Comments regarding Santa Rosa Gardens

I love Santa Rosa Gardens, I order about twice a year from them. I have always had great success with all of my plants. (Better success than with some of my local nurseries). Each month I receive a gardening tip newsletter from then as well as different sales they have going on.

I ordered my first order from Santa Rosa in June and the delivery was very fast (much faster than other sites) and the plants were in excellent condition. I have planted them all and they have all done very well so far. The prices are excellent too, and the communication regarding when the plants will be shipped is nice. Very good company and excellent customer service (which seems to be hard to find these days). I am expecting my second order soon - thanks again!

I placed a number of orders with Santa Rosa gardens this year. I could not be more pleased. Everything arrived beautifully packed and in excellent condition. One shipment had suffered in the heat, but I received replacements for damaged plants within a week.

I started gardening three years ago and bought my first perennial grasses from Santa Rosa. They arrived beautifully packaged with precise instructions on handling them and in great condition. The first year, they outperformed identical plants I had purchased from a local nursery. Every year I have added more grasses as well as some tropicals, purchasing from them nearly exclusively. I lost about 30% of my purple fountain grass this past winter and sent them an email asking if they would regrow. They unexpectedly sent me 7 new plants, because they replace any plants that do not survive their first year. I was so impressed by this, since they certainly had nothing to do with the cold winter. They always answer my emails promptly and go the extra mile in customer service.
No matter where I may live in the future, I will continue to do business with them. They are fantastic folks to deal with.

I have ordered three times from SRG and am more than pleased with the health and size of the plants, the speed of the delivery, and the easy and prompt on-line service. I will order over and over from them.

Excellent customer service!! I accidentally ordered twice the number of plants that I needed. Santa Rosa Gardens immediately modified my order and refunded me the difference. I highly recommend this vendor!

In the spring of 2009 I ordered about 80 Karley Rose grasses from SRG, along with some Blue Knight butterfly bushes and some black-eyed Susans. The grasses and butterfly bushes were purchased to fill a large planter my husband had built to help hide a container building. They did well last summer but this year the grasses have at least doubled in size and put out large, beautiful pink plumes. They are quite simply--glorious. The Karley Rose has quickly become my favorite landscaping plant. I will be ordering more from SRG. They are wonderful to deal with and answer all emails quickly. I have complete faith in them and their quality plants. I will be ordering more grasses from them in the future. Anyone reading this should have no hesitation about ordering from these folks--they are simply the best I have ever ordered from.

This was my first order with this company but definitely will not be my last! I ordered 39 plants from their sale list. I wasn't expecting very much due to low prices. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Plants were expertly boxed. Only a very tiny amount of soil escaped on their long journey from Florida to NY. My little girl and I were unwrapping just like getting gifts at Christmas! There was only one plant that looked a little worse for wear but I think it will perk up. Healthy plants with nice strong root systems. Might even have to hit that sale list again....

Hello there, I am a first year perennial grower. I normally only plant vegetables, but since my Mother's yard was in sever need of a remodeling I figured why not. I chose Santa Rosa Gardens because they had some of the best prices, a high customer review rating, and they offered all the odd and ends of grasses I can't find too easily here in our Local Nurseries.

The size of the plants was not a problem, the plants came generally from about 7"-13" tall and I will say that the 4" pots are above their smaller counterparts. I ordered two Astilbe’s in the 2" and they didn't make it. I asked if this was normal with company and they gave me some tips on how to help them revive, very good ones might I add, but the plants didn't make it. I also noticed two of grasses weren't making it either. I e-mailed them again and they shipped me out replacements for both of these plants. The replacements we're large beautiful and this time instead of just watering the Astilbe’s I placed them in a container full of water . It worked, they're doing very well now and look great in the garden.

As for the rest of my plants they are doing much better than what I would've ever hoped. Our front yard get's 8+ hours of direct sunlight, and the heat. With this environment many of our new plants tend to have a die off period before they get back on their feet and start growing. I expect this and usually it take our plants 2 weeks+ to start growing again. The grasses I received seriously began to grow back within their first week and by the 2 week most of the harm was done with. I ordered these plants back in May and looking out into my Mom's new garden their growth is quite noticeable. Many are even blooming!
It may sound a bit too good to be true, but I'm sure this is why they're ranked so high in customer service. Just be sure to be careful with their 2" inch pots since their soil is so much more dry than the 4”.

Just got my big box of 21 plants from their sale. It was like opening a X-mas gift. Plants were very good sized for the price, very well wrapped, and arrived in great shape. Two minor concerns, there were some whitefly larvae on the bottom of the lower leaves of a veronica, but I removed the lowest leaves, and I don't consider it a big deal. An Agastache rugosa "Tutti Frutti" has oddly mottled leaves (dark green/lighter green irregular patterns) which look like a virus, fairly subtle but definitely something I will watch. Maybe they should check their stock and see if other plants of this cv are showing similar symptoms. The plant is robust, though, and I will plant it out and see what it does in the hope that maybe it is just a reaction to shipping stress or some other condition that will go away when it is in the ground. The ornamental sedges and grasses are nice starts, actually the Arundo donax "Peppermint" is ready to bust out of its pot. And I don't think I could find butterfly bush starts for cheaper, they are nicely branched, one with flower buds, not huge but very well grown and ready to go. I'll definitely order from them again.

Placed my first order last month and was very pleased with the grasses and flowering plants---they are growing well and filling in nicely. I emailed them with a question and received a response very promptly. Just placed another large order since their communication and speedy service was so impressive. I chose them because of their ratings here on GW and because they are also in Florida. Thanks, will order again.

Very fast shipping! Best packing I have experienced so far! Plant size generous for the price paid. I will shop with this company again.

I received my two shipments from them today and I was thrilled! The packaging of the plants was meticulous and they were by far the healthiest I have ever received by mail. The plants in the 4" pots were very large and everything was green and supple, indicative of a quick ship and healthy selection of stock.
Santa Rosa should be the gold standard for which everyone compares their mail order experience - I received 17 plants and not one was the least bit inferior, which is more than I can say for my last experience. Well done!

My first order with Santa Rosa Gardens was in the Fall of 2009; it was a decent sized-order containing a few plants of many different varieties. Price=good. Website=fantastic. Selection=great. Received my carefully packaged little perrenials in very good order. No mistakes with my shipment. In that first order, I had gotten three McKana Giant columbines from Santa Rosa Gardens during Fall 2009. I followed instructions and planted them in the same perrenial bed with consistent soil, water content/condition, and sun exposure... (Experience of the first order encouraged me to order more from them; all subsequent ordering has gone well, too.) But, I later developed a concern re: one of the plants in my first order... So, flash-forward to Spring 2010. McKana Plant 1: Spring growth came up very well, plant was fantastic. Moving into June, continuous flowering. Plant 2: Spring growth came up well, plant seemed a bit behind Plant 1--but otherwise okay and bloomed decently. Plant 3: Spring growth was limited, flowered some, but then by June it was dead. I just sent an e-mail to them -- holy cow, what personable service! They were FANTASTIC; she seemed to care about my insight and offered to replace my columbine. Turned out they're sold out of them right now, so she asked if I'd like a substitute of my choosing. I just looked on my account and she hooked me up for *two* replacements. Know what that means? She REALLY did listen to the me describe the okay, yet moderate performance so far of Plant 2 and CARED. The extra plant was by no means necessary, but was a great example of customer service thinking outside the box. They have gone beyond my expectations with such great (and quick) service that was topped off with great communication skills. FYI: Out of approximately 18 total perrenials I've ordered, the rest have been outstanding performers that have gotten numerous compliments from neighbors. I would HIGHLY recommend Santa Rosa Gardens for both product AND service!

Just received my third (or fourth) order from SRG. I've always been very pleased with their plant quality, price & shipping. They are the first place I will look for future purchases.

The best experience I've ever had with a mail order plant company. The plants were in excellent health and packaged very carefully. They contacted me several times to inform me of delivery, etc. I will absolutely continue to order from them. It is really the first time I've ever felt completely safe in ordering plants through the mail.

I ordered from them for the first time and just had to write and say what absolutely lovely plants I received. I was shocked at the size and how healthy the plants are. I thought by the price I would recieve a little beat up or not top notch plants, so imagine my surprise when I received the best plants I have ever received from any mail order or regular nursery. Great ! I ordered to Bordelon banana plants from there online sale. Wow the price was 3.99 each cheap shipping great packing and fast. They also give you all kinds of information on how to plant and care for the plants.When I got the plants I could not beleve the size wow ! Im still amazed. I told someone on http://www.bananas.org about them that was looking for some he ordered the rest of them they had in sock. Plus they also sent me a 5.00 of coupon on my next order.

I recently placed an order during their June clearance. This was my first experience with this company. I have ordered from 3 or 4 other mail order nurseries. I can NOT believe how beautiful these plants were upon arrival. Packaged well and obviously very healthy before shipping. When I logged on here to post a comment, I was shocked to see that they are located in Florida. I had to go to my garbage and insure I had the same company. Return address says Florida. Based on the plants' condition, I seriously thought SRG was located in California. Shipping from Florida, during hot weather, and the plants look PERFECT!! They look like they shipped from Denver - 20 minutes from me. Simply amazing!! I am a picky picky consumer and find this transaction more then perfect.

I ordered ornamental grasses twice from Santa Rosa Gardens. They arrived quickly. They were packaged really nice. No soil moved from the plants pots. The soil was not dried out. The plants came in excellent condition. The grasses were really nice size and fantastic looking. I went to nurseries and did not find as nice of a plant. The condition of the grasses was better than what I seen in local stores. I planted them and they are doing very nicely. I was really surprised of the quality for the price. Very reasonable for the great product you get. I would recommend Santa Rosa to anyone. My mom has order different plants from others and none of them can compare. I will order again and not think twice.

I live a very long way from FL, but the best ordering experiences I've had on plants have been from SRG. The site is very easy to use, the plants arrive quickly, they are large & healthy, and the packing is 2nd to none. I've learned this year to not even bother ordering from any other co. except Gilbert H Wild.

I frequently use mail order plants for those I can't buy locally. I had a glitch in my order - not by Santa Rosa Gardens error but due to my own mistake. They provided excellent customer service and made things right for me. Excellent customer service and plants. All my grasses are in - green side up....will definately use them again!

This company really delivers - great customer communications, nice website, incredibly careful packing and fast shipping of some very nice perennials.
I also appreciate the planting instructions booklet that came with the order. I will be back!

I love Santa Rosa Gardens! I've ordered from them several times and have been very pleased with their service and their plants. Some of the items on my last order were on back order and weren't scheduled to be shipped until later in June. I emailed the company and made a request to substitute the back ordered items with in stock items of the same price. They responded by email immediately and shipped the replacements the next business day. A few days later the plants arrived in excellent condition. You can't do any better than that!

I am a landscape architect/designer based in Maine and have placed several orders for ornamental grasses from Santa Rosa Gardens. They are all of great sze, superb quality and packed well with a mesh netting to hold the soil in place. They are further supported and protected with brown paper bags.

My last order was for Gold Breeze Miscanthus and they were well past my expectations, especially for the four inch size- they were not much smaller than some nursery one gallon pots.

Also, the shipping is prompt and the customer service that Dina provides is excellent as she shows great patience with customers like myself, who ask a lot of questions. I will be purchasing from Santa Rosa on a regular basis.

I'm so delighted to have found these folks. I ordered some Snowflurry Verbena from them (previously difficult to find), and in the course of perusing their online catalog, found other things of interest. Their prices are very reasonable (with some good sales). The plant descriptions come with photos and good descriptions. And most importantly, the plants themselves arrived very quickly and in great shape (the verbena had pretty white blooms). I'll be ordering from them frequently for my wildlife habitat garden.

Thiis is my third time orderingfrom Santa Rosa Gardens and each time I have been so pleased with my plants! Nice healthy plants and grasses and their packaging is unsurpassed in my experience. Love the little net "stockings" they use to protect the foliage, and they overwrap with layers of paper as well. Emaills are promptly answered and that goes a long way in my book. So many companies these days are very slack about communication but not Santa Rosa. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends.

Received my order of ornamental grasses yesterday - well packaged and shipped quickly. High quality plants with the best customer service reps I have met in a long time. Dina answered my e-mail question in five (5) minutes! I placed another order today.

I am a dedicated online shopper. I live in a rural location and I prefer to shop online for my planting and gardening needs. I have used and tried numerous well-known online gardening plant and supply sites with moderate to limited success. Some I will never use again. Even if my order was replaced, it was an inconvenience. I ordered from Santa Rosa Gardens the first time about a month ago. I have never seen such care regarding the shipping of my plants. Wow! Not only were the plants as if I just took them out of my own greenhouse, they were packed with such care using a protective netting that I have never seen used before. None of those disgusting peanuts that really don't protect plants. Usually mailorder plants have a "recovery" time, or the time it takes them to look well again. Not with Santa Rosa! Perfect right out of the box!

I placed my order on the internet and it was shipped the next day. My order arrived within 3 days and the plants were in wonderful condition - healthy and green and larger than I anticipated; I will definitely do business with them again.

I ordered some plants in the fall and all were delivered except one, which was back ordered. The plants looked good, were planted out and thrived. The following spring, just as they has said, the back ordered plant arrived on schedule and it was a surpisingly large plant.

They are very professional and follow up terrifically.
