Thought if you ordered direct from a Nirsery you would get Good, Quality Items. Paradise Gardens is in Tennessee, I am In Georgia. IF I wanted frozen crap from Indianna, I could have ordered it from that far North. My god, was paradise garden so lazy they farmed out to farmer clement in Indianna and he sent Crap. No More orders for this Lazy bunch.

I received my order in a timely manner, the plants were in excellent condition and are doing well after planting. My complaint is that they left out three items in my order. I have e-mailed them three times and they have not responded. I would have expected more from this company. I have placed several orders with the other company (Oakes Daylillies) and have never been disappointed. I expected this company to have the same integrity.

Placed a large (for me) order of tree peonies. More than half of them did not even survive their first growing season. Have contacted the company a total of eight times. They were only available to talk once and promised replacements. They never arrived. Numerous voicemails and e-mails have gone unanswered. I've given up on them out of frustration. I have never been dealt with in such an uncaring fashion in all my years of mail order gardening. I will never deal with them again. By the way they are owned by Oakes Daylilies.

I ordered and received a red columbine from Paradise Garden. When I looked inside the box I was initially pleased with the plant, but after fully unpacking the plant I noticed that most of the foliage was white and crumbly even though there was a beautiful blossom on the plant. It looks as though there may have been some frost damage prior to shipment. All that's left now is a small cluster of new growth in the center. Even though what's left is small, I am confident the plant will grow and bloom -- and if it does so this season I'll change my rating to "positive." I'm excited about the bonus daylily that was included with my order! I've ordered lots of mail order plants over the years, and I must say theirs is the best packaging I've ever seen!

Alas, my red columbine has quickly produced a bud. So I am changing my rating to positive. The bonus daylily is also doing well!

I'm very disappointed with Paradise Gardens and will certainly never order bulbs from them again. When I received my order the box was all banged up (no fault of Paradise) but when I opened the box I was very disappointed to find poor quality bulbs: soft begonias, rotten cannas, broken clump of dahlias. I contacted them via email (included photos) and got no response. (I paid over $12 in shipping!) So I called them 2 days later. They offered to replace the rotten cannas. As it turned out they replaced the rotten cannas, the begonias and the dahlia clump. Begonias and dahlias were OK this time, but the replacement Chinese Coral Canna was just as rotten as the first one. What really concerned me initially is that the bulbs were shipped from Virginia Beach, VA. (Paradise is in Tennessee.) I was suspicious that these bulbs might be from Van Bourgondien. Lo and behold, there was a VB flyer in the bottom of the box! All the more reason not to order bulbs from Paradise, and this is the reason I am giving them a negative rating. I am hoping Paradise will take heed and exhibit better discretion by selecting a more reputable supplier for their bulb business. I must say that I never have problems with Oakes Daylilies -- a sister company.

In May 2005 I ordered several daylilies, a tree peony and a herbaceous peony from Paradise Gardens. The lilies arrived in good condition. The peonies were not to be shipped until "fall". One of the lilies named Judith, bloomed the same season I purchased it. The description and photo described Judith as being a beautiful pink color. However, the bloom was a dirty pumpkin color, far from the lily pictured. I called and emailed Paradise, but received no response. The two peonies were shipped in November. November in Indiana is not "fall", it is winter. Further, the tree peony, Yachiyotsubaki, bloomed this spring. It was supposed to be a soft pink color, but it is instead a bright wine-red color. I didn't bother to try to contact Paradise about the peony. I will never order from them again.

First time ordering with Paradise Garden. I ordered three plants from Paradise Garden. The hosta came and was full of leaves with only one bad leaf. I cut that leaf off and have overlooked that as I thought I got what I paid for plus the bonus hosta was a nice touch.

I also ordered two toad lilys expecting to receive two year old plants as advertised. The plants I received are a little over 1 inch tall. They look like seedlings grown recently from a bulb this year and are ridiculously small for $15.00 a piece. Very shallow root systems. Very upset. I photographed the containers and sent an email to the company later that day. I also called the company the next day. The representative while polite, insisted the plants were two years old and I was wrong. Unless I have miracle soil, my two year old toad lilys look nothing like these and something is wrong. The representative told me I could ship them back, but by the time I package them up, pay to return them, and eat the original shipping cost, it does not make economical sense to return them. So I am stuck with $30.00 worth of toad lilys that look like $2.00 bulb sprouts. I didn't give them a negative because at least these plants arrived alive, but I will not do business with them again.

My landscaper came to do my lawn and viewed the tricyrtis and he agreed these were not 2 year old plants. From reading the comments posted here, it appears I am not the only one that has received these small plants as another 2006 reviewer mentioned a problem with the size of the tricyrtis. Why she was treated great and rewarded with replacement and additional free plants and I was told I was wrong I don't know BUT WILL NEVER DO BUSINEES WITH THEM AGAIN.

After having trouble with a couple of other internet companies, I came across Paradise Garden and had read a lot of positive feedback about them. I ordered four plants from them, three Heuchera "Raspberry Ice" and one dwarf fountain grass. A few days later, I had not received any notification that the order had been shipped and I checked with the address the company provided and it did not indicate that the order had been shipped. Less than a week after placing my order, I received an e-mail from the company that they were having a sale and that both of the plants that I ordered were now on sale for $4.00 off on each plant, which would have saved me $16.00. I immediately e-mailed the company and asked them if they would give me the sale price for my order. I received an automatic response that my e-mail would be responded to within 24 hours. About 24 hours later, I did receive a response telling me that, no, they would not give me the sale price for the plants. I thought that was very poor customer service and I again checked to see if my order had been shipped. It did not indicate that it had, so I immediately tried to call their customer service line and got the recording (like so many others) that their mailbox was full and was not accepting messages. Knowing this would not get me anywhere, I e-mailed customer service back and asked them to cancel my order. I did not get any response, but one day later my order was sitting at my front door when I got home from work and my credit card had, of course, been charged for the full amount, not the sale price. The plants seem to be of good quality; however, I will not purchase plants from that company again due to their lack of good customer service.

I ordered 2 different types of Alium bulbs, a lavender, a wiegelia, a foxglove and a hypericum 'gemo' at the end of August with the understanding that the plants would ship in September. I received everything but the bulbs in a timely fashion. While the other three plants were in good condition, the foxglove was not. Half of the plant was wilted and while I attempted to save the remaining half it died shortly later. Considering that the company has a "100% guarantee" I expected to receive a response from the company about this poor plant and also an estimate as to when the bulbs might ship. After three e-mails, I have received no response.

I will try calling the company next but from the reviews I have read I do not expect much. I will update my comments if my experience changes.

I purchased four hostas in July. They arrived in a timely manner, but two of the hostas looked like they were diseased. I was very disappointed because I paid more than if I had gone to a local nursery or to Home Depot for these hostas. I took pictures of the plants and sent the pictures with my comments to customer service. They assured me that the plants were not diseased and it would be fine to plant in my garden. I snip the bad portion of the hostas and planted them in my garden. Now, they still look the same and the discoloration on the leaves has spreaded throughout the plant. Personally, I will not buy plants from a catalog again and will continue to buy locally where I take them back and there is a guarantee on plants or I can view them at the store. I feel that I lost money in this purchase but it was a learning experience.

I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE TO DO BUSINESS WITH PARADISE GARDEN!!!!

This company has had the most ATROCIOUS customer service out of
ANY company (gardening or otherwise!) I have EVER done business with. I have been attempting to get a hold of them since the middle of MAY! I have sent multiple emails, at least 5 that I have saved, as well as countless phone calls. THEIR VOICEMAIL HAS BEEN FULL EVERY TIME I HAVE CALLED, AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ONE RESPONSE TO ANY SENT EMAIL! Even though I have included my phone number and email with every email, the folks at paradise garden have chosen to NOT respond.

My complaint is simple. I was sent substituted gladilous bulbs that are not the same color scheme, as well as much tinier bulbs than I was expecting. That was from one company that paradise garden sent my order to. (MY ONE ORDER WAS SENT TO 3 DIFFERENT COMPANIES TO FILL, JUST AS A WORD OF CAUTION TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO OR WHAT YOU WILL BE GETTING!) I requested my money back, and offered to mail back the diminutive bulbs.

From the second company, I received the double clematis collection, 3 clematis. One of the clematis looked like it had a fungal infection already, and I was questioning if a second clematis had an infection also. I began earnestly trying to reach paradise garden about this complaint. Now, 60 days later, I have 3 withering, infected clematis for the bargain price of $60. And STILL NO CONTACT FROM PARADISE GARDEN!

They say they offer a 100% guarantee, however they do not allow any window of opportunity to voice your concerns with your order to them. I truly have never had such a miserable experience as a customer of ANY company. My next step is to contact my bank and file a direct complaint against paradise garden, as well as to have the bank file a dispute against paradise garden and withdraw my money from their account. I hate that it has to come to this, but they refuse to make good on their products.

BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!

I ordered a Dwarf Canna Milk Festival and paid $19.85. After 4 weeks in the ground under optimum soil & weather conditions, there was no growth. I finally dug it up, no sign of life. As I've been planting Canna bulbs for 30 years, I could only conclude the bulb sent to me was a dead puppy.

I emailed the company twice and I have called them twice. Absolutely no response. I find this laughable since their confirmation email proclaimed "100% satisfaction guarantee" and "quick response to your problems and questions." I will never use this company again and I suggest everyone should think twice before they do business with Paradise Garden.

That company has a 52% negative rating! I contacted Paradise Gardens and asked that the entire order be cancelled and that my card be credited in full.

I feel totally deceived. If I had wanted to order from Van Bourgondien I'd have done that directly! I didn't - I had a bad experience with them some years ago.

I ordered daffodil bulbs on August 31, 2004. I received my order on 10/17/2004. The bulbs were very nice, BUT I was missing two (2) packages of mixed double daffodils. I immediately e-mailed Paradise Gardens and waited a couple of weeks for a reply. I then emailed them again.

Thinking that the missing items were just a shipping error, I then placed another order. This order consisted of daffodil bulbs and tulip bulbs. This time the order was shipped complete and again the bulbs in good condition. I continued to e-mail about the missing items from order #1. I got no response. So, I started to call. I left numerous voice messages including the problem and my cell phone number, so as to not miss their call.

"NO RESPONSE" Finally on 01/12/2005...4 1/2 months after placing the order I got them. There was no apology or reason for
getting the bulbs so late. And some of the bulbs were dried out. On the front of the box was a telephone number.

I called, and it was for Dutch Gardens. They said they did not ship the bulbs to me and they have no affiliation with Paradise Gardens.

So, DON'T ORDER FROM PARADISE GARDENS! YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

In addition to sending some of what I ordered they took it upon themselves to send red and yellow colored peonies in place of what they lacked. I called several times and e-mailed to correct this or to get a refund and they ignored all attempts. I consider this dishonest and not to respond just rude. The plants were in fine shape, with multiple fans, and I was pleased -- until I checked the Oakes website and discovered their prices are about HALF of that charged by Paradise. Yikes!!! (I was informed by Oakes that they don't fill a Paradise order any differently than one of their own -- same # of fans, etc.) So -- caveat emptor. Do your research before you order!
