I had been impressed with the favorable response to Sunshine Hollow Gardens. I placed a large order with them for approximately $150.00 of daylilies. When then daylilies arrived, instead of being green they were white, the tubers were shrivelled and brown. I contacted the company and was told "If they were chlorotic, it would indicate that they were out of the light for a long time. My wife and I dug all the plants and they were in excellent condition when we shipped them. We can't understand why they were in a bad condition if they arrived there on Friday and were opened and planted in a timely fashion. We try our best to give customers the best plants they will get anywhere. We also have an unconditional guarantee so if you get plants that are not satisfactory, misnamed or do not live for the first two months all you need to do is let us know for a refund of the purchase price and the shipping if any."
So I requested a refund as the plants were dead. I figured they died in transit since the box said "Keep refrigerated."
Dave Rhyne refuted this, that the plants were healthy, that they would green up, that they had misled me about promising a refund, "For any plants that do not live the first two months after planting we will certainly send you a refund for the plant and shipping.

I apologize if I mislead you about the refund. If you were not satisfied with the plants when you received them, then per the instructions you received with the order you could have sent them back to us immediately for a full refund. I believe that if the plants are still growing that you will be pleasantly surprised after they have fully recovered from their digging and replanting. Having said all that we do not want unhappy customers. Please let us know the situation on your plants after another month and if you are still not happy we will make it right."
So another month passes. I write them again to let them know the plants were indeed dead.
No reply. My parents took sick and drew my attention away from the matter. They both passed. Recently, I sent them another email recently as this situation is still extremely unfair to me. I have lost 150.00 to this vendor.
Their reply:
"Three years ago I told you what our guarantee was...(he copied email above...)Surely you don't expect a refund after that much time without notifying us that the plant have all perished? I also find it difficult to believe that if the plants were properly handled and planted that all of them would have died. Daylilies are pretty strong plants and I have thrown them out in the woods and found later that they have reestablished and lived."

I have written to Sunshine Hollow multiple times about sick and dead plants. For my money and efforts, have neither plants nor a refund, only implied blame about the way I handled the plants, and run-around about a guarantee they offer but do not honor.

found this company from DG watchdog. 100% positive rate. wow! so I check their website and surprisingly see they are doing clumps sale and offer $35 free shipping (march 7 website) can't resist the good deal,so I tried to make my order right away . ooops! when I check out ,there's no free shipping at all. I thought there must be the system problem. since they dont have "toll free" number, I have to spend my money to ask for it. The lady told me "yes, they do offer $35 free shipping" and put me on hold after I told her about this problem. Finally I got my answer is...the plants I ordered are sale items, they decide not to offer free shipping this year due they lost big money last year for sending the big plants free last year ....I felt really stupid to make that phone call . But I asked them to update the correct information in their website. I hate the companies provided wrong information for the customers, especially it's even on the 100% rate. well, maybe they do send the big plants for good price , but not very responsible for their mistake. Maybe this company should think about getting some toll free call if their website information is not always what they really do. very disappointed! I cancelled my order of course.

March18, suprisely got the D-mail from the owners( wrote on March 16). They were responsible and explained everything in details. even admit it was their system processing mistake. I like the way they faced the problem and took full responsibility. just this reply a bit late since I had made my order from the other company.

It seems that there's no more attention after I changed the rating for them here . I sent 2 emails to them to ask for the offer they did in the last email. Never got replied. Well, it seems that I have no luck with this company. and I really don't like this feeling. so I give it up and change the rating again. No more deal with them!
