April 16th - already opening leaves - few other z4 woody plants have began to open leaves - buds have break two week earlier even after cold and snow hit.

natural cultivar - I gave it the name 'Spring Purple' as a whim. Leaves and Flower buds emerge purple but when they mature they are just the same as the other Red Elderberry
