I received my order in a timely manner, the plants were in excellent condition and are doing well after planting. My complaint is that they left out three items in my order. I have e-mailed them three times and they have not responded. I would have expected more from this company. I have placed several orders with the other company (Oakes Daylillies) and have never been disappointed. I expected this company to have the same integrity.

Placed a large (for me) order of tree peonies. More than half of them did not even survive their first growing season. Have contacted the company a total of eight times. They were only available to talk once and promised replacements. They never arrived. Numerous voicemails and e-mails have gone unanswered. I've given up on them out of frustration. I have never been dealt with in such an uncaring fashion in all my years of mail order gardening. I will never deal with them again. By the way they are owned by Oakes Daylilies.

We made an attempt to contact this customer regarding this matter using the D-mail system. We have not heard anything back from the customer. We are sorry that this customer had this experience and would love to talk to discuss making things right.
We also reviewed old emails and did customer searches based on tree peonies and have yet to be able to determine that actual name and contact info for the customer. "

I ordered some daylilies as well as campanula 'white clips' from Paradise Garden this past September. They arrived well packaged and good sized. (They even sent a bonus daylily!) One of the daylilies (leprechauns wealth) even bloomed by October!! The items seemed to be on the pricier side (though it's worth it for the larger plants provided). My only real 'complaint' about my experience w/ Paradise Garden would be their shipping rates... different rates apply to different items ordered and end up adding up! But overall, I would definitely order from them again.

I ordered a white peony bush from them and it cost about same as a dud one I had bought from a well known catalog/online plant seller. Paradise Garden's root is 3-4 times larger + they included a nice day lily start at no extra.

Over the past two years, I have ordered a variety of hostas and daylilly's from Paradise Garden and I could not be more pleased! The plants have always been quite large with very healthy root systems and they ship promptly and package everything well! Most daylillys blooomed the very first year (profusely!) and everything 'wintered' well - which is always a plus here in Iowa. They also include "bonus plants" and that's a pleasant surprise each time. It's a great company to deal with!

I ordered six lily bulbs from Paradise Garden this spring but only received three. They gave me "seed points" to use toward another purchase to make up the difference. I would have preferred a refund, but didn't ask for one. Anyway, the three lilies are coming up and looking great. The three plants have an average of nine buds each so far, which is really impressive for a first year bulb. In fact, I've never had a first year lily with that many buds in the initial clump (even more should develop as the inflorecense develops). My only regret is that I didn't get all six of these little dynamos! My only suggestion is that Paradise Garden reduce its shipping charges by at least a couple of dollars. If shipping was less, I would purchase more.

This is the first year I have mail ordered plants, so I picked out a handful of companies and placed smaller orders with each. The order from Paradise Garden arrived in 2 parts. Their plants were the biggest and look the healthiest of all that I have received. One of the bulbs that I ordered was out of stock, so they allowed me to substitute another plant AND, on their own, credited my account with extra "SeedPoints" to spend on that plant. They also included a free day lily with the order.

I ordered and received a red columbine from Paradise Garden. When I looked inside the box I was initially pleased with the plant, but after fully unpacking the plant I noticed that most of the foliage was white and crumbly even though there was a beautiful blossom on the plant. It looks as though there may have been some frost damage prior to shipment. All that's left now is a small cluster of new growth in the center. Even though what's left is small, I am confident the plant will grow and bloom -- and if it does so this season I'll change my rating to "positive." I'm excited about the bonus daylily that was included with my order! I've ordered lots of mail order plants over the years, and I must say theirs is the best packaging I've ever seen!

Alas, my red columbine has quickly produced a bud. So I am changing my rating to positive. The bonus daylily is also doing well!
On April 30th, 2008, figaro52 changed the rating from positive to negative and added the following:

I'm very disappointed with Paradise Gardens and will certainly never order bulbs from them again. When I received my order the box was all banged up (no fault of Paradise) but when I opened the box I was very disappointed to find poor quality bulbs: soft begonias, rotten cannas, broken clump of dahlias. I contacted them via email (included photos) and got no response. (I paid over $12 in shipping!) So I called them 2 days later. They offered to replace the rotten cannas. As it turned out they replaced the rotten cannas, the begonias and the dahlia clump. Begonias and dahlias were OK this time, but the replacement Chinese Coral Canna was just as rotten as the first one. What really concerned me initially is that the bulbs were shipped from Virginia Beach, VA. (Paradise is in Tennessee.) I was suspicious that these bulbs might be from Van Bourgondien. Lo and behold, there was a VB flyer in the bottom of the box! All the more reason not to order bulbs from Paradise, and this is the reason I am giving them a negative rating. I am hoping Paradise will take heed and exhibit better discretion by selecting a more reputable supplier for their bulb business. I must say that I never have problems with Oakes Daylilies -- a sister company.

In the spring of this year I ordered some hard-to-find plants in local nurseries from Paradise Garden. The order was shipped early per my request and arrived in excellent condition. I was so impressed with their service and healthy plants that I let my closest friends know that I'd love plants on my wish list at Paradise Garden for my birthday. I am pleased to say that they all sent plants from Paradise Garden, and all were healthy and came with a bonus daylily- or should I say daylilies because each one far surpassed any daylily plant I've ever received from other nurseries. I planted them almost right away (love to dig in the garden) and now after being in the ground for only 3 weeks - one of the daylilies is getting ready to bloom. Now if I can hide this bloom from the deer . . . . . . .
Now when the other lilies arrive (hope is this week) I'll be done.

I ordered Hosta Olive Bailey Landon in Mid July '06' and it arrived in just a few days-- packaging for shipment couldn't have been any better-nice moist root system with leaves removed. After soaking to re-hydrate and planting, it seemed strange that no leaves appeared after about 4 weeks so I sent an e-mail asking if this was normal but stated to Patti in Customer Service that I'd like to give Olive another week or so to see if any leaves would sprout. After that time passed Patti sent me a replacement and after planting it is doing fine. The original Olive cut off leaf stalks have now turned yellow and fallen off but I wonder if it isn't gone into dormancy...I will find that out come Spring of '07'. My experience in dealing with the CS department at Paradise Gardens was wonderful. I would encourage anyone to order from them. Vi from Fitchburg, MA

I was pleased with the 2 hostas I ordered; but one was very small. An extra (Very nice) plant was included. The two I ordered were planted 3 months and still no leaves. They weren't dead....just no new growth. The freebie grew very well. I contacted Patti just to let her know I was somewhat disappointed at having no new growth on the hostas all summer. Without hesitation, I was immediately sent two more (beautiful hostas) which I promptly planted and which look lovely in my garden. I am super impressed with the fast response and the generosity of this garden site. I will surely recommend them. Donna Thomas.

I ordered daylilies and hostas as well as a few other smaller things. All things came well packed. The daylilies came separate (from Oakes daylilies in their packing)--I was shocked to find 3-4 fans of each daylily, not just one little one. AND they sent me an extra I didn't expect. All are doing wonderfully and 3 or the new daylilies have already bloomed. The hostas were the same--not just one little plant, but two or three. Drinking gourd was already large, and it bloomed about a month after planting. I also received a free hosta (wide brim). All are growing nicely. I am very pleased with them and surely will do business again. Karen Shaver

A totally wonderful first time purchasing experience. Order was placed on the web and received a confirmation within 24-hours of being place. Then received a notice several weeks later when the order was shipping and a further confirmation of that order. Package arrived in perfect condition, well packed within the stated delivery window. My order was complete and actually contained several extra iris that I didn't order. When I responded to Paradise via e-mail to explain that they had sent me extra iris, they immediately responded to thank me for my honesty and told me to accept the extras as a gift from them. This is the way business should be done!!! First time purchase from them, but because of how they treated me, it certainly won't be the last!!

In May 2005 I ordered several daylilies, a tree peony and a herbaceous peony from Paradise Gardens. The lilies arrived in good condition. The peonies were not to be shipped until "fall". One of the lilies named Judith, bloomed the same season I purchased it. The description and photo described Judith as being a beautiful pink color. However, the bloom was a dirty pumpkin color, far from the lily pictured. I called and emailed Paradise, but received no response. The two peonies were shipped in November. November in Indiana is not "fall", it is winter. Further, the tree peony, Yachiyotsubaki, bloomed this spring. It was supposed to be a soft pink color, but it is instead a bright wine-red color. I didn't bother to try to contact Paradise about the peony. I will never order from them again.

I bought from the company for the first time this spring... I ordered 17 different daylillies and they arrived quickly and in beautiful shape...I also received 3 bonus daylillies... 18 of the 20 plants are thriving... One of the plants died because my landscaper sprayed it with weed killer - no plant can survice that... There is still hope that the other one will survive - I think it caught some of the spray the first plant got doused with....
Two of the early bloomer already have buds and the rest are green, about 10 inches tall and healthy...
The company notified me when the plants shipped and they arrived all together and on time...
I recently ordered plants from 'another' company and it took forever to get the plants and only 11 of the 20 I ordered arrived... When I inquired by email it took 5 days for a response and they indicated that the rest of the plants will arrive soon (whatever that means)...
I am already thinking about what to order for next years bulbs...
