I really love a bulb display, and have naturalized them for years. Then, I moved, and had to start over. After a lot of research I picked COLORBLENDS. And am VERY I happy I did.

Couldn't ask for a better product; it exceeded my expectations from the catalog.

Also, I needed some gardening help, phoned and in touch with Tim, Colorblends owner.

Ten minutes later I had a "Bulbs 101" course, and had learned a lot of information I hadn't even known I needed.

I'll do all my future buying from Tim and his great company.

I came home from work to find a very heavy package in my carport. I figured it was a hanging Tiffany style lamp I had recently ordered on the Internet. However, it was my Colorblends order! I have never seen tulip and hyacinth bulbs that big- they almost looked fake! This late in the season I was skeptical that there would be any high quality bulbs left. Clearly, Colorblends doesn't skimp on quality at any point in the delivery period. Of course, I can't report on how the bulbs will perform next Spring, but at this size the results are sure to be spectacular. I also appreciated the 2 gifts, a bulb planting knee protector and bulb carrying bag. Will order earlier and more extensively next season!!!

I received two orders of bulbs from this company and am absolutely thrilled. The first order I placed over the summer so obviously I knew it would not ship until this fall. After I saw the beautiful bulds I immediately placed another order and received the package in less than a week. The bulbs are HUGE and healthy - the daffodil bulbs were bigger than the plumbs I just bought at the store. I can't wait for the spring to see the flowers that emerge from these monster bulbs. Do not hesitate to order from the company, you will not be disappointed!!!

Research on Dave's Garden led me to Colorblends as source to order spring bulbs by mail for the first time. The reviews were positive and they were listed as a member of the Mailorder Gardening Association that specializes in Daffodils. I would like to comment on the exceptional quality of their website. Pictures of the flowers in mass plantings and close-up studies of each variety were available. I enjoyed viewing Colorblends choice of collections sold by color and bloom time. I was in search of selecting bulbs that were to be in bloom early, mid and late season. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a collection of daffodils were selected to grow based on bloom time. I liked seeing pictures of the daffodils that I selected on my purchase order. I also liked that they listed the price I spent per bulb in a bulk order. It made it easy to compare prices against other vendors. I have to say that their prices were reasonable. The only improvement to the website that I can suggest is a collection of bulbs organized by height.
My shopping experience was a pleasure. I am anticipating daffodils that will bring about a smile or two this spring.

On October 20th, 2009, Ayla69 added the following:

My order arrived today in perfect condition. The bulbs were packaged in a crate that the delivery driver easily carried to my door. The daffodils were labeled so that the tag could be removed and stapled directly into my garden journal. That was a nice touch. Each bulb was healthy and seemed ready to grow. The planting instructions were simple enough to follow. I hope to see a palette of yellow this spring.
On May 6th, 2010, Ayla69 added the following:

Spring 2010. In a word, WOW! There were lots of smiles and happiness in my garden due to Colorblends. Rijnveld's Early Sensation and Crocreation bloomed very early as stated and were followed by February Gold. Tahiti was as beautiful as the website pictures displayed. Pipit had a delightful fragrance and I counted 4 blossoms on one bulb! Glory of the Snow came up beneath Pipit and looked fabulous together. Kokopelli ended the daffodil show near the mailbox. My experience with Colorblends was exceptional. The daffodils matched the pictures and descriptions stated on the website. I'll be ordering in bulk for Fall 2010 and anticipate a "WOWIE-ZOWIE" spring in 2011.

This is the only company I will purchase bulbs from. I have purchased bulbs from them for many years and every year I have been pleased with the results.

Last fall due to a number of issues I was unable to take proper care of my "See View Plait" bulbs prior to planting and when I was finally able to get to them a great number of them had turned moldy. I picked the best ones, planted them and hoped for the best. A friend of mine saw the ones that I thought were beyond hope and he asked if he could have them and I said sure.

The next spring we both had BEAUTIFUL tulips! Now I would never recommend not taking care of your bulbs properly upon receipt, but I couldn't believe what beautiful tulips those moldy bulbs produced. I had tons of compliments from my neighbors and from the people I was able to give bouquets to.

Also, a few years ago I planted some daffodils from White Flower Farm--the "Camelot" bulbs never came up and out of the 50 "Stainless" variety only three have ever flowered. This year I planted 300 daffodils and 200 crocuses from Colorblends, as well as 300 tulips and I know that this spring will be beautiful. The daffodil bulbs especially were enormous, many with three "bulbets" I guess you would say. I cannot say enough about this company. Thank you Colorblends! You've got a customer for life.

On April 27th, 2010, Niere added the following:

Spring 2010 update: Just wanted to add that our daffodils are absolutely spectacular! We have had people slowing down to view them and my neighbors have commented on how wonderful they look. Our "See View Plait" tulips are almost ready to bloom and they are looking beautiful so far. Last spring I gave my spent "See View Plait" bulbs to a friend who planted them last fall and they are blooming for a second year and are just as gorgeous as they were the first time around. I was a tad bit disappointed in the crocuses--I ordered and planted 200 of the "Crocreation" crocuses, a yellow and purple crocus mix. We only had nine purple crocuses and those bloomed substantially later than the yellows. Overall, I must say I continue to be very, very pleased with Colorblends and look forward to ordering from them again this year.

I ordered some tulips last fall. All performed well, but I had planned for graduating heights and I think some of the heights listed were a bit off the mark. I ended up with a shorter row of tulips in the back. Also, the pink I ordered that looked like a medium pink in the photos ended up looking rather dark, almost red.

I don't want to sound too critical, though. Customer service was excellent, and the bulbs were all healthy and bloomed well. Just a few surprises in size and color. :)

Changing my rating to a positive. I also ordered daffodils that fall, and they're in their second year of blooming and are going to be just gorgeous again. I'm planning a big order of more daffodils this fall.

We appreciate these comments which illustrate a difficulty we have coming up with one exact height for the different climate zones in the United States. Experience shows that spring flowerbulbs perform differently in various locations due to differences in sun, soil, temperature and humidity. We take this criticism seriously as we spend a lot of time and effort to correctly represent the colors and heights of the bulbs that we include in our catalog.
It is often difficult to pick a single image to represent the entire bloom cycle of a flower. Our policy is to try to grow, view and photograph every bulb that we sell during the spring. Sometimes nature and the photomechanical printing process seem to conspire against our better efforts. "

The size of their bulbs and speed of shipping is incomparable. I've been ordering from Scheepers for years but they were out of the muscari I needed, so I tried Colorblends. The bulbs appeared to me to be bigger than anything I'd purchased from SCheepers, Bluestone or in a bricks and mortar store. They are. I looked at the small print and Scheepers bulbs are 14-16 cm; Colorblends are 16cm +. Colorblends run 3 to 5 dollars more per 1,000. The shipping is the same, but Colorblends arrives in one.....yes one.....day.
I love Scheepers; they are reliable and have a tremendous variety you can't find elsewhere. But for the same named bulbs, I would order from Colorblends in a blink and get the exotics from Scheepers.

Ordered from Colorblends a month or two ago and got the bulbs in late October. Credit card was not charged until shipment was made, which is the way business should be done, but as we all know, not always the case with other merchants. I had ordered 200 daffodils, 100 snowdrops and some alliums. The bulbs were all big and in great condition (no soft spots etc.). It took me a while to plant all of these bulbs but next spring will be glorious. The crate they ship the bulbs in is a great added bonus to be used year after year for drying and storing other bulbs.

One word of advice - purchase early because they sell out of many of the excellent varieties - I dawdled too long last year and the sold out of the daffodils I wanted.

I would not purchase bulbs from any other vendor than Colorblends. Their prices are low for alliums, daffodils, and crown imperials (usually very pricey bulbs). You can't beat them in any of the garden centers here. They also have a great selection of "critter resistant" bulbs which I find a big plus. I live on a main "deer highway" it seems, and anything that I can find (besides daffodils) that they won't eat is great!

I have never had a problem with customer service when I have informed them of bulbs that did not grow the following year. Replaced with no problem whatsoever. Cleveland winters can be very cold or mild from year to year, and I don't fault the company for any bulbs that may not have made it.

The bulb quality is tops, the packing bags are handy, easily marked, and I have reused them many times.

You get what you pay for and with Colorblends, you get your money's worth.

Having compared their prices, they really do give a quantity discount on some varieties in comparison to other companies.

Fantastic bulbs! Last fall I ordered from this company's gorgeous catalog for the first time, and I am pleased to add my praises to those cited here. I'd not ordered from them before, thinking their bulb blends were a little on the expensive side and preferring to use my own creativity in coordinating flowers & colors. Then, as I dithered over the selections offered by my usual bulb company (Van Engelen bulbs), I realized that it was getting late in the season and my dithering wasn't getting me anywhere except overwhelmed.

I ordered about 750 bulbs: an early-flowering mix of little bulbs (mostly species tulips, grape hyacinths, and other small early bulbs of early spring), a big mixed daffodils collection, some snowdrops, grape hyacinths, and scilla, and 2 different colorblended tulip mixes - The Rainbow Coalition (flaming orange, bright hot red, and a rich bright purple) & French Blend (a beautiful pastel mix of soft pinks & apricots). The bulbs arrived very promptly, and were packed better than any I've ever received, in mesh bags contained in a large, sturdy plastic crate.

Even though I couldn't get them all in the ground immediately, they held very nicely for me in my yard shed - no mushy, moldy, nasty bulbs, none to chuck over the fence for the squirrels to eat! The bulbs were so large and firm and clean that I knew they would give great flowers, and this spring I was thrilled to see that I was right.

These flowers are incredible! Huge, beautiful, well-mixed blooms, surpassing my expectations. I love tulips, all kinds & colors, but hadn't been able to grow them when we lived in town because the deer would beat me to them as soon as the tender shoots started to grow. Now that we live in the country, surprisingly the deer don't touch them - go figure! The flowers are almost too large to be true - more color per plant. Anyway, I just can't get over how gorgeous this year's display has been. The beauty and vigorous good health of the bulbs more than makes up for any slightly high cost, and best of all, the coordination of colors & bloom has been done for me - all I had to do was plant them, wait through the long winter, and enjoy their beauty.

Highly recommended! I plan to order from them again, now that I have 5 acres to fill. Let these pros do the fiddling around coordinating bloom dates, colors, & heights, while you just plant them & wait for the beauty.
