Posted on June 29, 2015, updated July 21, 2015 I purchased a bird of paradise, a dwarf pomegranate, and a brugmansia from Larry's this spring. The pomegranate and brug came to me full of aphids. I called and sent photos. They issued me a refund for those 2 plants (but not shipping cost), and let me keep the plants to nurse them back to health. They were nice during the refund process, but it would not have been necessary if they would have sent pest-free plants to begin with.

On July 21st, 2015, jaimelemon changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following: And now I have an infestation of both aphids and ants in my citrus collection!!! Thank you, Larry's Orchids, for giving me the gift that keeps on giving. I can not in good conscience rate these guys a neutral any longer.

I ordered a couple of orchids and a coffee and one of the orchids came completly dead the other one was so bad it didnt live. So i contacted larrys orchids and i wanted ii talk to larry but was told he was not available and i could talk to mike. So as im talking to mike he says theirs not much he can do untill larry gets back the next day. The next day im told to hold and i will be transfered to larry. This is the same "Mike" from the day before??? I asked why he said he was mike the day before and he got an attitude with me. Then iii tell him about my plants and he is very disrespectful and offensive telling me its my fault when the plants died in shipping. Do not deal with this company ill even though they do have good prices i will go somewhere else that has higher prices.

I ordered two orchid plants online before a holiday weekend. I called to inquire about how to take care of the plants once they arrived considering they would be in the post office an extra day because of the holiday. Customer service at Larry's Orchids was very helpful, positive and informative as well as re-assuring. The email with the tracking number arrived and the link worked and this information was very useful. The plants arrived as expected and they were so well packed they were in excellent condition. I have re-potted them as I was instructed and they are doing very well. Great company, great products and great service.

Very unpleasant. When I ordered online I got a prompt acknowledgement and was told I would be notified when my order was pulled and when it was shipped, including tracking numbers. This didn't happen, and I emailed to find out why. I was told the package was already shipped and should arrive Wednesday at the latest. And the lady who replied was extremely nice. In fact, she even gave me a twenty dollar credit because I commented that they were not clear when the sale ended, and I missed the sale price because of it. But when I emailed to say the package had not arrived there was no reply, and a second request for tracking numbers was not answered either. Finally, late on the day after the package was to arrive I said I was no longer able to wait, and after I left for work my husband got a call from Larry telling him to refuse the shipment, which he did. I was to call Larry as soon as possible, which I did the next morning. He was offensive and patronizing, and said the plants were already dead from the cold, and that the emails were sent but Gmail was unreliable and probably got filtered out. He said that was not uncommon, and that I would get a refund when the package came back but that I would not be allowed to reorder unless I changed my server. After the call I checked and there was no email. In the end Larry emailed to say any future orders would be refused. I would never have ordered from him again anyway, even though his prices seem good and the plants were exactly what I wanted. The whole exchange was bruising and unpleasant, and not at all what I wanted from a very rare Christmas shopping spree. I suggest if you question this you read the return customer service comments for attitude, because that was exactly what I encountered.

Posted on November 18, 2013, updated November 18, 2013 On November 4, 2013 I ordered several plants from Larry's Orchids and left a comment asking that the plants be shipped immediately since I was unavailable to accept delivery the following week. I received an email from their customer service department stating that I had missed the cutoff date for shipping that week (Sunday's at noon) and that my order wouldn't be shipped until the following Monday - they only ship on Mondays. Also, in this email I was given the option to cancel my order or hold until another date. Since it was getting late in the season for shipping tropical plants I decided to cancel the order. I sent an email asking that the order be canceled. I received confirmation that the order was canceled but never received the refund (I paid via Paypal). I sent another email regarding the refund and was assured that this was done. To this date I have not received a refund (11/18/2013) and have since contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge. In the past I have had no problems with Larry's but under this circumstance I certainly can't recommend them to others or continue to support their business.

On November 18th, 2013, gandyman33 changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: I received a refund shortly after posting the above comment. I am changing my feedback from negative to neutral. I am giving this company the benefit of doubt and hopefully this was an insolated incident. Who knows I might even given them another chance but it won't be anytime soon....

I placed two orders recently, one for a grafted Meyer Lemon in a gallon pot, and the second for two of the small Dwarf Patio Citrus Meyer Lemons. The first order was placed too early to ship, but arrived when the temperature was warmer. The second came very quickly as the temperature had warmed up. They were both packed very well and arrived in excellent condition. I had a number of questions before buying the plants and after receiving them. My email was answered promptly and the calls I made were answered by very patient, helpful people. Prices were reasonable as was the shipping. The gallon plant was not on sale and seems to be shipped free. The photos and descriptions are very detailed and if people take the time to read the listings, they will know exactly what they are getting. Growing guides are on the website and included with the larger tree. I'm very happy with the quality of the plants, the careful packing, and the communication.

Yesterday I received the dwarf patio Calamondin orange citrus tree I ordered from Larry's Orchids. Although it was well packaged and I received it on time, the size of the plant was incredible. I realize it is a dwarf, but I did not expect to receive a 6" micro-mini plant. They claim it was the right size for the price. I did not expect to have to look for a magnifying glass to see what I got. When they advertise on Amazon, they should also indicate the plant's size they plan to send for $13.95 +$8.50 shipping cost. Last summer I purchased a 22" Improved Meyer Lemon for $14.95 in a local Seattle store. See the difference? I will NEVER EVER again purchase anything from this company,

I have made several orders myself and many, many friends have too. All I can say is that everything is great with them, you get what you pay for and they do their best to make their customers happy.

Posted on June 30, 2012, updated June 30, 2012 WOW!! I have been buying orchids from Larry's Orchids and Tropicals, or their retail store The Orchid Growers Outlet for years, and have never had issue with any of the staff or product. I have no idea where this person gets off treating anyone like that. I can see why Betty cut the buyer off and just said that they would refund his money and be done with him/her, I found her letter to be very professional and to the point of telling this lowlife where to get off. Personally I would have told the buyer where to put it, but she took the high road. Larry's Orchids & Tropicals is a very good company to deal with, do not believe what that jerk wrote....

On June 30th, 2012, LuvMyOrchids added the following: After reading the rest of the buyers comments, why would he/she expect to be treated any differently?? You come out punching and expect to he handled with kid gloves. The buyer is not always right, and in this case will not admit he/she is wrong..... what an idiot!!! According to Betty's answer to you a simple phone call or a nice e-mail would have fixed the problem in 2 minutes, but NO, you want to pick a fight - you must have ALOT of time on your hands not that you are on a fixed income (ie retired) to pick fights with companies - I guess that everyone needs a hobby in their advanced years....Get a life!!

Posted on June 30, 2012, updated June 30, 2012 I can't believe this crazy guy leaving that feedback (and I do mean crazy) I have ordered from Larry's on half a dozen differnt occasions without a problem, and I have spoken with their Customer Service Staff (Michelle usually) and have dealt with Betty, the CS Manager as well. She is a VERY sweet lady that bends over backwards for people (as does Michelle). This loony flys off the handle because the Post Office screwed up. When I lived in Grand Rapids MI (now I live in CA), only 2 hours from them they shipped my order via Priority Mail, NOT parcel Post, unless they have changed thier shipping policy recently. I have always received wonderful plants, and on the one occasion when one plant died, they replaced it within a week, with no hassel what-so-ever. This guy is just looking for a fight and is a a total loser.. I highly recommend Larry's Orchids..... and PS I do not work for or even know Larry if their even is a Larry of Larry's Orchids... (it's a pretty big company)

On June 30th, 2012, JustMike added the following: So are you going to eat crow and send an appology to Betty when the order finally arrives via Priority Mail??? I highly doubt it, because you live in a little world you have made for yourself of false rumors and incorrect facts. I called Larry's to place an order tonight and asked them about you - The guy on the phone His name is Mike, laughed so hard he almost wet his pants. He read me the rest of the e-mails you sent Amazon. I'm sure that Amazon is going to be talking to you, because you can't treat one of their merchants like that. And by the way...Larrys only ships via Priority Mail so I have NO idea where you go that idea from .... I did find out that there is a Larry and a Larry Jr so two Larrys at Larrys.. kinda funny!!! I told them that they should post the rest of YOUR e-mails proving how crazy you are... they they are taking the HIGH road for now and chosing NOT to post.

When I contacted the post office after it was over a week in transit they told me it was sent parcel post (what amounts to "stand by". I sent them this note: It's truly hard for me to believe you shipped my live plants by USPS stand by. $14 shipping appears to have been stuffed in your pocket. I guarentee you I will raise holy hell if the post office delivers dead plants. With 90 degree tems and the post office taking weeks to deliver, it's hard to imagine anyting else. DO YOU HAVE A BRAIN? which got this reply: We ship all orders via USPS Priority Mail. Obviously, the Post Office has misdirected your order, and most likely when your trees do arrive, they will be dead. We ship about 950 orders a week, and this happens about 5 times a month. Our usual policy for this occurrence is to reship a replacement order to the customer ASAP, upon notification of this happening. Customer Service is our top priority, and the customer should not be inconvienced due to a mistake by the Post Office. But due to your tone, profane language and overall unprofessional correspondence, I am just canceling your order and having our Accounting Dept issue you a full refund on Monday instead. We maintain a professional relationship with our customers and we expect the same in return. Errors happen, and in this case the error was not our fault, but we would have cheerfully corrected it. Your use of vulgar language was juvenile behavior at best, and was totally uncalled for! A courteously worded e-mail would have resulted in a totally different outcome to this situation. Dale, as they have said for generations, 'You get more flies with honey…..' Respectfully yours; Betty Abernathy Customer Service Mgr Larry's Orchids & Tropcials, Inc. (exactly as I received it) THESE PEOPLE ARE SCUM...RUN FROM THEM

On June 30th, 2012, DGRich53 added the following: I have to comment on several things in Betty's reply to me. First, note she blames the post office for the problem. I have been told it is their common practice to ship "local" deliveries parcel post and pocket the difference. The belief is that, if the delivery is within 100 miles, the plants will survive the short trip. Since I am 50 miles from either Milwaukee or Chicago, our deliveries are often longer. I think they simply made a mistake when it came to my order. Second she indicates they maintain a "professional relationship" with their customers (her note would make it seem the professional is one-sided) and that customer service is "our top priority". Because she accused me of being "profane" and "vulgar", I decieded she must not know what that actually was so I responded to her e-mail witrh and example of both. Perhaps one of our truly professional companies can give Betty an example of "professional" customer service which truly is top priority.

On June 30th, 2012, DGRich53 added the following: oncer again, this is obviously an employee
On June 30th, 2012, DGRich53 added the following: I have been a gardener for over 40 years. Now retired on a fixed income, the money it cost for these dwarf plants amounted to all of my “mad money” for the month so when a company charges me a premium price for priority shipping, I expect them to ship priority. There are still companies out there whose shipping costs are part of their profit strategy (and everyone out there more that 30 have had encounters with them. This crap is a product of the 60’s and the sooner those companies are out of business the better. What happened here is simple; they saw my Wisconsin address and decided that shipping parcel post would do. They get to keep the extra $9 or $10 for the local delivery. (And boy, if they could just steal that amount from everyone!) Only problem, THEY GOT CAUGHT. Then, instead of apologizing and resolving the issue, they decided to play the blame game and top everything off by insulting me. As I said, I have been a gardener for over 40 years and do business with a number of companies with sterling reputations (and several that don’t). When I saw their offer on Amazon, I check Dave’s and found very little. I thought I would give them a try. You live and learn.
Company representative comment on July 1, 2012:
The saying goes that you can't please all the people all the time. We have no idea where this customer is claiming we STOLE his money for shipping, and sent his order via Parcel Post. Track for yourself on USPS: 9405510200883415157936 shows the box was misdirected to NJ (Post Office's Fault – it happens) AND that it was shipped via Priority Mail. Here is the abuse our Customer Service Department has endured (Mostly Betty, our Customer Service Mgr) from this customer: (the spelling and grammar errors are uncorrected as they are direct cut and paste from the buyer's e-mails to Amazon.com and ourselves)

I bought an uncommon citrus from this company and the experience was 100% satisfactory. I will not hesitate to order again and enthusiastic recommend this seller. I believe they specialize in orchids and orchid supplies, as well as edible tropical plants/trees. They sell thru various sites, including their own, ebay, ebid, bonanza and amazon. They also have two retail stores in New Baltimre and Mt Clemens, MI.
