and getting them to you healthy. Another seller sent me some wonderful (potted, not stripped) native plants and has e-mailed me twice just to be sure they arrived OK and are thriving! A grower in OREGON just shipped me a huge gallon Epimedium in full leaf for $16 including shipping, which is in the ground and putting out like crazy, but it really has become a coin toss as to what you'll get, in terms of both plants and service. I'll come here to Dave's Garden before buying ANYTHING again from an Ebay plant company to check out feedback for sure!!

I will leave Perfect Plant appropriate feedback in Ebay beginning June 1, primarily because of the failure to respond to my e-mails and messages in Ebay.

We do our best to answer all emails. I am sure you can understand this is our busiest time. Because of this, Dave's garden messages rarely get checked. I have refunded for the plants you mentioned. I am sorry the order could not be stopped when you requested it to be shipped on a specific date. Your plants are guaranteed for a full year. If others fail we will replace them.

It is true we do not allow pick ups on orders. We are a small business that does not have facilities for visitors.

I am hoping to change this rating but at the moment am getting really frustrated. I bought some plants from these people off of ebay. I bought three chocolate cosmos, one joe pye weed and three shasta daisy's. There shipping is really odd as they won't ship everything together. Seems a waste of there own money. They shipped some of the chocolate cosmos on a day where it ended up sitting in the post office all weekend. They were not alive when they finally got here. I emailed and they sent replacements......in two separate shipments, two arrived decent but were dead within a couple days. I have emailed twice now to see what can be done about this and they have not emailed back. I am not stuck with 5 dead chocolate cosmos (3 original, 3 replacements minus one that has regrown a bit from the roots) and one dead joe pye weed. I get that I didn't pay a ton of money for these plants, but I paid way more then I would have locally for there size. If they had sent healthy plants then I would probably shop with them again. I am very frustrated with all of this but mostly it seems that none of my emails get answered. When I emailed the first time for replacements it took MANY emails before I got an answer. I was told that my emails "slipped through the cracks". I guess it happened again.

I will be glad to change this rating if things are fixed......I am not sure how that can happen now though. Shipping mid-late week is ridiculous. Plants sitting in a post office over the weekend are NOT going to survive. Arg.

Well, out of nowhere a joe pye weed plant arrived today. It had a note that said it was dormant....not dead. Odd since the one I got a few weeks ago was about 5" tall. It is growing a tad from the pot so that is something. I am not willing to change my rating though until all the plants that I ordered are here and alive. Once I have two more live chocolate cosmos than I will consider. I am still horrified by the amount of unanswered emails and am not sure I will shop with perfect plant even IF things are fixed but it would show some tact on their part.

At first I was going to post a neutral (plants were tiny, only one was in a pot. For $18.50 for 2 plants, I expected a bit more). Then I received an email asking me to delete my "neutral" rating on Ebay, with a sarcastic comment that I can't expect them to send "mature" plants through the mail.

Since I got email from other buyers telling me their plants were also tiny, it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. (I was also told that some won't post neutral or negative ratings about Perfect plant on Ebay because they're seen retaliatory statements from the seller).

I've purchased plants online for years. This is my last time buying from Perfectplant.

I live in SC, not at all far from Perfect Plant, maybe an hour away or so.
I ordered several plants on their Ebay site and asked, via email, if I could pick up my plants at their location. I figured I would have an opportunity to shop further and to enjoy a ride with my family at the same time. I'd rather to have spent the money at the store instead of on HIGH SHIPPING.
AS THE SHIPPING FEE IS OUTRAGEOUS, I also thought I would buy more plants once there on site instead of paying, now get this, 54.00 to ship $18 worth of plants. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I did NOT RECEIVE ANY RESPONSE from Perfect Plant. I was INCENSED! It is my opinion that
Perfect Plant is LOUSY at customer service and like others who have posted here, I will NOT purchase from them again. NOT EVER!

After reviewing the response Perfect Plant posted here and after placing and receiving additional plants from Perfect Plant, I realize they are trying to do better.
For those reasons, I have decided to change my rating to neutral.

On April 8th, 2008, MistyPetals added the following:

Stil neutral after ordering a plant on their Ebay site on March 19 and FINALLY receiving it on April, 8. That's almost month to ship 1 plant from SC to SC.
By the way, I believe the only reason they FINALLY responded to me is because I sent an e-mail through thei DG e-mail on their page. THAT GOT THEIR ATTENTION.
Oh, they never answered the emails I sent through Ebay.
If not for this forum, DAVES GARDEN, I believe I would never have seen my plant nor the refund I requested.
These people are shady characters who only respond when the heat is on from DG.
Personally, I think that's a terrible way to treat the gardening public.
I'm back to being very weary of their tactics.
To assuage their guilt, they sent copper markers as a freebie. The stress and headache of ordering from Perfect Plant is simply not worth it, in my honest opinion.

On May 18th, 2008, MistyPetals changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following:

I'm changing this rating to a NEGATIVE!!! Here's why...the plant I received is not an EBB TIDE..I ordered an Ebb Tide rose and now in the height of the season where I am patiently waiting to see blooms, I see a YELLOW bloom on an Ebb Tide?!?!?!?!?!!! Come on people. Change the name of the company already. After all if truth in advertising is the LAW, then surely your name would be more fitting as
IMPERFECT PLANT.
HERE'S WHAT I THINK HAPPENED.
You guys NEVER HAD THE EBB TIDE ROSE, YOU KNEW PEOPLE WOULD CLAMOR LIKE CRAZY TO WIN THE EBB TIDE ON EBAY AND YOU LISTED ONE BUT YOU DIDNT HAVE ONE TO SELL.
YOU WANTED THE MONEY an Ebb TIde would bring and so you CHEATED AND LIED.
Your company motto must read -TO HE*L WITH TRUTH.

PerfectPlant is an Ebay company. We have no site for visitors or shoppers to see. We clearly post shipping fees on ALL auctions. Since we start all our auctions well below retail, in most cases the customer will end up paying well below retail including shipping costs. Not to mention all our products are GUARANTEED.

It is our policy to ALWAYS answer every email we receive. More often than not when we get complaints about our response, the customer has a spam blocker preventing their mail to reach them.

We always try to work with our customers with any issues or problems they have with their orders., however, picking up orders is just not an option. We have thousands of customers who are quite pleased with the service and products we provide. Our feedback score is currently 99.4%
with over 8000 customers. We have over 37,000 POSITIVE FEEDBACKS!"

Well, duped again by Park's/Wayside Gardens! I didn't know this was part of Park's until I went to pay for my eBay purchases and by then it was too late. Had I known, I wouldn't even have considered buying anything from them.

I ordered a red mandevilla that was in a 4" pot. I also ordered 2 clematis, one was bareroot and the other was in a 3" pot. I pretty much knew what to expect when the box arrived since I've bought from Wayside before. This was even worse. The mandevilla was so tiny I could barely find it. It's now DEAD in the pot. The bareroot clematis was so old that it was crispy and crumbled.....DEAD. The other clematis was a sprig and yellow....DEAD. What really got me was two weeks later I was at Lowe's and they had the mandevilla in a gallon pot for $5.47. I also bought a Jackmanni clematis from Lowe's for $9.49 in a 2 gallon pot, both of which were far less than I was sent and they are thriving.

I did not write Perfect Plant because they only give merchandise credit and you pay the postage to have the items replaced. The shipping is more than what I paid for the plants from Lowe's. I did write that Jay Johnson person that has been responding to every negative comment on Park's and Wayside. He basically blew me off and said he hoped I would reconsider being a "valued customer" after all these years. No offer of a refund was extended and he did not address the fact the plants were junk.

I was also going to leave negative feedback on eBay, but Perfect Plant leaves retaliatory feedback even if you leave them a neutral and I did not want my 100% positive feedback to be tarnished. People leave them positive feedback just because they received the merchandise, dead or not or I assume they've never bought a healthy plant that lives. PayPal was of no help saying the plants were sent. I disputed the charges with American Express and sent them pictures of the plants. I got my account credited and I don't know if Park's/Wayside/Perfect Plant or PayPal ate it, and I don't care.

At least you know that if you order plants from places like Direct Gardening or Burgess that you're going to receive dead plants, but for Park's/Wayside/Perfect Plant which was once a top of the line reputable nursery to send total junk at the prices they charge, they will go out of business soon.

On May 22nd, 2007, chunx added the following:

Thanks, Perfect Plant for calling me liar in your response. I wrote Jay Johnson directly about the poor quality of the plants and the way Park's has gone from a great company to a company that is failing miserably. He responded to my email and not through this site.

Next you say you're not part of Park's or Wayside. That's really odd since my payment through PayPal said Park Seed Company. I also find it very strange that your eBay store has a word for word description of your company that is EXACTLY the same as Park's including when founded and the guarantee. And yes, I did contact Perfect Plant and I was told that I would have to pay the outrageous shipping to get replacements. Why would I want more defective plants from Wayside/Park's and pay so much for shipping? Had I left you negative feedback, you would have done the same to me. Your company even leaves negative feedback to people that have given you a neutral. That stinks just like your tiny and usually deader than a doornail plants.

At least this site gives people their real views on your junk from real gardners, people that have grown plants for years. I don't expect you to understand that and see that Wayside now has a negative rating (and well deserved) whereas it was a reputable supplier two years ago. Something is wrong there with the operation. Park's is also headed in the same direction per their ratings. At least you can't dispute that. As for your statement that you're not part of Park's/Wayside, that's just an out and out lie. My plants were shipped from their hometown and the payment went to Park's.

We were sorry to learn that your plants were not acceptable. While we do try to send healthy plants, if there are any problems we DO replace plants and we will Refund the full amount including shipping under certain circumstances. We never give merchandise credits. Customers need to contact us if there is a problem before leaving negative feedback. We will resolve all issues.. I contacted Jay Johnson at Park Seed. He has not responded to CHUNX about this issue. PerfectPlant is not part of Park Seed or Wayside Gardens. We are an independent company who sells plants from several sources. Chunx may contact PerfectPlant directly if he or she wishes.
