Comments regarding Pinetree Garden Seeds

I think these people are great! I ordered through their web site (not yet encrypted) and received my seeds in 5 days. Also they enclosed the yellow copy of my credit card receipt, plus some additional mailing labels for future orders. Also when I asked them to email me with and answer to a question I was promptly replied to (their policy is to reply w/in 3 days)

I think they are wonderful!! Almost no one needs the number of seeds in the larger packets. Last summer I ordered a pH tester that was faulty, and they promptly refunded my money. They did not simply issue a credit voucher as so many companies do. I wrote to them suggesting that tender perennials be listed as such rather than "annuals" to assist us with milder winters. I not only received a handwritten response, but I noticed in their new catalog that they took my suggestion to heart! This company is extremely customer-friendly in terms of price, quality, and service.

I like this company because it caters to small gardens, and the prices are really reasonable. They have excellent response time to orders, too. I also chose this company because of the location. I figured many years ago that anything that could grow in Maine would probably adapt to our high desert climate and short growing season. They actually have varieties (of corn!) that are designed for and work in a short cool summer.

I've ordered seeds, books, and garden products from this company, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I always phone in my order, and the people who take my order are always very helpful and knowledgeable. I had to exchange one item (non-plant) and they gave me absolutely no problem - it was exchanged promptly, and they included a handwritten note apologizing for the trouble! Whenever possible, this is the catalog I order from.

They are the best seed company that I have ever dealt with - I bought a wide variety of veggie and flower seeds along with Kennebeck potatos, asparagus and raspberries - everything is up but the spuds (they have only been in the ground a couple of days).

I've ordered from Pinetree for several years now. I have a small garden but like to plant a large variety of items, so their cheaper packets with smaller quantities of seed are perfect for my purposes. The available plant varieties are described thoroughly in their catalog, which has gradually improved esthetically over the years but is far from being a high-gloss coffee table book. The catalog helpfully clusters some plants by geographic area (Italian, French, etc.) Their selection descriptions of varieties are good, and their prices and shipping charges are reasonable - how can you resist getting just one more variety of lettuce for (such a small price?)

Pine Tree Gardens is a GREAT supplier! Their seed catalogs give so much information it's almost like a gardening info book! They have LOTS of detail on growing how to's for all their seed, recommendations and even advice if certain plants don't grow well in a certain place, or need special attention! THE BEST thing though, is that they are geared to the backyard gardener, so you can buy smaller packets of seed. This saves you money, as well as giving assurance that the mice won't have gotten into your stored seed during the Winter, and nibbled all that good stuff that you HAD been intending to plant this weekend! While you CAN buy the larger seed packets - they have 3 or 4 sizes in most cases, they specify approximate number of seeds/per. I cannot comment on their "returned goods" policy - they DO guarantee everything, but I've never had to return a thing!

In my opinion, they're the best mail order seed company. Their seeds are in small packages so you can try a lot of different varieties and they are almost always the cheapest. I order a lot of seeds from them; they're shipped promptly. They've got a great selection and I've had good luck with all my seeds from them.
