Comments regarding Pinetree Garden Seeds

I've ordered from Pinetree for 3-4 years now and I think they are the BEST! Very affordable, high quality, and great service! I've ordered seeds, plants, and other merchandise and all of it has arrived promptly and in great condition. I personally like the smaller packets of seeds (i.e. about 20 seeds for tomatoes and peppers). Not only is it cheaper, but it lets me have a greater variety in my garden without having to have a bunch of unused seeds laying around.

I've bought seeds from them and been quite happy - both with selection and delivery. No complaints.

I got my seeds in 7 days. They seem to be germinating pretty well. I also bought garlic and egyptian onions. These are growing great too!

Ordered bulbs on the fall sale. Great prices and the bulbs arrived quickly and in excellent condition and size. Will update in spring.

I bought seeds in the past from Pintree and had a good experience. Late in the ordering season, the last week in May, I had an impulse to buy more gladiolas. Pinetree was one of the few that had a selection left. Got them VERY quickly, great price, and the bulbs were in excellent condition. Bulbs come in small, labeled paper bags that were clearly handled carefully.
They are some of the largest and most beautiful gladiolas I have seen. The purple-red, purple and apricot with white are breathtaking. Will buy more next year!

I have been ordering seeds, tools, books and supplies from Pinetree Gardens for many years. Obviously, I'm a satisfied customer. On one occasion when a product did not perform as claimed, I e-mailed the company and was immediately issued a credit toward my next order with no hassle whatsoever. I love the sizes and prices of their seed packets, in particular -- they seem perfect for the home gardener. I would order from Pinetree Gardnes exclusively except that their selections of varieties is somewhat limited, depending on what you're looking for. Overall, however, Pinetree Garden's seeds have been very reliable, no matter what part of the country I've lived in. :-D

I have been ordering seeds, fertilizers, soap supplies and accessories from Pinetree Garden Seeds and have always been satisfied with the prices, speedy shipping and results.

Because I garden at 8,000 feet, I start a lot of my plants from seed and have bought from all of the Big Boy Seed Cos. at one time or another. Tried Pinetree for the first time this year--and I'll be back. Lot of seed for low prices, plus great germination rate.

my absolute favorite company to do business with! fantastic prices, great selection, cheap books, very viable seeds and roots, and friendly customer service. i have been ordering from these folks for 8 yrs now, and have never been disappointed. if only everyone could follow this business model, we'd never have to worry about checking for negative posts! kudos.

Love this company! I have had a long wish list for several years. With Pinetree I was able to make a great dent in the list. With a more reasonable number of seeds for a home gardener, and at a fraction of the cost of other companies I have used before, it was a dream-come-true for me. I found even more plants to order than were on my list. I also don't have 40 half packs left over. (this means I can order again next year :) )
The shipping was only 1.95 no matter how many seeds in the order - a fraction of other companies. I opted for the express shipping - 4.95 - and received my order from Maine to Montana with 5 days. There was one mistake- wrong variety of spinach - and it was fixed immediately and cheerfully. I will definitely be a Pinetree customer again.

A decent selection of OP seeds, at some of the lowest prices I’ve found. My only gripe is that volumne of seed per packet “feels” somewhat less than I am used to from other companies. This is not a problem for a seed-saver like me who plants small amounts the first year, but could be a problem for a subsidence homesteader who is accustomed to a larger seed volume per packet, and doesn’t buy by the ounce. But the low prices more than offset for this, and just provide fresher seed year over year for the biennials I have the most trouble saving seed from. How many “half-packets” did you throw out this year because there were old anyway?

I have gotten several seeds from them and everything has worked out fine so far. Their customer service was great and extremely friendly, and shipping was quick.
Not to mention the prices, which are half off of most catalogs.

I have ordered all of my vegetable and herb seeds from Pinetree for the past two years and Have always been greatly pleased with the results. Their shipping is very quick, the items are packaged well and the germination rate is amazing! What a wonderful company!

WARNING! WARNING! If you plant 4000 seeds, make sure you want 4000 plants. 'Cause that's what you be gettin'!

I nervously purchased asparagus roots this winter (to arrive in April). They arrived in April, fat and juicy and with little baby asparagus "buds". I had to wait a couple days to plant, and kept them in a cold garage. We dug our pits and laid them in, and in two days, we had growth. My husband keeps going out to check on "his asparagus," and always exclaims "Oh my god come look at this." I have planted asparagus before and never had results like this, I'm sure we will have a small crop next year. I also think they made a gardener out of my husband.

I've never even been able to harvest any asparagus before (we moved before plants matured). Usually we are sent dry, desicated, very dormant roots. I can't say enough about Pinetree's asparugus. We also had great success with their various seeds - good germination. I really enjoy doing business with this company.

I have bought a couple of times and was surprised both times at how fast my order came. They have great product selection too.

Earlier I ordered Coreopsis Limerock Ruby plants,,they arrived yesterday in 4" pots,,,and in the 4" pot was a teeny plug rootball, all growing in a circle. It hadn't been in the 4" pot long at all and no roots had ventured beyond the circle. I was very disappointed.

On the other hand, the Bigroot Geranium were decent starts and did have healthy roots. I've also had good luck with Pinetree germination rate with their seeds....so I'm giving them a neutral.

Admittingly, I took a risk with placing such a large order with a company that I knew nothing about. And I didn't even know that this site existed. So all the more reason that I wanted to take the time to say a few things about Pinetree Seed Company.

I was in a hurry to get busy with spring plantings and I placed an order with Pinetree Seed Company. The hesitancy that I had was with their location. Maine (if I remember correctly)! And I was in Florida. I asked them about the level of salt tolerance with their types of plants and they said they didn't know. I appreciated their honesty. My packets arrived quickly. I was impressed with that too. And I set to work at getting all of the seeds planted.

Two months later I had more than 14,000 plants growing. I had 82% germination from the seeds. In the past I have used other companies that charged more than Pinetree Seed Company and had only averaged between 57%-65% germination. You can imagine my surprise when I was expecting 8,000 - 9,000 plants. The additional 5,000 plants were like a bonus to me.

I highly recommend Pinetree Seed Company. They offer prompt service and the quality of their products is as good (if not better) as other companies. And their prices, well, they speak for themselves.

All of my future seed purchase will be made through Pinetree Garden Seeds. My main seed order was through one of the 'big companies' and I was so disappointed that I hadn't received my Pinetree Garden Seeds catalogue before as I would have ordered my main order through Pinetree! My original intent in ordering through Pinetree was to order seeds that the 'big company' had on backorder. To my surprise, my entire seed order arrived within 10 days, professionally packaged, and in darling seed envelopes (and arrived long before the 'big company's' backordered seeds arrived!). The prices were low, and I didn't end up with tons of leftover seeds. I regret that my main order this year was not through Pinetree, however, all future purchases will be through Pinetree as they have a wonderful variety of seeds, books, and gardening tools and supplies, all at unbeatable prices. I highly recommend anyone wanting fast service and in-stock seeds that the 'bigger guys' are all out of to use Pinetree Garden Seeds!

I have ordered from this company for many years. They have a wide selection of seeds, some difficult for home gardeners to procure elsewhere. The seeds are in good shape, clean, true-to-type and germinate well. There's a large selection of books and supplies as well. I especially like their smaller packets for seeds that don't store well for me.

Fast delivery. Less than a week. Good prices and a big selection. Good company. I agree with all of the comments posted.

What an excellent company! Everyone should give Pinetree a try! I have ordered from them several times since 2001, and each thing I have gotten from them comes in around 1 week later after mailing my order in (I live in MI, they are in ME), and I only pay their standard amount for shipping. All the seeds I have gotten from them always turn out to have 100% germination. Their prices are far superior, and can't be beat by any other companies. What a great company!

It was easy to go online and order. The prices were cheap, but they printed the planting methods on the seed packets. I thought that made it harder to read because of the small prints.

Pinetree, in my humble opinion, is the BEST seed company out there. The seeds are top quality and their service is super fast. I ordered seeds there this spring, and I received them in less than a week. They forgot to include several varieties of seed that I had ordered. I emailed them and I had the seeds in two days. I can't say enough good things about Pinetree.

Two years ago I ordered seeds and about 150 strawberries and a few daylilies from Pinetree, I was pleased with the seeds, but the daylilies and strawberries were poorly packed, and never performed. I ordered strawberries from a different company at the same time, and the plants arrived well packed and performed beautifully. I ordered only seeds last year, and again I was pleased, adn this year I placed a large seed order and received the order promptly and short only one variety, which they noted they would ship in about a week. I would rate their seeds A-1 and hope to order from them for many years to come. I hope that their plants have gotten better. Everyone has a "bad day" every now and then.

This has been my third year doing business with Pinetree. Cost, Shipping, Variety have all been great -- I have had fabulous results with the seed I got. My garden is nearly all veggies, and the major portion of our grocery budget for the year. I NEED to trust my seed supplier. Food is way too important to go with second best. This year I'm also planting a dye plant garden for my home fiber arts business -- my cash income is also important -- and they have the best variety of dye plant seed I've seen. I've never had any problems with slow orders, but in zone 6b, I need to order my seed early anyway. They get nearly all my seed money every year.

Another positive voice in the chorus.

I've ordered from them frequently in recent years (almost entirely seeds) and speed + accuracy of orders are very good. Germination has been fine. More recently the company has been offering seed of new varieties at the same time they hit the catalogues of the seed giants like Park, only they're generally less expensive at Pinetree. Pricing and quality make this one of the very best seed firms.

I placed a large order for seeds in January. I received everything I ordered, no back orders! They did leave an item out of the box but immediately sent it when I let them know. Of the seeds that have germinated, I am finding 100% germination. I highly recommend this company.

I have had excellent luck with this company, excellent prices, good germination rates, excellent variety. I personally think they have some of the more reasonable shipping rates around. They also had my order to me in less than 10 days. Glad I found them.

Excellent service! I received my seeds in Guatemala, in just a week. The ones I sow around Christmas (we can do that in this latitude) are germinating very well.

I have ordered from Pinetree twice. Both times I recieved my order within 2 weeks. Every seed I planted from them grew! And grew very well! The prices are great and for the size of my garden, the size of the packets are perfect. I will be ordering from them and only them from now on.

Pinetree seeds has been my primary supplier for five years. I have a very small yard, but like to take advantage of every inch, and Pinetree Seeds' small packet size and great price allows me to afford trying fifteen or twenty different types of herbs & veggies every year. Even with their small packet size, packets still tend to last me two years - imagine if I had to buy the usual big ones that everybody else offers!

Another great bonus - they're in Maine, so I know that whatever they can grow will grow here in MN, with our short seasons but incredibly long days. This is not a given with southern companies!

I have never had a problem with an order, except one year when everything was delayed because of that terrible ice storm. They can be slow, if you wait till late spring to place an order, but if you order early, things will arrive in a matter of days. Occasionally, they have been out of a variety of seeds, but never more than one an order, and you know, that's just life.

And I'm delighted that they don't have a glossy catalog. You know where those companies with big shiny catalogs find the money to pay for them, don't you?
