I bought two Brugmansia plants from this company. They arrived with the USPS tape around the box and smashed saying "Arrived Damaged" When I contacted the company I was told this: Sender: Kathy Kort Date: 2 days ago 8:36pm EDT
Message: Hi there,
I'm sorry, I have not been around my computer today. I think the postal service plays football with packages.
If you take the box and invoice to the post office you can file a claim and get your money back .. the package is insured for $50.
Kathy

I told her that she is the one that should file the claim since she is the sender and she could file the claim online. She said this: Sender: Kathy Kort Date: 2 days ago 9:42pm EDT
Message: I don't have the following ...

Evidence of Insurance Purchased

Evidence of insurance includes:

The original mailing receipt issued at the time of mailing
The outer packaging showing the names and addresses of the sender and the addressee and the proper label showing that the article was sent insured
A printed electronic online label record or a computer printout from the application used to print the label and purchase the insurance

You will need to bring the whole box to the post office ... http://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm.

I replied back to her stating she should file the claim and she had the insurance records because the 50.00 worth of insurance comes free with priority mail and tracking.

I have not heard back from her for 2 days now since June 14th the day I received the package. I have filed a claim with Esty where she is selling and with PayPal. I would not trust this company to buy anything. It is obvious she don't care about her customers satisfaction nor the way she packed the box and marked it. They were rolled up in newspaper with the roots in a wet paper towel and in plastic bags. No FRAGILE markings or Live plants on the box. I have mailed ordered hundreds and hundreds of plants since I collect succulents and cactus and they are not available in my area. I have never dealt will a seller that does not do anything and acts like I am the one that should take the responsibility for her not packing and marking the boxes properly. Do not waste your time and money being aggravated with this person. Buy from a more reliable person! I will always from now on read all the negative reviews and never buy from someone that has over a couple if any.

I ordered two Princess plants which arrived promptly. They were spindly with very little root which was wrapped in plastic wrap. The plants were wrapped in newspaper, no containers. I planted them anyway. As expected one plant did not show any signs of survival. Miraculously the other is still alive. When I contacted Kathy her reply was, "I only guarantee that they arrive alive. What happens after that is up to you." In my view a plant that won't grow is dead no matter what color it is on arrival. I won't be ordering from this supplier again.

When someone "quotes" me, they should at least "quote" what I said. I did not say "what happens after that is up to you" ... here is copy and paste from my email "I refund or replace any plants which may arrive doa (unless it's USPS or FedEx's fault). I have no control over plants after that.
Please review my "information" page on my website "http://www.katzkuntrykuttins.com/information.htm".
I haven't received any complaints about any of my plants that have been purchased and all of the ones I have here are all growing fine. If there was something wrong with a particular variety, it would be more than one of them and I would go above and beyond to send refunds."
You have had them for a month ... I do not have control over how someone takes care of them ...I received the plugs in January and it's now July, yes they had good root balls ... I have been shipping the same way for almost 10 years, everyone seems to like how I package them.
You won't be ordering from me again ... that's your prerogative.
I grow plants because I love them and I would never send out crappy plants."

I ordered a fox tail fern as a gift. When the fern arrived, it was in very poor shape - many of the fronds had fallen off in the box and most were yellow. It had clearly been shipped in very poor condition and when I contacted the company this was their response:
Hi there,
I guarantee my plants not to be doa. They leave here healthy with a large rootball. Of course plants are going to be stressed a bit being stuck in a dark box for a week. The only perfect mailorder plant is a silk one. Some yellow is not a big deal, just pluck them off ... the plant is fine, new fronds will sprout back out.
Plants should immediately be placed in a container of water to rehydrate in a shady spot when opened.
Kathy

I will not be purchasing from Kathy again

I'm sorry, but it's not possible for that fern to have mostly yellow fronds in a few days shipping ... they are extremely hardy and I could throw one out in the yard and it would be a few weeks before it turned yellow. Those plants don't even need to have the rootball kept moist in shipping, but I wrap them anyway.
I'm sorry you are so unhappy."

I'm not sure how you make your cuttings, but me and everyone else I know take a section from the original brug, stick it in dirt to root...from an eye on the section grows a new shoot. Voila! A new plant!
That's what you got ... No other cutting was made on it. We do not take cuttings from ANY plant but our older "mother" plants.
Of course it's a shoot from the base, the base itself doesn't shoot out stems from the middle! If you have some like that, please, please send me a photo as I would like to see that. I'm not too old to learn new things."

Short story: I placed my order for five 2-gallon plants ($75 + $15 shipping). In the mail I only received two 1-gallon (or smaller) plants. I was obviously disappointed.

I emailed the owner to explain the problem and got *no response*. A month later, I have emailed a second time to see if I can get a response - at this point I just want my money back.

I will provide further detail in a week and update this rating to positive or negative based on whether I get a response this time.

On August 3rd, 2009, HD_in_Dallas changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following:

This company is dishonest - don't be taken in by them!

I have now tried three times to get a response on the order I placed earlier this year, and I have not even received the courtesy of a reply. Do not trust Katz Kuntry Kuttins. They will take your money, ship you less than what you ordered, then ignore your requests for a shipment of the rest of your order or your money back.

After waiting three weeks to receive a coral honeysuckle vine, it arrived dead due to poor packing. I was told the wait would be two to three weeks. I was outside doing garden work when the mailman delivered the package. I opened it immediately. I soaked the dried out root ball hoping for a miracle I guess. The owner sounds too busy to run a professional operation.

Still waiting for postage refund, it is not my fault the vine was wrapped in a 5 & 10 cheap plastic baggie. If there was a plant abuse hotline, I would report her:)

I gave you a refund minus shipping costs on 5-08-09. And as for those "5 & 10 cheap plastic baggies", I go out of my way to get those specific ones because they wrap perfectly around the rootballs. You are the first person ever to report that they leaked. You told me in your email that the newspaper which wrapped the rootball was still wet.

Poor service. No response to 2 e-mails concerning my order.

I ordered Aptenia Cordifolia 4" pot size for 3 pots. It cost $10 + $8 for shipping that actual postage was only $4.95.

What I received were starter size plants. I might say that these plants was as same the amount of one 4" pot size based on my previous purchased from other nursery.

I am unstisfied with the quality and quantity plants and also her "silent" customer service.

You were aware of the plant price and the shipping price before you placed your order.

In May 2007, I ordered 5 Yellow Jacobina plants from this vendor. The price with shipping was $28.00 for the five plants. They are located in Pineville, Louisiana, and I'm in Baton Rouge, so I did not need to opt for expedited shipping... all carriers only take a day for in-state shipping. My plants arrived with the soil still moist, and they did not look stressed from the trip. They did, however, have a fungus on all five plants. I doubt this could have happened during shipment as they were only in the box for a day! I emailed the vendor immediately, but I never received a reply. In the meantime, I planted the jacobina in a large pot (rather than risking putting them in the garden with my other plants), treated the plants with Funginex in hopes that they would pull through, and placed them far away from everything else. The plants did not make it, I never received a response from the vendor, and I will not order from them again. Overall, a very, very disappointing experience. Ev

Ordered Brugmansia's from this vendor.

Very disappointed. Plants arrived bare root, not in 1 Gal. pots as indicated on web site.

Even more disappointing, some of the plants arrived diseased and will need to be destroyed as to not spread the disease to other Brugmansias in collection.

Contacted Kathy via email explaining the situation, received a very sarcastic and unprofessional response questioning my ability to indeed recognize and identify the disease.

In trying to rectify the situation amicably, I have sent 3 emails since. Kathy has chosen to ignore any further communications.

Very disappointed in how this vendor has chosen to handle the situation.

UPDATE :
Over a month later and still no reply from Kathy of Katz Kuntry Kuttins.

Spent aprox. $130.00 with Katz Kuntry Kuttins, and for that I have received diseased plants and absolutely no accountability or customer service.

Using this purchase experience as an example. Kathy appears to only care about getting the 1st sale and has no intention of follow up customer service, nor any conscience with regard to sending diseased plant material.

All I can say is WOW.

I bought aplant from this person/seller off ebay. Was discribed in the auction as a plant growing in a gallon pot and I received a cutting instad of a rooted plant. I emailed her and told her and was shocked that I had received this instead of a plant. Never replied to me, although she stated I was rude and sarcastic. I may have been rude after the second or third email of her not responding, but clearly I had a right to a refund or a rooted plant. I gave her opportunity to do something even appologize and she did nothing. She may have good reputation, but I did not have a good transaction with her and will not deal with her again. Regardless of what she comes back here and says.

I filed a dispute with paypal but was told by her to return the cutting and she'd refund, After I had already paid shipping to me once she asks for shipping back to her fo r her to refund a 4.00 plant, Didn't make sense to go further I could tell she wasn't going to do right by me. Money isn't the object here as much as principle, I don't leave bad feedback lightly, but this person deserves everything wrote down here today.
