June 2003: Taken from my grandmother's garden last year as transplant. Her's always readily self-sowed....hope they do as well for me. Grandma is no longer with us so this is a special flower in my garden this year.

The blue/purple larkspur shown in this image have not reseeded as well as the other colors of larkspur.

The first 2 leaves of a larkspur seedling do not resemble the larkspur mature leaf. The next leaves do. I posted this because my neighbor was pulling up his larkspur seedlings thinking they were weeds. (San Antonio, Tx.)

Rocket Larkspur (Consolida ambigua) seed pods full of seeds ... this is the way they look when I start gathering the seeds and dispersing in the areas in which I want them to grow next year.

Larkspur often displays striping/splotches. This one has purple blossoms with true/bright blue streaks/stripes. Very pretty.:

A beautiful double-flowered larkspur which flowered for much longer than its single-flowered neighbors.
