I have had excellent germination with their vegetable seeds. However, I know whenever I order their more exotic selections, I am taking a chance. For example, I ordered one packet of Chilean Guava seed and one packet of Black Chilean Guava seed. I have had perfect germination of the Black Chilean Guava and zero germination on the regular Chilean Guava. But I knew when I ordered these seeds that they might be difficult to grow, so I don't blame the seed company. I appreciate their quick shipping and interesting seed selection. Plus they usually include a free seed packet, and that is always fun. |

The website was easy to use, and I was pleased the company was able to ship to my Post Office Box. The order arrived in a matter of days, and everything was 100% correct. Trade Winds will absolutely get repeat business from me. |

Just be sure that you know that the plant you are ordering can be grown from seed, they sell seeds of plants that generally do not have good germination from seed. Otherwise i continue to enjoy success from this company. |

After less than 3 months some are almost 10" tall and growing well under a grow light until I can transplant outside in the spring. The Black Goji Berry seeds (Lycium Ruthenicum) had about 30% germination and for me I had 0% germination with the Carob (Ceratonia Siliqua) but they are notorious for being difficult to germinate. Overall I'm thrilled with Trade Winds Fruit and have since made 2 additional orders from them and have yet to be disappointed. :) |

Love the huge selection of herbs, tropicals and not-so-ordinary seeds and for only $2-3/packet! Only planted tomatoes so far and those germinated nicely. Will definitely return when I need more interesting seeds. Wish the descriptions were longer, esp regarding planting conditions. |

This year I had questions I sent to them on facebook and through e-mail still awaiting some answers. On May 30th, 2012, judyinmound changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following: Matt from customer service very nicely offered alternative replacements. Positive | wmpeebles (4 reviews) | On Feb 19, 2013, wmpeebles Spring, TX wrote: I've shopped with this company for the last four years and my most favorite aspect of this company is that they offer a large selection of unusual and interesting plant seed. Late last year I purchased onion seed from them and have found the Jaune Paille des Vertus and Flat of Italy varieties to be growing quite well. I also more recently purchased a whole bunch of seeds in one of my late night seed binge purchasing. Again, I made sure I bought seeds for unusual varieties and different kinds of peppers and tomatoes. I was also excited that they had scarlet runner beans and malabar spinach seeds. Again, if you haven't ordered from this place, you should at least check out their inventory and find what you like. Seriously browse their inventory rather than look for something. You may find something that peaks your interest (as did the dragon fruit, orange apple pear cactus, mountain papaya, maize morado, red pearl bean, etc.) |

I managed to get one of the seeds to germinate. Two years later an early warm March followed by snow in April which destroyed most of its flowers, a few survived and produced fruit. The fruit was not goumi but rather Autumn Olive Elaeagnus umbellata. Seed mix-ups happen. In October 2012, I emailed them and two days later they replied saying that I was welcome to a credit or refund for the order. On Jan 19 2013, I took them up their offer. A week later they said the seed packet that I requested was in the mail to me. These guys are a pleasure to deal with. |

Very regrettably, we did not see the customers original e-mail sent to us. We take great pride in our customer service and respond to all queries received as soon as we can. In addition, once we were aware of the issue, the customer received a refund or replacement for each of the seed packages in questions, as is our policy, without any questions asked. The refund was given though proper germination procedures were not carried out in their entirety, see below. Issue was with 4 seed types out of a total of 35 types ordered. |

I don't think many companies would go to the trouble of shipping a new packet of seeds even *after* they'd received a positive rating. I really appreciate it- shows a great level of pride in one's own company. :) On Jun 23, 2012, Trade Winds Fruit responded with: "On Jun 11, 2012 3:02 PM, Trade Winds Fruit responded with: Yes, all of our seeds are shipped in bubble envelopes or small boxes. Unfortunately, even with careful packaging, shipping services do sometimes damage or ruin shipments in transit. On May 23rd, 2012, bushy1 changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following: Corresponded with the vendor and he offered replacement seed or a refund. Where I live it's too late in the growing season to take up the offer of replacement seed, so he issued a refund. Based on the quick response and quality of the customer service, I am changing my rating to Positive. On May 23, 2012, Trade Winds Fruit responded with: "On May 22, 2012 5:46 PM, Trade Winds Fruit responded with: Buyer did not contact us so we have no way of knowing who they are or what they ordered. All our seeds, without exception are from the most recent harvest season. The assertion that seeds are old is completely false as we take great pride in offering fresh seeds that are not stored for extended periods of time. Additionally, we use our own seeds--the same as those we send to customers for own plantings and would never offer seeds that produce "weak, dwarf seedlings." Once the season is over, the seeds are donated or discarded and a new batch is offered the following season. You will never receive two/three/etc. year old seeds from us. If the buyer had difficulty with germination they should have contacted us directly. We are more than happy to work with any buyer regarding their purchase to figure out what may have gone wrong, be it with the seeds themselves, or due to some difficulty with the planting process. It would be appreciated if the buyer would contact us. On Jun 11, 2012 2:57 PM, Trade Winds Fruit added: A follow up on this comment, we take any claims of germination failure on vegetable seeds seriously so we retested each of the varieties from this customers order. Seeds were planted in standard potting mix on 5/23, in small containers atop a heating mat set at 85F. All varieties showed +90% germination by 6/6, with most sprouting within 7 days, consistent with prior germination tests. The customer did relay that the original seeds were sprouted at 68F in a wet paper towel, a method that is not recommended for these types of seed. The customer wanted a refund for the original purchase, not replacement seeds, and we did oblige the customers request with a full refund." |

I can't say anything yet about germination rates because I just planted them last night. Shipping was $ 4.00 but it could have been $ 0.00 if I had only read their policy before placing my order. The seeds plus shipping was $ 9.00 and they ship free if an order is $ 10.00 or more. Man am I a dummy or what?lol One of the nice things is that their seed packs are in even dollar amounts. They don't end in .95 or .99 cents which makes it easier to hit that $ 10.00 amount without having to buy an extra pack because you are a few cents short of the $ 10.00 need for free shipping. A+++ |

As well as the feared Fatalii and the dreaded Datil, all at VERY reasonable prices! Most other places charge 7 bucks or more for those varieties and that's only if they have them! The shipping is still free if you order $7.50 or over so that is an added plus. It is a great company and i WILL be buying even more from them this coming winter to get a jump on things! |

Ordered Sunday night, got an email Monday that my seeds had shipped and my seeds came that Saturday. I don't know the germination rates yet as I haven't planted them, but so far a great experience. They had an awesome selection especially on some of the more exotic stuff I wanted to grow like Aji Amarillo, Aji Lemon Drop, Tomatillos, etc. Plus you can't beat free shipping! Unless I have a major problem with germination rates I plan to order here again. All seeds came packaged in little plastic zip-lock baggies with planting and care instructions. The only thing I would change is to put more of the planting and care info on their website. |
