Comments regarding Whatcom Seed Company (Seedrack.com)

They mailed me an empty packet with an invoice. There were no seeds in the packet. I don't believe this was a mistake. I have tried to contact them, and there is only an email address for the company. Lesson learned.
FACT: I noticed they have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau.

bought japanese black pine seeds and planted on end mar, none comes out till today on 5/19/2020. Aksing them why with at least 4 emails, no reply . Fail to understand why this compnay has no customer service. I used to buy black pine seeds from Dallas Bonsai, pity that seems Dallas Bonsai not carrying same any more. Do not waste your time and mony with this company.

I placed "1" order for Lithops seeds. And they took it as 2 orders. My credit card got charged twice for the same exact order.
Like that isn't enough, I got charged $13 shipping 2 times, so $26 total for shipping just for Lithops seeds I can barely see. And it cost them $1.36 to ship me the seeds.
What a bunch of thieves. I sent a email that was never replied back.

I ordered seed from Whatcom Seed Co. The seeds never arrived. I have sent multiple e-mails requesting a tracking number so that I may track the package. The company has not and will not respond. Seems like a scam to me.

Don't order from this company. Sent several emails asking for refund for overpriced seeds that did not germinate.

I have a VERY green thumb, and never have issues with seeds not germinating. I started over 600 plants this year ( I sell started plants as a side business), and these were the only seeds that did not come up.

Overpriced Broccoflower seeds, $13.00 for 3 teeny tiny packs of seeds, about 10 per package.

Asked for a refund or replacement several times by email. No response. Will try calling today.

What a rip off. Wish I would had seen this topic before I purchased.

Do not buy from Seedrack.com. I wish I had seen this in Dave's Garden before ordering.

I purchased 4 packs of 5 seeds of hot peppers. Seedrack charged more than $9 for the moruga and over $5 for the others. They charged $6 shipping. Total $38 for 20 seeds. Because they had a nice Web Site, I paid this high premium over the other offerings on ebay. First order never arrived after 20 days. They did replace my order, took another 20 days. Seeds arrived in a unprotected envelope with 95 cents postmark. In the envelope were little zip lock packages containing 5 or 6 seeds, no date. NONE of the seeds have germinated.

In my frustration on waiting for seedrack, I ordered from a couple of people on ebay. The seeds were $3-$5 dollars for 10 seeds and free shipping. The seeds from the other sellers arrived in padded envelopes in 5 days. The packs contained 20 seeds. Total of $13 for 100 seeds. ALL are doing great.

AVOID the hassle. DO NOT buy from seedrack.

I ordered several types of seeds from seedrack.com.

None of the seeds have germinated, even if they were planted and cared for by a very experienced individual who has been running his own farms for decades.

I contacted seedrack.com via email multiple times, no answer at all. Further, I was unable to dispute the charge with the credit card because the site offers no guarantees.

Word to the wise: DO NOT order from this company. Choose a more reputable provider that stands by its products.

I ordered 5 different seed packs from Whatcom in December 2012. I started all 5 varieties indoors under plant lights with a heat pad on January 13, 2013.

Out of everything planted, only 2 plants (cabbage walking stick) have come up to date (4Apr13)--that's a germination rate of 2/35 or 0.06%. Obvious unsatisfactory.

Like others at this site with negative feedback, I e-mailed Whatcom for an explanation & replacement seeds. Like these others, I received neither an answer nor new seeds.

Everything Whatcom sells is available elsewhere on line, so I no longer waste time & money with these people.

I ordered various seeds from this corporation. They come in nice little plastic ziplocks but with no date stamps.
Only two out of 8 different seeds have germinated and I suspect the rest are out of date.
I have sent 8 emails to their Contact which is their sales email address. They have not bothered to even respond to me.
I think this is one of the worst corporations I have dealt with as they sell old seeds and don't date their packages.
Obviously I will never order from them again but I would like them to replace the old seeds they sent me.
Not professional at all.

this company sells bad seeds or mislabels seeds The 3 types of hot pepper seeds were not viable , and since the company do not return calls then I called pay pal in Canada and labeled them fraud , do not use this company I also have doubts they are organic at all and if this guy or persons lied about the seeds they most likely are GMO , Do not buy from here they are frauds the only seeds that lived or sprouted was striped marigolds . The owner blames it on the grower every time and will not return e mails or answer phone .

I ordered 3 different types of peppers from this company, and None of them germinated, I have attempted to REGROW with the extra seeds I had from them, and STILL no germination, this company sucks, and I Will NEVER order from them again

Order banana plant seeds followed the directions that came with the seeds out of $40.00 worth of seeds got one very sad looking plant...
Have e-mailed and snail-mailed them no response to either....for the $40.00 could have purchase 5 one gallon plants...so much for customer service.

Bhut turned out to be Caribbean Reds, no answer from my email back in August after learning I was not growing the coveted Ghost. Price was fair but only if you were to actually get what you ordered. Jalapenos had NO heat whatsoever. White Habs were actually good but very, very small in size.

My suggestion, order from the New Mexico University, they will only send you one order in a lifetime of Ghost, but at least you know what you are getting.

Impressive variety of seeds, and well packaged, prompt delivery.

What I *REALLY* wanted was 1) Viable seeds that were 2) the seeds I ordered.

I ordered bhut jolokia seeds, received the seeds, planted the seeds, and harvested...umm...NOT bhut jolokia peppers.

On the same order I paid for Camellia sinensis, and received what MAY have once been seeds. I planted the "brown crumbly hard things" anyway just to be certain...nothing.

Also on the same order this plant which is supposedly difficult, Tacca chantrieri. I don't mind difficult, but *all* seeds are difficult if they aren't viable.

"Caveat emptor"...if ordering from this company.

I purchased Bhut Jolokia Peppers but received some other type of pepper. The problem is, if the seeds (and they were not) are not the correct type you do not know for several months later, and there is no refund. The worst part is they do not have/provide a telephone number, That should have rung a Bell, plus they did not reply to my emails.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE> Fraudulent in every instance. 2 types of chile seeds were too old and would not germinate. I also bought "ghost Bhut Jolokia" seeds that turned out to be very weak red habanero plants. You find this stuff out after months of work and $$$$$ for proper soil and fertilizer and fighting pests of all kinds. The habaneros I buy at Winn Dixie blow this junk away. Several emails provoked no response, and it is the perfect example of a good Website 'storefront', propped up by 2X4's in the back. Just a good looking movie set for sure, and we will see the same site pop up under a different name in the future, and of that I am also sure. MY FAULT FOR NOT READING THE REVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after NOT receiving my chili seeds I e-mailed whatcom seeds and was sent a "duplicate" ( dont think the 1st was ever sent ) and as directed planted my seeds. NOT 1 SEED GERMINATED !!!
I then sent an e-mail asking for help with the remaining seeds and got no response in 5 days !!!
Now I read many reviews that are the same as mine.

I have ordered from them in the past and have been pleased with the results. This year I ordered Red Torch Ginger and Lady's Mantle Seed. Planted them according to their directions, put them on the heat and nothing, nada, not one seed has germinated from either one. In the meantime all of the rest of my seeds have germinated and been transplanted. I grow hundreds of plants every year and have never had a problem with growing anything. Was in the business for years and these are the first duds I have encountered. Apparently from reading the comments on here they don't monitor this board so appatently they don't care.

I have bought over US$150.00 order two monthes ago. I have not received it, I have sent a lot of e-mails and never had any reply. I have phoned but nobody answered.
Please don't buy anything from this company. This people just dishonest swindlers.
It is very dissapointed because I was waiting this seeds.

ordrer placed 9/5/07, 2 weeks ago. Invoice received. No product yet, no info on anticipated shipping date. No info that order is backordered. THE SITE DOES NOT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE -- only email. I consider this a poor prognostic sign. I have emailed. I have called directory assistance and been given the same number as the Better Business Number shows as well as a back up number. In both cases the answering machine does not identify as a business nor sound in any way sound professional. It provides instructions to leave a message which has not returned so far today.

About a year ago I did have an order from them arrive. I do not remember the timeliness but it does not stand out as having been a problem.

However, the process this year does not correspond with how any reliable business, including a home business, should run. I have always had very strong doubts about any US based mail order business which does not bother to have a customer service phone line. Now I know why.

HORRIBLE -
I ordered some palm seeds which were completely crispy feeling and some were moldy. Of course, they never germinated. The only thing that did germinate was supposedly split-leaf philodendron or 'monstera deliciosa' which I ordered as such and was labeled as such but was in fact heartleaf philodendron, a VERY common plant of which I already have a few! I still even have the bag that was labeled 'monstera deliciosa' -- and like an idiot began to stake the heartleaf when it grew and was limp!

ummmmm.....nothing has germinated.......and palm seeds old and moldy......but they are sending replacements for the palm seeds....so......Ill remain neutral until I see the state the NEXT seeds are in.....I truly hope things are better :0)

I bought some hot pepper seeds which arrived quickly. Most germinated, but many of the plants were cross-pollinated and nothing like advertised - carribean red peppers were small and yellow, chocolate peppers were orange, etc.

I am more fortunate than most. I got 1 PawPaw seed to germinate. None of the pepper seeds I purchased germinated.

I ordered 22 palm seeds so far. I got 1 germinated and growing but 21 rotten and moldy.

I believe only if you are looking for seeds that are easy to germinate, regardless of who is selling, this is the one.

I've bought 3 times from this company. First time on ebay (2 years ago), second time last year - in both situation everything was OK. I placed my last order about 6 weeks ago. Seeds arrived decomposed in plastic bags. I sent emaisl with complain twice. No response. This is respect-less. I left them positive feedback on ebay, second time I sent them "Thank you" email. This time this is my negative feedback for this company. If you are going to place an order be very careful.

I ordered seeds 3 weeks ago and did not get them. Sent email note to them 1 week ago - no response. Emailed again today - will give them 2 days and if no response will dispute the charge with credit card company.

Oh dear, poor stupid me. Wish I had known about this site before I spent my precious money. Oh, yes The package was pretty neat and the picture on the package was pretty, too bad I didn't plant the cute little package with the nice foam and the pretty flower picture. My shock was when I opened it up and saw there were only 5 seeds (5) five lousy seeds. I spent $23.00 building a special bed for Edleweiss because they only grow under special conditions. I sent Seedrack a email and complained and told them they ought to be ashamed, never got a reply. After that, I ordered from a different ebay seller called Seedmart that says there are 100 seeds in their packages, but, now I see that the reports here are not all that good either because they are also HIRT's Greenhouse and there were conplaints about old seed. Will hope for the best and will let you know.

I filled my shopping cart, but when I went to check out, the first page in that process, which contains personal information, is not an encrypted page (https). I emailed them and asked for an explanation, and none was given.

Screw them. Off I go to a more reputable company.

I ordered some seeds last year figuring I would save some money,what a waste.Planted them this spring and no seeds germinated.I will definately never order from them again.

I too was "duped" by seedracks cheap prices for seeds on ebay. I recieved the seeds quickly with germinating instructions. The only thing "good" about this company!!! I bought some of their more expensive seeds (cycad seeds). I bought 4 packages and 8 out of 10 seeds were old!!! I soaked them in water like they instructed, but 8 of the seeds floated! I found out later, during some research, that cycad seeds that float are generally old seeds and don't germinate!
I emailed them several times to try to solve the problem; I even offered to send pictures of the floating seeds and pay for the shipping for new seeds. They emailed me ONCE and asked where I found my info. I replied, "From the president of the Cycad Society." I even copied and pasted the info for them to read! They have never responded back!!

I was taken in by the low prices and bought about 20 packets of seeds from Seedrack on eBay and then from Whatcom's website. The only seeds that germinated were the Purple Bells and the Abutilon, and the germination rate wasn't very good on those. I just chalked it up to cheap seeds and wrote it off. I don't know if they buy leftover seed or what, but I wouldn't recommend them. They do ship quickly though and don't rip you off on shipping, but that's pretty much worthless when they send old seeds. I always have good luck with Park Seed and J.L. Hudson Seed. Can't go wrong with these two companies.

I bought several seeds last fall, including some coffee (Coffea arabica), purple dragon carrot seed, pawpaw seeds, among others.

I was mainly excited about the coffee seeds. I researched like crazy to find all the info I would need to get those babies to grow. By the way, their instructions were incomplete for growing coffee, good thing I looked it up (well not really, didn't matter as the seeds were crap). I knew they lost their germination quickly, so I got them planted immediately. Anyway, I waited and waited, keeping them at just the right temp., and just the right moisture. However, I finally had to give up after 5 months or so. I sadly tossed them in the trash. I have not yet had a chance to plant the others, spring is around the corner. I have had the pawpaw seeds outside stratifying all winter (I also researched them a bit). I pulled on of the seeds out and it looks crummy, so I am thinking they are going to follow suit with the coffee seeds. I am giving them every chance in the world though, buying pawpaw plants is a bit pricey.

So far a big fat negative, if I have a better experience with the other seeds, I might change it. :(

All those with negative experiences should contact the bbb (www.bbb.com), so they can get a report generated on this company. Some people check there before ordering from a company.

I ordered these seeds in July 2004. Camellia sinensis (Tea Plant), Coffea arabica (Coffee Plant), Coffea catura (Dwarf Coffee Plant), Cortaderia selloana (White Pampas Grass), Cortaderia selloana rosea (Pink Pampas Grass), Zwolsche Krul (Par-Cel), Asimina triloba (Pawpaw) I bought extra packets of pampas grass. Not a single seed germinated. They warrant seed to be of the variety and quantity advertised. There is no assurance of viability or age. I

Like many others, I too was impressed by the quick delivery and the very thoughtful packaging--the seeds were padded with foam!

However, the bottom line is germination, of which I had 0%. I planted my hardy orange and bald cypress exactly per the instructions.

It is a shame because I think their web site is excellent. What disturbs me the most, and the reason I will not purchase from them again is poor customer relations.

Maybe the will read this and others and take it to heart.

I ordered a great deal of seeds from this company, and not one single solitary germination for my fifty dollars. My greenhouse is so full of other seeds and plants and I had to build a second, so I would bet the problem is not me.

I purchased 11 different seed varieties from Whatcom. Not a single one germinated. I followed the instructions exactly. At the same time, I planted seeds from another company, and those seeds germinated.
I contacted Whatcom Seed, to inform them of the failure of their product and no one responded. I sent 3 e-mails and all were ignored.
