Comments regarding Almost Eden Plants

What can I say about Almost Eden other than EXCELLENT. I ordered 2 White Turk’s Cap and 1 Pink Turk’s cap and was really impressed by the size of the plant that I received. I had to go back and order some more plants and this time I ordered 2 Confederate Rose ‘tricolor” and too was impressed by the size of the plant. The packaging was wonderful and well packed. I received my plants in great shape and within 3 days of my ordering. Great customer satisfaction is hard to get, but Almost Eden has sure got mines. I am greatly satisfied and will definitely return in the spring for some more plants. The pricing is just the right amount for the wonderful plants that you receive. Thanks a bunch Almost Eden.

I ordered three Yuletide Camelias on a Thursday and had them in my hands the following Wednesday. Not many companies offered this particular plant. The shipping was VERY reasonable and the plants were packaged in a way that more than adequately protects against damage in shipping. I paid by check and received an e-mail from John when he received my payment and I received another e-mail when my order shipped. He was also kind enough to answer some general questions I had about planting. I am very impressed!

When I emailed Almost Eden to ask questions about the plants I was interested in, I got a quick, understandable reply, as well as some insight into their company.

I ordered my plants for shipment on Tuesday, Oct. 26, and received them today, October 28 - the plants were exactly as advertised, in great shape, and had been packed to withstand the roughest handling. Also, their shipping charges are extremely reasonable. I'll definitely be ordering from them again.

I just unpacked 15 plants from Almost Eden, and every one is thriving. The packaging is the best I've seen from the many companies I have ordered from during my gardening life. Each plant had been watered well and topped with wet newspaper. Then the pot was taped in plastic and the plant, along with a partner at the other end, was securely fastened to corrugated cardboard that was then rolled and fastened into a tube. All this with very reasonable shipping charges.

As our weather in the Phoenix area is still very warm, John e-mailed me to make sure the standard delivery plan would work. The plants were shipped Monday and arrived Thursday morning. They could easily have spent at least a couple more days in that packaging!

Great communication, excellent shipping and beautiful, healthy plants ~ I couldn't ask for anything more.

I placed an order on April 26 for a Calycanthus 'Venus' and a Tabernaemontana and received them promptly. The packaging was very excellent. They let you know when your order is received and when they ship it. Awesome customer service I would say.

My only gripe was issues with the growing medium and the roots of the Tabernaemontana. It was very root bound when I received it. Normally, I would have loosen up the roots and replace most of the old soil but I was not sure how this plant could react to disturbing its roots. So I just potted it into a plastic 1 gallon pot with potting soil as it was. I watered it everyday but I notice the leaves were drooping still. Then I noticed that the original soil around the roots (I think its oasis?) became hydrophobic after having had dried up while the new potting soil around it was moist. I resolved this by soaking the 1 gallon pot into a bucket of water and let the whole growing medium soak up water. As long as it doesn't dry up completely again, then one should have no more problems.

I have to say that this has been the best experience I have ever had ordering online! These folks are the best. My plants arrived sooner than expected and in excellant shape. They were so much bigger than I ever expected and were even blooming. I will definitely be ordering from them again. They are a top notch company.

My experience with Almost Eden was very good. The plants I received were large and well packed. I like the wide variety of plants offered and will do business with them again.

My purchase of carolina jasmine and rudbeckia arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Great vendor!

Beware! I ordered from them. They sent me a Veilchenblau Rose with black spot, a seedling of Indian Pink about a half inch high for $7.99. They charged me for an Brown Bud Allamanda and didn't send it. I e-mailed Jeff McMillin and he said he'd send it right out. It's been over a month and no Allamanda and won't answer any e-mails. Quality of plants has declined tremendously. I will not order from them again, They're a rip off.

I received a shipment from Almost Eden today and my plants were in incredible shape, still moist and fresh, carefully packed and it is in the 90s these days. They didn't have to go too far to get to me (on the other side of Louisiana) but they were so well packaged - well-watered, moist absorbant paper at the top of the soil, stabilized in the packing - that I think they would make it much farther as well. I have shopped from a few other online sources, but have not received plants as carefully wrapped or in as good shape. I recommend them highly!

I stumbled upon Almost Eden searching for "fragrant indoor plants" and boooooy I'm glad I did! Excellent communication and individualized customer service,plants arrived quickly & in great shape.I would recommend them to anyone looking for Great quality plants and friendly helpful staff!

I ordered a Tahiti Lime from them, as I have grown them before. The plant was not very expensive at all & arrived in great condition, well packed, just 2 days after dispatch & was even complete with two baby limes. I shall be buying more from them.

I ordered some tropicals to use as indoor houseplants from them, and was very pleased with the order. Great selection, and plants arrived in super condition.

In March I ordered four plants. I was concerned about mail order since Florida is so hot. I was impressed with Eden's communication, explaining when my plants would arrive. Each plant was extremely well wrapped. Although there was some leaf drop, the plants have had no problem and all are doing very well. I will definitely check with Eden for any future order whims. Eden offers a good variety of desirable plants at reasonable prices.

I ordered some hard to find plants (at least hard to find in my 7 zone). They arrived when promised, it fantastic condition (nice and healthy). I had expected smaller plants since the pot sizes were 3-4 inches and was amazed at how robust the plants were. They were packed so well that not one leaf was bruised. Highly recommend them.

Beautifully packaged plants. Great notification of ship dates. This is a mail order nursery that truly cares about its customers.

We recieved our order and all plants were in great condition. They were packed exceedingly well. No soil was lost out of the posts and no limbs were broken. All leaves were in great condition. We received emails confirming the order and our perfered shipping date. This is a super place to do business and am already planning our next order.

I ordered a Russelia equisetiformis from another nursery that was on the Top 5 Watch Dog list. The plant came out of it's pot and the "twig" had absolutely no roots. While I did receive a refund, I was out of my plant. I then placed an order with Almost Eden.
The box arrived and I was hesitant to open it. Well, when I did I was THRILLED! Inside were 3 large plants with buds on them. I was so amazed at the difference between the 2 orders. One plant was an unrooted twig the other, plants with buds.
I highly recommend ordering from Almost Eden. They communicate very well. They package well. The plants they ship are just as if you purchased them at the nursery yourself.

Late Sunday Evening, I was browsing Almost Eden, and placed an order. Somehow, my order was placed twice. Within minutes, John from Almost Eden called me to ask about the order being placed twice. He sorted it out for me in no time, and was very friendly and polite. The refund showed up on my credit card records within a couple of business days.

Before shipping my order, John called me again because he had run out of one of my items. He was very helpful in suggesting other rare shrubs to replace those he was out of. John has a very polite and easygoing manner, he was a pleasure to speak with.

The plants were expertly packed, and arrived in great shape. They are growing like weeds now. I highly recommend Almost Eden Plants, my online buying experience was very positive, even with the few snags i mentioned.

I placed an order online on Sunday evening and immediately got a response that explained they had recently done a garden show and would not be able to ship that upcoming week but if really needed please contact them and they would do their best to ship. I had to contact them the next day because I thought I had made a mistake on my order and the gentleman answering was very pleasant. When my plants arrived they were larger than I expected for the price and in perfect condition. Since it was my first time dealing with them I sent them an email letting them know I was impressed with their plants and service. Again I recieved a very nice personal response not a form email. I will defiantely check with them first before ordering and now recommend them to my clients. They are a dying breed, we need more companies like them.

I ordered a walking iris form Almost Eden last week. It showed up in beautiful condition and in a timely manner. I was actually surprised by how healthy it looked and how big it was given the extremely fair price I paid for it.
The day it arrived, I wrote John an email to tell him just how happy I was with his product. I also had a question regarding the soil they had it planted in. I was very glad to have a response to my question within a few hours. It made my order, even of one solitary plant, seem appreciated.
John really seems to know his stuff. I am very happy to have found Almost Eden and I know I will come back again and again.

Ordered several YTT plants and confederate jasmine. Fast shipment, good communication, plants arrived in a very good condition (packing was great) and healthy, quite big for 3.5'' pot. Ordered again today several duranta plants and have full confidence they will arrive in good shape and fast.

They have wonderful plants and fast delivery. I love oleanders and am still searching for some that I have only seen on plant society websites. This company has the best selection I have found and some of them have kept their fragrance.

I took these plants for granted when I was growing up in Texas and they were all over our gardens/delighted to rediscover them and amazed at how hard finding scented ones had become/sort of like the lovely but scentless roses. They are not hardy in Kansas but they make amazing and blooming house plants all winter. (Expert gardeners probably are very aware but I wasn't)

The company has other great plants and I'm looking forward to more orders in the future.

Very impressive!! I ordered just one plant because I had never used this company before, but next spring they will definitely get more of my business. I am usually underwhelmed by plants offered in a 4 inch pot, but I received a large, well grown plant of perfect proportions in remarkably sturdy packaging-far superior to most I have received over the decades.

This is truly a "top-drawer" company. Plants are healthy and as described. Packing is probably the best I have ever seen, and I have been mail-ordering plants for nearly twenty years. To top it off, their people are genuinely friendly and always concerned about your order. My highest rating!

I ordered several plants from Almost Eden and not knowing what to expect when they arrived. They were in excellent shape - they need a couple of days of TLC and they will be good as new. Excellent packaging. I will for sure be using them again.

Having never bought from Almost Eden I only placed a small order, 2 hardy varieties and 1 tropical. The communication was excellent. I received a confirmation email immediately after placing the order and another the next day with the shipping info. The plants are great. They arrived within a week, were carefully packed and bigger then I expected. I will certainly buy from this company again.

I ordered ten Double Red Knockout roses a few months ago. They advised me that the roses would be shipped early in April, so that they would arrive at the perfect time to plant for my area (Long Island).

They arrived yesterday. I suppose I was expecting bare root plants, but what a surprise! I received ten perfect little rose bushes, each in their own pot, expertly packaged in corrugated cardboard rolls. Moist newspaper was made into twists and curled around the base of each plant and then plastic bags were rubberbanded onto the pots, keeping the plant from drying out and the dirt from shifting around during transit.

There wasn't a single brown leaf on any of the plants, and there were even rose buds ready to blossom on some of them! I was so happy and excited, I went straight out and planted them.

They are GORGEOUS!

I would give Almost Eden a five star rating: Easy ordering, great customer service, affordable pricing, super on-time shipping, and lovely plant stock. I'd order from them again in a heartbeat.

I ordered Star (Confederate) Jasmine from "Almost Eden Plants". I have to say Bravo to John for his great customer service! The plants were beautiful! When I unwrapped them from the packaging (packed nicely by the way) they were very green and ready for planting. I loved the quick delivery!
I will order definitely order again!

04-07-2010 My Lady Banks roses arrived exactly when I was told they would arrive. They even have blooms on them. The plants are very healthy. The care that was taken with packaging was the best I seen with a mail order company. I certainly recommend them.

The Plants arrived in perfect conditon. I was amazed at the careful and effective packing method. Several thoughtful emails from them: cautioning me to do what I could to keep them from spending time in a hot mailbox, etc. I will buy from them again.

Ordered for the first time this fall from Almost Eden. I purchased eight plants on this first order to see how this mail order nursery would do. I can definitely add this company to my own personal top five! They hit all the right marks. Plants were very well packaged, and the plants themselves were excellent as to size and root development. Selection and price were also above average. A month in and they are all doing well. Would (and will) order from Almost Eden again.

Ordered a red banana tree in a four inch pot. The plant was larger than I had expected it to be, which was quite pleasing. The communication was excellent as was the packaging. I will definitely order from them again; in fact I've already got my shopping list going.
